  • the round is not even on par with the .41 magnum. this video is misleading

  • Looks like an awesome cartdrige for an awesome gun. That gun would make an excellent PDW. I bet with sabot rounds you could do as good or better than a 7.62x39. The military should just scrap all the 5.56 NATO and 9mm and just use this gun.

  • Is Mech Tech the only current source for a carbine now?

  • Looks like a wonderful round... I'd like to see the same test out of a 1911.

  • Why is MPA not making this gun right now? I would buy one if I could find one.

  • That was over exaggerated recoil on the 44 mag revolver. Bottom line is that until the 460 ammo drops in price and is available from more than two distributors im not investing in it. 45ACP is a proven round, embraced by special forces units around the globe and guarantee if you shot a nice home defense .45 bullet at that jug it would have reacted differently

  • of course it has less recoil than the 44 mag the 44 mag has no spring to push back in that revolver and the semi auto does my 44 mag semi auto pistol will have just as much or less recoil than the semi auto he is shooting i think this is pathetic

  • my mpa 9mm is good enough for me-and WORLDS CHEAPER to shoot! Its about 100 bucks for 2 boxes of 460s!

  • i have seen people shoot 500 sw mag with 1/ 4 less jerk of recoil out of a 3 inch barrel . I JUST THINK YOU ARE A BULLSHIT ARTIST WITH SOMETHING TO GAIN

  • PERSONALLY I WILL JUST STICK WITH THE 45 ACP.

  • I CAN SHOOT MY 2 inch taurus snub with that much recoil you showing with the MPA ROWLAND. I JUST THINK YOU ARE OVER HYOING IT . ITS OBVIOUS YOU HAVE A STAKE IN SELLING THESE GUNS.. I JUST THINK YOU SHOULD BE HONEST. THE DIFFERENCE IN MUZZLE FLIP IS NOT GOING TO BE THAT DRAMATIC. I SHOOT 44 MAG ALL THE TIME. I OWN 7 OF THEM . EVEN IN SEMI AUTO. TRUE IT SOFTENS THE RECOIL. BUT SO DOES PORTED BARRELS

  • @LUVMAGNUMGUNS2 Good God man! Take a Xanax! BTW, this gun in .460 has been discontinued for more than a year so I wouldn't get upset for no reason.

  • YOU EXAGGERATED THE MUZZLE FLIP WHEN SHOOTING THE 44 MAG REVOLVER. I EVEN SAW YOU JERK UP THE MUZZLE % MORE INCHES ON THE LAST SHOT. COME ON MAN IM NO SUCKER ..... YOU ARE JUST ANOTHER FUCKEN SALES MAN

  • Show me a Ballistics gel comparison between the 460 rowland,45acp,and 44 magnum. your tests on the ballistics are not very professional.

  • lol, this guy's an awesome salesman. i came looking for a .460 R 1911 and ended up watching all 10 minutes of this.

  • Sweet cartridge Sweet Gun!

  • Georgia arms and Buffolo Bore's loads are full power unlike wilson's loads. Buffolo Bore has a 230 grain that gets 1350 and a 185 grain that hits 1550fps as well as GA arms.

  • i contacted MPA months ago. Took them awhile to get back to me but they finally did and said it was indeed discontuined. Going to their website also confirms as its not listed on there. Wish i had put in an order for an upper much sooner.

  • Wilson Combat gets 1200 fps (230 gr Hornady XTP) out of their $3700 Hunter model w/compensator...5½ inch bbl. That's using their own branded ammo. Or 1340 fps with 200 gr Hornady bullets. Either way, a far cry from what Johnny is claiming.

OTOH, SixGuns got 1335 fps out of a 5 inch bbl (drop-in kit) using the same Hornady 230 gr XTP bullet and 15.7 gr of AA#7. They wouldn't go any higher feeling they were at the max 40,000 CPU. Certainly respectable numbers but still below what Johnny claims.

  • @02840 From the Mpa barrel since it 6inch should get the advertised velocity if not a little more. Wilsons ammo is dowloaded to just over a .45 super since its intended for self defense

  • @reesie0414

    "Self defense?"

What the hell are you smoking...I want some. You see anyplace on the Wilson Combat webpage describing the specs for their Hunter handgun in .460 Rowland chambering where they advocate its use for anything but hunting? Owner Bill Wilson is one of this country's top hog hunters and he clearly had his Hunter handgun and his company's ammunition in mind when he decided to offer the .460 Rowland chambering. IMO, Johnny used a slightly undersized test bbl, whiz factor.

  • @02840 you must be smoking something cause i didn't say anything about what there hangun's intended purpose was for. If you read carefully i said they sell downloaded .460 ammo tyhats intended for selfdefense/hunting. Just because its primary intent of use is for hunting doesn't mean it can't serve dual purpose, Mattr of fact if you go to Georgia arms website they have an even hotter load for self defense, Its a 185 grain at around 1400fps...just over 10mm and .45 super.

