  • @theurbanspartan Been looking for some events to set my sites on, this must come after the Spartan Race, looks grim...good times!!!!!

  • This was the last year I did ToughGuy - did it four years running and said "No more". Just watched this and now I'm wondering... Maybe one more time for old times sake?

  • Nice vid, did you hold onto the cam when you jumped in the water. I have a hero and I use a pole check it out. Crib Goch XXX.

  • Hey there were you in a wet suit at the start? Was this your first tough guy I think we may have had a chat? More importantly are you running in 3 weeks I am third time did nettle warrior in the summer and then back for more. This time I want a respectable time :)

  • I remember seeing this when you first uploaded the video as i did the event and was continuously looking for new uploaded videos that i could show my friends. This is by far the best and i had forgotten all about it until i saw a video showing extreme sports in POV using a Go pro Camera. I'm really tempted to film the next TG in 2011 along with a few other events im taking part in. Would you say the Go Pro is worth getting or would it be more beneficial to get the full HD version?

  • @Boyddie

haha, thanks man! I do the same before each race and people are only really beginning to put up decent videos.

As for the choice between HD or the normal camera, i would say that if you're gonna use the camera for quite a few things, it may be worth getting the full on HD one, as you really can tell the difference. I've used mine for Canyoning, Via Ferrata, Mountain Biking, Ringoing, Parapenting, and Sailing, and at points-especially when there are amazing views, HD would be great...

  • @Boyddie were is this place and how can u do it

  • @theshitstarters woverhampton sign you death waver when you get there

  • cool ;D

what is the name of the last song ?

    thank you!

    :)

  • @0nikeairmax erm...its i'm a beast by tech n9ne...thanks for watching!!!

  • @ToughGillie are 11 year olds able to do that??

i would love to try it :)

i would be in first place the whole time

  • thx for uploading :D

  • This video is Awesome. Could you tell me what camera you used to do it please?

  • @theevisionary hey man...its a GO-PRO helmet cam, i just wore it on elastic straps over my hat.

There are better ones you can get now (HD) but i couldnt get one at the time.

  • Very nice video! Thank you for posting that. It is realy impressing! By the way: when will we see Part II of that video?

  • Wow! Great video! Thanks from Germany for this!

Who are you? Will you participate again in 2011?

Thanks again and all the best!

  • @Registrierkasse Hey man, im just a university student from the UK and me and a friend figured wed do this as it sound like fun! I wont be participating this year, as im currently in China learning Chinese, but i hope to come back in 2012!

    If youre competing Good luck!!!

  • where is this at?

  • cool vid, i did it in 2010 too. Was thinkin of head cam this year, did you find it got in the way at all?

  • @gasgasadam No, it didnt really....with the cargo nets it can get caught a little bit, but if you go through them backwards(like a lot of people do), its really not too bad. apart from that its just making sure that you have it secured well so that you dont need to worry about it hitting you in the head when youre running...

  • moral??? where. ?so they all say

  • some tips for the clothing?

  • @kskdtr Hey dude, you want thin thermals that cover your legs and your upper body...try and get ones that dont hold too much water. Also i found wearing a swimming cap, a thermal hat that can cover your ears, and gloves quite useful, as you can have them off for the run and then put them on before you get wet, and it helps a lot. The run at the beginning gets pretty warm, but its worth it when you get to the cold bits. Also Fancy dress is a must!!!

  • @RiseOfHank i agree i may be able to do most of the obstacle course but no fuckin way could i run a 6mile run lol

  • i agree i may be able to do most of the obstacle course but no fuckin way could i run a 6mile run lol

  • whats so tough ?

  • @houdini69 -2 degrees c. soaking wet, head under....

  • what music is this?

  • @MayasVoyar i think the song's called 'clubbed to death' or something. not sure about the artist

  • @MayasVoyar hey dude...its clubbed to death by rob dougan, and I'm a beast by tech nine...thanks for commenting!!!

  • I love the part where most "tough guys" look like sissies, for example plank walking, all by the rail, and elsewhere, slow and uncoordinated :-)

WOULD LOVE TO TRY IT ONE DAY.

  • @asskickerfoo ..... try it and you would think different.... sissies watch it from a leather chair in there bedroom .....

  • @butbutts don't give me a moral here, I would've already done it if I had an opportunity, and i don't have a leather chair :-(

  • @asskickerfoo haha...thats what happens to your mind when its been submerged in minus temperatures after having overheated in thermal clothing.

At the end last time i had to be undressed by my girlfriend...i didnt know where i was and i didnt stop shaking for hours...luckily, shes very good at warming me up ;-)

  • @asskickerfoo

When you enter tough guy and put yourself through what every person in this clip is doing you are not a sissy, I am sure you will find that out when you are competing in this event!! From a two time tough guy.

