Michael will never sing like Brad, and Brad WILL NEVER sing like Michael. I like both singers, but, to compare those guys is just the most dumbless thing to do in the whole world! Brad rocks! Michael rocks. And you, mr. "I'm the old school guy with my never-changed opnion about rock'n'roll" really, really sucks!
Every year one of the local radio stations has a "Memorial Day 500". Which is listener voted top 500 rock songs of all time. In the last 25 years, More than a Feeling, has been #1, 14 times. The other 11?, Stairway to Heaven...
Michael Sweet is great singer in Stryper but Boston, that is not he´s style, Brad Delp is unique and irreplaceable. The best cover of this song I listened is from Ingram Hills. Really good sound.
@Ktronica Perhaps you´re under the influence of your personal taste but Michael Sweet is a great rock and heavy metal singer with a powerful voice.. he also knows how to sing harmonies...and happen he plays lead guitar very well. I love Brad vocals singing along with Barry but what can we do? that´s the band there is.. and Carlo & Sweet did it very well (my humble opinion)
@cantoresdefreites Michael Sweet should not be the replacement.... He sounds like Stryper....... and can't sing or hit the high notes like Brad either....... Replace Brad? That's impossible it seems and very sad this happened!!
@jamzusa um.. he is replaceable..as he is replaced dumbass. I went to the comments page and you've been a busy little troll.. you have your opinion okay..and that's kewl.. but Brad Delp is DEAD.. for whatever the connotations of your reply to me, it matters not what he did, why he did it.. he did it, and is DEAD and therefore REPLACED.. got it? He ain't here and if your purist self can't see past a band moving on, then you got some issues. get over yourself.. for your sake okay?
@Ktronica Evidently, Delp is replaceable. He's dead, and welp, you are right, I mean, Delp had a very unique voice, however, Sweet is also capable of hitting the high "C". Also, Michael Sweet didn't kill himself in a bizarre barbeque 'ing' suicide. Kinda gives new meaning to the name of that song, "Smokin" don't it? I'm sure that he had more than a few feelings that went unchecked that led him to lose his peace of mind. Who would you recommend? Or are you such a purist, you'd call it quits?
@Polt318 Um, he is NOT replacable... Michael Sweet canNOT hit the notes Brad could......... People kill themselves for all kinds of reasons but obviously the pain inside is the main reason someone does this. I know..
Sweet was and is there at just the right time! With Shultz doing what he does best, Tommy living his dream and Sweet's production experience - it is time for a new cd!
@laylow12000 Your judging audio that is from a digital camera or a phone. I have watched some other clips of Boston on the 2008 tour and they sound great! Actually sound better then they have in some time.
I think we can all agree Brad's voice was amazing, unique, and hard to compete with. While Michael is no Brad Delp, he's still doing a pretty awesome job. People should be thankful that Boston is still even playing music... would you rather have them continue playing great songs, or just stop completely? I personally would rather they keep going... So just enjoy them for what they are people :)

@StephenHardyMusic ... What a terrible thing to say. Tom was devastated when Brad died but had the courage and strenght to continue. He gave us all this amazing music and all you can do is insult him now? And what incredible things have you acomplished in your life that make you such a worthy critic ??
@dessertjeff ... Yes, Tom Scholz was Boston. He wrote basically all the songs. I'm aware of that. Tom did a good job on trying to continue, so kudos to him, but the lineup is gay. Seriously, a head-banging drummer that belongs in a bad 80's music video, a girl who wears a cowgirl hat, a lead singer who wears eye shadow, it is NOT Boston.
And critics don't have to be successful, they just have to be critics.
@StephenHardyMusic Unless you have some amazing musical talant and are going some where with it you shouldent insult Tom Sholze, an enginer grad, owner of 32 pattents, and the writer and mastermind of Boston's 60 million albums sold! I guess they sucked so bad on the greatest hits tour thats is why they played 50 shows and sold allot of them out. Go read the reviews they were very positive.