  • Its a shame you cant get it now been discontinued

  • make a good hog gun

  • im trying to order the gun but i cant find this sexy gun?!?!? were in the world can i find to order this 460. rowland? Do they also have the springfield operator 460. rowland?

  • THIS, is a PDW!!!

  • I am SOLD and I get you POINT! Where can I get one and for how much?

  • what kind of 44 magnum was that ;o?

  • Does he know that there is big differents among the revolver and the sub pistol arm. For start that revolver don't have a massive bolt/slide absorbing the recoil. If he used a 44mad DE would be a better comparsions of what he is trying to depict.

  • The .460 has never approached full power .44 Rem. Mag. in any pistol version. Compare the carbine version to a .44 Mag Ruger carbine. Almost every load available for the .44 Mag is well above 1000 ft.lbs. of energy out of a pistol. Many loads are well above the 1400 ft.lbs. Rowland is touting in the carbine version out of a standard 7 1/2" barreled pistol. Sounds like so much smoke up the ole ass to me. Compare apples to apples and oranges to oranges not apples to oranges! Grow a set, get real!!

  • I still don't understand, if the overall length is the same, why a 460 Rowland cartridge won't fire in a regular .45ACP?

  • @pilatunes I think its like 1/8in longer really.

  • @pilatunes the overall lenghthe of a loaded round is the same but the case is slightly longer. A 460 rowlands chamber area where the case meets the inside of the chamber wall is longer. The bullets is set back further in the case to keep the overall lenghth the same to allow it to function in .45 acp magazines. Hope that clears that up for you

  • @reesie0414 Thank you

  • Awesome home defense gun lol

  • I really miss the "The Shooting Show". Johnny had a lot of great gun videos. Does Johnny sell the old shows?

  • Johnny Rowland is a nice guy. just talked to him a few days ago.

  • WOW! Yeah, I'm sold of this caliber for sure!

  • Hey, Mr. Rowland, WE WANT IT! You friggin genius.

  • And I why was this gun discontinued?

  • @TheDemonican If you find out why please let us know. We've reached out to MPA to find out why they discontinued and have yet to receive a response. However, we are working on some other carbine and pistol combinations that should more than make up for losing MPA.

  • @krismillsap ah, about 2 weeks ago I was lucky enough to fire one, and damn, that gun has some power to it! Without the kick! Haha and yeah, I'll try to find out whats up with the discontinuation of this gun,

  • @krismillsap MPA is junk any way.

  • @krismillsap i saw this gun in a NEW Gun magazine so its NOT discontinued!!

  • Dude, that gun is the def of beast!

  • Call me crazy but...

You ever consider investigating in a concealed-carry line?

A .460 rowland 1911 in officer-size with the muzzle brake imbedded more into the slide to maintain its small dimensions.... That'd be incredible.

  • Hm! Must research more about this.... I'm initially impressed.

  • Dang, I'm sold lol. I've been hoping to pick up one of Masterpiece Arms' guns, and was confused about what caliber I should get. This caliber is the answer. I mean, how many mac 10's will you ever have? Not many (if you're a normal person), so might as well get the most BA round you can get lol.

  • The trigger is not the best on these but the price is amazing for the muzzle energy you can dump into a target, really a poor man assault system. The ammo prices suck but its meant for someone who reloads already if you have a.45 acp die set there's really no out of pocket cost for ammo.

  • 250 grain .44 Magnum 1,250 ft·lbf 255 grain .460 Roland 685 ft·lbf. It is about half as strong but he sure is right it is stronger than a .45 ACP (hope no one tells him that the 10 mm auto is hitting about 750 ft·lbf with a 200 grain bullet, might just ruin his day). I was not very happy with my MPA 30. The gun sucked, but it had the cool feature that if you just tapped the trigger it would shoot 3 rounds.

  • You Sir, Are a Badass. I will be buying your products. Both the carbine/pistol setup, and a conversion. MORE VIDEOS PLEASE!

  • show us a wild boar hunting trip with all the hunters using this carbine. That is what I want to see.

  • to ensure the best 1911 for the 460 conversion, what 1911 does Roland himself carry?

  • I bought the 9mm... NOW THEY MAKE THIS ONE?! >:O

  • nice video wish i had the monies for one

  • it sexy made a 460 kit for the sig and glock

  • if ya can't go around something and ya can't go over it ya just go thru it... any questions ?

  • i'm in love don't tell my gf lol

  • Shooting milk jugs doesn't prove anything in ballistics. Impressive cartridge but would like to see ballistic gellatine test on permanent and temporal wound cavity.

  • I can see the value of this as a carbine cartridge, but I wouldn't want a pistol chambered @ that velocity. The recoil would be a bit nasty and make follow-up shots a bit slow.

.45 ACP works fine as a manstopper, 3" 00 buck works even better.

  • @Piklethedoodad

It's manageable in a pistol, if proper modifications are made to the pistol in question. A good compensator, a stiff recoil spring, as well as a heavier (steel-framed) weapon. IIRC, with those the recoil is about the same as that of a .45 +P out of an aluminum-framed 1911, or so I hear.

