I have yet to see anything on the virtuoso level from Myles. This is true of Tremonti also.

Awesome singer and awesome riff creator respectively but neither is anywhere near the top of the heap for guitar soloing.

Both are AMAZING guitarists. I like Myles' playing more, cause I find it tastier and think he's got better control over the guitar. Mark can play great too and is such a good composer. But I say there's a line between GREAT GUITARISTS like these 2 and a VIRTUOSO. Gilbert, Petrucci, Satch, Morse, Vai, Johnson, Beck are on a different level. Not only techniquewise, but they can do so much things. Think Myles and Mark play better than guys in Dragonforce, Necrophagist, and Children of Bodom, though

Mark Tremonti is more into a shredding stile, but I don't think it's a "better-worse" question, they're just different and equally interesting for a good guitarist.

@EiElBiAi Exactly, in Mark's Fret 12 videos he talks about how Myle's brings the classic rock, jazz, and blues to their music and Mark brings the metal. But they both play blues, which is really important for guitarists, and because of their different styles they make one good band with both shred and feeling.

Yep! I think that in a band or even into the arsenal of a guitarist the most important thing is balance...

Why just be stuck in shred or in blues or wathever?

Blues' my favourite kind of music, as a listener and as a player, but as far as I'm concerned I think that it's important to learn and play all that you can the best you can.

Then you can find band like Alter Bridge wich mix blues n shred just like you said or guitarists like Doug Aldrich that do the same!

@EiElBiAi Another blues fan! :P Yeah, I'm honestly more like Mark with my playing, I like heavier stuff, but I still L-O-V-E blues. I mean, you can't help but rock out when there's some Stevie Ray playing! And, although I do play mostly heavier stuff, I always find when I play blues I get better. Every guitarist should be playing blues no matter what, and if you're a metal guy it really makes you better, 'cause then you start playing with feel and slower and everything.

im talking from a musical standpoint if compared with myles, tremonti clearly lacks soul and musicality in improvisation. Sure he can compose good tunes but being able to improvise live is a whole different game. watch speed freak shredders like paul gilbert ,marty friedman, john petrucci improvise and still deliver music, youll see what im talking about.

At the beginning of the vid you can see the look of childlike enthusiasm on Myles' face as he begins to feel the music. Alter Bridge is incredibly fortunate that they found a frontman who takes pride in musicianship rather than seeking superstardom at the cost of musical integrity.
