Stan Kenton was very influenced by Machito and other Latin greats, if anything, I think it would of been the other way around....I have little doubt that Martin had worn copies of "Cuban Fire" and probably "City Of Glass" ......
Thanks for the post. I remember my these in my parents house as a toddler. Now that percussion is a bigger aspect of music now, it is interesting to see what he does with it. He was a genius and way ahead of his time. I send these links to musician friends who think I'm nuts but I say listen to drums and rhythms because they are so creative.