Congrats for Micheal he hit that as good as anyone except Brad could! Happy to see Boston pull together after the tribute and go on tour and planing on putting out a new album sometime in 2010.
I love Boston, and I love Stryper. Different kinds of music, both incredible in their own rights. Brad Delp's voice was instantly recognizable. But Michael Sweet is every bit the vocalist Brad was....again, just different. Michael is one of a very short list that could pull off Brad's incredible vocals.
I never had the pleasure of hearing Boston live, but I have heard Michael Sweet many times. In my 25+ years of concert going I have never heard a better "live" singer than Michael Sweet. The guy is nearly flawless.
Would be cool to get to hear Boston on tour with him.
@GuitarScratchRemover Michael Sweet canNOT sing as high or as good as Brad Delp no contest! LISTEN TO HIS VOICE AND COMPARE... geez... Two different human beings to begin with and Brad was a much better singer. You canNOT replace Brad and it's very sad.
Hi jamzusa, If you read my original post, I never said Sweet was better than Brad. I merely said in the many concerts I have been to, Sweet is the best live singer I personally have heard on more than one occasion (in my opinion). That doesn't mean he's the best on the planet or better than Brad. In fact, I wasn't even making a comparison between the two even though you are. I was just saying I wouldn't mind hearing Sweet sing with Boston.
@theaterdreamer I disagree about Michael Sweet completely. He canNOT hit the notes Brad can and proves it in this song. Good to say something nice about Michael though but not accurate at all.
watch the video, In God we trust, its a perfect vocal performance, and... he hits a pitch that is higher than any boston song ever recorded, and this was live mind you
floridaredhead: true, but do you want the song retired? Do you never want anyone to sing it again? Do you want the band to break up? No. Well, then let's embrace the newest members and give them some respect. They are good.
It is indeed sad, but what song are you referring to? Tom Scholz wrote "More Than A Feeling" along with virtually all the other Boston songs...alone and in his basement.
Yeah, but I still agree with your original sentiment: very sad that Brad got to a point where he felt he had to take his life. It also freaks me out a bit that I met these guys while in college before you were born. :-) For a really sad R&R story, check out "Badfinger" one of the best bands of the early 70's and expected to be the next "Beatles" by many before the two front men took their own lives.
@Skiddledeedoo Funny but not funny your last comment there... Yeh, it's sad he's gone and was one of the best if not THE best in his day... NOT replacable ESPECIALLY by this Michael Sweet guy. Everyone seems to be tone deaf and can't tell when someone's hitting high notes or not. Michael canNOT hit the notes Brad did and sounds like Stryper....
Of course there will never be another Brad Delp! But I like it that a normal everyday Dad has a chance to live a dream come on people This is America be real
Not a bad video, I haven't wanted to see any of the concerts from this year, even when they were here in concert in July. I last saw them in July of 03, Brads, beautiful, perfectly precisioned voice, it was what I fell in love with since they debuted in Aug of 1976, the 1st three albums with just his voice singing lead and all the harmony, what a very sad loss for Brad's millions of fans, we've lost so much good music with his passing. I hope you have found your peace of mind, on the other side.
I agree. Michael Sweet has a great voice. And Boston is one of my favorite bands. For metal. I cringed when I found out he was singing for Boston. I just don't see the two as compatible.
Ach. Messed up my own words. What I was trying to say is that Michael Sweet has a great voice for metal, but not necessarily the best voice for Boston.
Brad is one of my favorite vocalists of all time. I guess your post just shows how stupid you are. You obviously missed my point, but I'm sure you miss a lot of points. Dolt.
kstarheel5150: I couldn't believe you said that. I met Brad Delp in person, even got a chance to shake his hand. He's very nice person, and not arrogant. If you have nothing to say, just don't insult.