  • I went through the underwater tunnel in the far left channel & it had one hell of a current there (probably from the mass of people rushing through the water).

  • Hi, do you advise wearing some kind of wet suit for this? Also, the walk the plank bit, is the water deep that you have to jump into? Going to sign up for Jan 2011. Thanks!

  • Only 5 months to the next one!!

  • I'm there!

  • how old do u have to be do be allowed to compeed in this?

  • @Mentran 18, isn't it? You need to fill in some form that you are responsible for your own death if you die and stuff.

  • That's realy great! Thank you for posting this! I want to see more: Therefore: where the dickens is part II with start and finish? Please, please ...

  • @milkbottles2000 you don't really need to worry too much about swimming...all you need to do is a little swim (about 5-10 metres) after the walk the plank, and also depending on how well you do on the rope walks you may need to swim a little then, though where most people fall off you can generally grab onto the rope and use it to pull yourself along, which is easier and a lot quicker aswell. Good luck buddy!

  • With respects to the run at the beginning, its just a run around the fields, though make sure you don't lose your warm kit, as although you'll be boiling during the run, it comes in very handy later on...at the end of the run comes the slalom, which is a set of particularily nasty hill reps...I found running downhill past everyone helped gain loads and loads of places, even if it does put your ankles at a bit of risk... The first time I trained quite a lot for it and found myself wishing I'd do

  • Yaaa

  • Yaaaaaaaa

  • Brilliant video!! Thinking of doing this in Jan, how many months did you train for? Im not an amazing swimmer, do you think that will matter? Ta!

  • Looks brilliant.

  • Nice video mate, I am doing nettle warrior for the first time and not really sure what to expect. From what i've been told there is around an 8 mile run at the beginning, is that right? Are there any training exercises you would particularly recommend for me to do in the next couple of weeks.

Cheers and good luck if your doing it this year.

  • Are there any big obstacles or things that are out of the ordinary in the first 6 mile run?

  • looks awesome dude. Hopefully be applying for 2011.

  • I could probably do the obstacle part of the course, but not the 6 mile run

  • @RiseofHank prove it...

  • wat type of footwear would u recommend wearing?

  • @mozza987 I would reccomend any hard wearing off road running shoes...last year i ran it in some pretty old army issue silver shadows, and they did just fine! I would recommend not buying new shoes for the event, as they'll just get destroyed...by the end your feet are numb anyway, so as long as they survive the run at the beginning and dont get too heavy when they get wet, they'll be fine!

  • looking for some advice on clothing for jan 2011,thanks

  • looking for some advice on clothing for 2011 event, can anyone help please.

  • @stew038 Hi mate, depends really, i'd say some sort of fancy dress is a must as you stick out from the crowd, but because of some of the obstacles being able to rip your flesh i'd say long thermal top and bottoms, just make sure they dont hold too much water, another item i find really useful is to wear a swimming cap, as it keeps you warm throughout the race, even if it is a bit warm at the beginning. Finally cheap, thin gloves(sailing ones are ideal...)

    Thanks!

  • @stew038 NINJA DRESS FTW!!! =)

  • Nice video. Want to check this out. How fit are you required to be to finish the race actually? Define myself as quite fit, but I dont have so much endurance experience...

  • @Heikki1 Hi mate, i'd say the main fitness you need is for the run at the beginning, thats 6 country miles (i'd say between 8 and 10 miles on flat ground) without any stops and at a relatively good pace...nothing too hardcore unless youre going to try and win it. Once you've got past the run theres normally just about enough time to catch your breath back, what with bottlenecks and general hold-ups.

  • @Heikki1 Also, A lot of the fitness i feel is mental, you've got to be able to push through the cold(it is rather chilly)

Being able to lift your own wait, whether it be climbing cargo nets or getting over logs is quite important also.On the day the camaderie really helps, everybody pushes each other along.

    Thanks!

  • Great video! Very good. Thanks for this! But what happend with the rest of the race? Are there some nice pictures available?

  • Hi what camera did you use to film this?

  • @lembo2000 hey buddy, theres a link to the camera in the description, but its a GoPro 5 megapixel headcam...absolutely amazing for any kind of extreme sport!

    Thanks for commenting!

  • Bloody 'ell! I was going to enter this year, but am doing the London Marathon instead. Watching this though makes the butterflies come in my stomach. Seems impossible!

  • Oh crap, I've just signed up for January 2011...

  • great video nice to finally see a first person view of the course i will be there next january i have started training now as i am unfit lol one question though is it as hard as you thought and what was the hardest part of the course for you??

  • shit is that ice in the last bit, around 9:48 ?

  • haha yea buddy, you can see us pushing big bits out of the way at about 5:00...it got cold!

  • I can only imagine the suffering that you had to go through in this thing. Kudos to ya!
