It seems that Dan Choi and others think that the President is their enemy. Congress approved DADT, and now Congress has to repeal it. Choi says he don't need to understand why certain politicians vote the way that they do, all he know is it's the right thing to do. Lt. Choi, in a perfect world they would do that (slavery took a couple of hundred years to strike down). Matthews asked Choi, how does the President *ignore* the 'will' of congress. The Pres. can't ignore the Congress.

Chris Matthews is correct here. Congress passed DADT, so it must be Congress that fully repeals it, and so far the President has gotten everybody in the highest levels of gov't on board in an unprecedented way, but in the end it didn't make it through the Senate because just a few old white farts on the Republican side didn't let it, including John McCain who says he will be more than happy to filibuster it.

It's the Senate's fault, clear as day, but the GOP hates Obama so nothing's happening.

Obama is fighting to get a higher court to reinstate DADT. He has no obligation to do so. The Commander in Chief can influence which laws get priority enforcement and which ones take a back seat. He could easily shift resources away from DADT enforcement. Further, he could issue a stop-loss. Obamafail.
