Love the VR6. I have one and it gets attention where ever it goes, simply because very few people drive them now. Where I live it is all civics, scoobys or bmw 3. People keep asking me to do a swap.
How much money did you have to put into the engine to get it it 433 hp. I know that I'm looking a,t at least $4,500 to get my 1.8t to like 280 something, and that's not including all the labor costs. A reply would be greatly appreciated so that I know how much I'm getting myself into, thanks.
@brassxknux I'm not sure on the total cost but it did not come cheap, there was a lot of trial and error building this engine as not many people had attempted it when this was originally built about 10 years ago. sorry i can't be more helpful
@brassxknux it doesnt cost 4,500 to get it to 280hp you might as well get a vr6 motor if your going to spend that much for a motor brah it would be alot cheaper doin it yourself get a manuel and do it step by step it will save you alot of cash doin that for sure i did that with mines, mine has 208 hp and i live in alaska me and my dad are the only ones with 2.0 turbos here and it cost both my dads and mines 3,000 for both to get them all done so im just giving you options to save cash..
I miss my vr6,... drive e90 328i...but..miss the vr6 pull and sound.. got to love that engine..should have kept it...( shit).....lesson learned..never sell a car you love..
its got a gt30r roller bearing turbo. also has haltech management, forged pistons, cromoly rods, arp head bolts, big fuel pump and loads of in car bits like wideband, boost controller etc. i reckon with a spacer gasket you should be able to get 300hp.
he is mapped at about 18psi for 430 bhp, but its still about 400 at 12psi. it still has quite high compression so would need to be lowered even more if he wanted to go much higher.
he didn't fancy 4wd as he is in love with the american idea with all the civics etc being fast fwd's.
its so driveable tho, thats what has suprised me. are you still running standard internals?
Yeah its not compulsory to run 4WD but it is sensible at very high boost. What turbo was that? jounal bearing? or ball-bearing?
Mate stock internals LOL, im still on stock compression!(no meth) stock fuel pump, stock fpr and even stock ECU. (not mapped yet) And like you said its so driveable ;)
It lasted 2 years but it wasn't standard. it was the slicks that killed it at the pod. its running R32 gearbox now so should be good for a while. thanks fr the comment :)
Yes the 02m box is much stronger than the old VR 02A, not gone AWD then... How much boost you running if you dont mind? im only on 8psi, and it feels rapid.
is this scotland ?
