We do not pose a threat to any Country nor do we have the need to be strained by such an issue or an event but taking part in other people's affairs may cause problems on the Canadian soil in the future, America has already taken half most all provinces since Canada was established but overall American Govt and it's history of people need Canada to survive as Govt in the future, South America will devour America, if the Oceans don't get to them first, strategically Canada is important
One thing I did not say was, I think the greatest strength the CF has is retention of soldiers. A Sgt in the CF will (typically) achieve that rank after his counterparts in foreign armies. He/she will also stay in longer. The CF(Reg and Reserve) has a strong cadre of trained and experienced soldiers that are second to none.
I can't speak to that, having never done American training. I have, however completed Canadian Basic Trg (CFRS Cornwallis), my son completed BMQ in 2009 and my son-in-law is currently in BMQ so I think I have some idea what is involved. I served with American soldiers on three occasions and each time I was impressed. My opinion is that we Canadians tend to think we are actually better than we actually are. We are good, but so are our allies.
The Canadian army is really good. The Canadian army/navy/air force can stand toe to toe with any other military force in the world. What the CF lacks is infrastructure to deploy without outside assistance. The CF-177's have reduced that to a small extent, but what is needed is 6 amphibious assault ships.

90 thousand currently according to the NDHQ website when I joined it was about 80 or 85 thousand in late 07. 120 thousand would be a great number if we could secure the funding to do it. We'd have enough people to have dedicated amphibious assault units, air calvary cool things that we can't have now because they're too specialized for such a small army.

wrong, there are rules, first off in a war the geneva conventions apply to all nations. it isnt all or nothing because there are economic factors to consider, aswell as alied nations. what would the usa fuel its war machine with if canada stopped providing it with oil, electricity, food, and uranium. An american attack on canada would be stretched out for years, and would ultimately end in the decimation of both countries economies, and militaries.
you're starting to involve factors other than what is really at the heart of this issue. That issue being, in a face off between the two military forces, who would win?
I think that if neither country was presently at war and all resources (at least most) were in garrison at home, the US would be able to control most of Canada within a very short time.
Potentially the supply of fuel and oil would not be an issue since the US has massive reserves within its borders.

One thing I did not say was, I think the greatest strength the CF has is retention of soldiers. A Sgt in the CF will (typically) achieve that rank after his counterparts in foreign armies. He/she will also stay in longer. The CF(Reg and Reserve) has a strong cadre of trained and experienced soldiers that are second to none.

I can't speak to that, having never done American training. I have, however completed Canadian Basic Trg (CFRS Cornwallis), my son completed BMQ in 2009 and my son-in-law is currently in BMQ so I think I have some idea what is involved. I served with American soldiers on three occasions and each time I was impressed. My opinion is that we Canadians tend to think we are actually better than we actually are. We are good, but so are our allies.

The Canadian army is really good. The Canadian army/navy/air force can stand toe to toe with any other military force in the world. What the CF lacks is infrastructure to deploy without outside assistance. The CF-177's have reduced that to a small extent, but what is needed is 6 amphibious assault ships.

90 thousand currently according to the NDHQ website when I joined it was about 80 or 85 thousand in late 07. 120 thousand would be a great number if we could secure the funding to do it. We'd have enough people to have dedicated amphibious assault units, air calvary cool things that we can't have now because they're too specialized for such a small army.

wrong, there are rules, first off in a war the geneva conventions apply to all nations. it isnt all or nothing because there are economic factors to consider, aswell as alied nations. what would the usa fuel its war machine with if canada stopped providing it with oil, electricity, food, and uranium. I think that if neither country was presently at war and all resources (at least most) were in garrison at home, the US would be able to control most of Canada within a very short time.
Potentially the supply of fuel and oil would not be an issue since the US has massive reserves within its borders.