  • Rowland adds muzzle brakes to the MPA .460 to reduce recoil. And, I personally have shot a Clark .45 and it felt like a .22, as compared to my Beretta 9mm, which due to the heavy slide mechanism, and no brake, kicked nearly as bad as that .44. This is a good weapon for a home defense against multiple intruders... and pig hunting.

  • i dont feel that anything under 1,000fps can shoot something going sideways a good ways away. You have to aim ahead of it a bit which i would hate if a robber was the target

  • Im convinced.

  • Im intrigued... I live in minnesota and I have been looking for a neat target gun ive looked at mac clones for a while now and I believe Im going to settle with a MPA10 .45

BUT the reason I'm intrigued is that ive become bored with the thought of hunting deer with a rifle or bow and I became interested in pistol hunting. My question is can this firearm legally be used to hunt deer in .460 rowland? please send me a PM if so (CITE LAW PLEASE). This will definitley change my purchase if so!

  • Good video, kept my interest the whole time you got me interested in your cartridge

  • Is he trying to exaggerate the recoil of the .44 mag? When I shoot it the barrel doesn't end up pointing at the sky!

  • This do well further than 50 yards?

  • We'll be posting more videos shortly as well as launching a new site dedicated to all things .460 Rowland. Hope to see you all there.

  • Hey Johnny, this is Johnny. We met at the Dallas gun show. We were going to meet at the Haynesville Expo, but I could not make it. I wanted to show you one of the reasons for meeting. I will e-mail or call.

  • better get one before Eric Holder gets his way.

  • Well, the Ruger has no muzzle brake. Heck, watch Dirty Harry, and Callahan does the same wrist motion, heck, his whole arm goes up. And yes, it could be also a dramatization to convey the power of the .44 magnum. But I have shot a friend's Clark .460 and it feels like a .22 due to that perfect muzzle brake. OH, another example of recoil, I owned a Taurus P-92 9mm, and that would crank your wrist with target loads... so, give Johnny a break and get with the right gun and right bullet. John

  • Please- Dirty Harry depicts virtually nothing realistic about shooting or the 44 mag. Duh! Read my post -"commando" I OWN three 460 Rolands and a Mech Tech upper. None of which kick like a .22lr and no Taurus 92 OR Beretta 92/M9 I have ever shot with ANY load will "crank your wrist" Yes, Johnny is helping the Ruger to look like more recoil. Point is, he doesn't have to. Give US a break.

  • OK Johnny stop jerking the poor old Ruger Blackhawk skyward after every shot, was that a 60 round mag on the cinder block wall or just a little editing? 45acp ball on the milk jug vs hollow point with the Rowland?460 ROWLAND is REALLY superior to most any thing out there-10mm,400 Cor Bon, 50 GI and certainly 44mag out of a similar bbl and size package. I know you are trying to sell your product just be upfront. BTW I have a Mech Tech upper, 2 Custom built Caspians &15 shot Para all 460 Rowland!

  • lol, less recoil because that MAC 10 clone weighs a TON

  • Think it weighs as much as a hunting rifle...

  • yes,yes it does, I bought the MPA30 & the MPA10, & the things weight just about the same as my Romy. AK-47, if not more, feels like your lugging around a M1A shrunk into a pistol....lol, but they both are fantastic weapons!....& I luv the mass production military look with the reliability & function to boot

  • That's sick! I'd hate to have to feed that thing, though...

  • ok I'm sold I want one

  • LOL!!! I get your point now!....I need to buy the MPA 460 rowland now with an 16inch barrel...I have the MPA mini....its my favorite range toy.....built like a tank to last! I highly recommend Masterpiece Arms to any Gun Owners!

  • Yeah man..gotta get me one of those.

  • mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..... sweet sweet fire power.

Since they keep on trying to pass anti- assualt weapons bills we need to encourage everyone to get out and buy as many as they can so we can pass them on to our children if the new assualt rifle bans come into place.

  • Ammo is out of stock everywhere. Of course if you use a FMJ compared to a HP the jug will blow up.

  • I bet the ammo is $5.00 a round.

  • worth it

  • Actually, it is approx. $30 for 50 rounds retail and is available through Georgia Arms.

  • @krismillsap so you live in georgia.. i live in gwinnett where are you located and where'd you get your gun i love these guns

  • @krismillsap If you handload, it's $0.57 a round using Starline Brass, Hornady XTP bullet, Wolf primer and Hodgdon or Alliant powder ...and if you reload, it's between $0.21 and $0.32 a round!

About the same cost as a 10mm but with (can't believe I'm saying this) MORE POWER!!

  • Is Cor-Bon the only one making .460 Rowland?

  • Awesome video for a great firearm. Long time lover of the MAC series weapons and new owner of the Masterpiece Arms semi's. I just recently picked up the 9mm mini and .45 and this new beast will be next on my list. Thank you MA for improving and keeping the MAC alive....5 stars!!!