OMG! Can you read? I didn't insult Brad. The older he got, he didn't sing as high and other singers helped out. That's it, that was the point. It's not an insult, it's an observation. I love Brad, one of the top 5 best singers EVER! Good lord... quit reading more into the post. I didn't say he couldn't sing, he just didn't have the range he used to.
The tendency is there for your notes to become lower as you age. I think, however in comparison to other singers, Brad maintained a fairly decent quality. If you hear Jimi Jamison from Survivor, you'll know what I mean. That is deterioration. Brad, however, is easily among the best five ever and has a solid argument in my book for the first natch.
Michael is also very generous with his time, as his wife is fighting ovarian cancer. I hope this brings them some good income to help them get past this financially-draining situation. God bless you, Michael.
Tommy Decarlo should be singing this song! Michael Sweet aint no Brad Delp! Now Tommy can really pull off the Brad Delp impersonation but Michael can't.
if they could have picked up the tempo a little it wouldn't have been nearly as bad, he was forced to sustain high notes longer, but i think he did a damn good job. there are certain singers nobody can replace (Mercury, Perry, DDY, Peter Cetera, Delp), so it's not fair to give someone talented heat for trying.
Michael has more talent by himself then ANYONE who was ever in this horrible band. Mike, don't be like 1992...leave this garbage band and start on the new STRYPER album.
brad is a great singer, and michael sweet as well. you really cant compare them since they have different style. There are brad's song that mike cant sing, and there Michael sweet's song that brad cant sing because of michael sweet's range. Try to see In God we trust song by STRYPER. Theres no way brad can reach those high notes from start to the end of the song..
I think it is great what Tom Scholz is doing - you know Walking On even without Delp. Michael Sweet does a terrific job on More Than A Feeling sounding as good as ever live!!!!!
sweet rly didnt sound great here....but u cant say he's a bad singer, look up some stryper stuff thats recent and u'll see he's still got a great voice
I really think that Tom should start another group if he chooses, and leave Boston as we all should remember them. Brad Delp was and is one of the greatest voices of rock and Boston can never be even close without him.
Honoring Brad is cool but PLEASE do not try to replace, it cannot be done.
although i agree (in theory) that he cant be replaced.... i think the greater tragedy would be to start other bands and letting the music die ... Michael Sweet will do a great job and do a great justice to the music
Everyone is entitled to speak their minds without having anyone complain. I understand Boston wants to honor Brad but this is not the voice for the job. Fran would be a better choice and would honor him well. The world lost a great singer when Brad left so let us celebrate by honoring him with someone who can do the job. No one can replace a lead singer and to try is not fair. I hope they make it but I will not be able to be there as I am still choked up about Brad. Get another singer!
This sorry 80s religious cheesedick shouldn't grace the same stage as Brad Delp did. Sorry Tom Scholz do the honorable thing and start another band with a different name but don't drag the great name of Boston though the dirt with this cheep crap. Michael Sweet sounds like a hasbeen 80s glam rocker that needs to have a loser show like Bret Michaels.
SmokinJoeC.....God will honor each and everyone's opinion. God will not judge lest he be judged hmmm....sad case, someone who has an opinion is a sad case? Rethink that my friend some of us are still upset by the death of Brad and we all take it out in different ways....If you know music the way others do then you would also agree this isn't the man for the job. Some of us are more colorful in our interpretation of it but it is their opinion and I will honor that.
Sweet did a great job of standing in for someone who could sadly not be there to share their art. There should be no more Boston without Brad as he was irreplaceable. While I enjoyed Queen w/Paul Rodgers, it should have been called something else, instead of casing in on a "Trademark"
you're a traditionalist, you don't like change, I understand where you are coming from, there's been very few bands who replace their lead vocalist w/ much success.
in fact the only band that comes to mind is AC/DC brian Johnson did a great job replacing Bon Scott.
perhaps boston might be better off going for a completely new sounding frontman, instaed of trying to find someone who sounds like Brad, but that would be a bummer for all their classic songs..well just have to see.
The fans want a memorial reunion tour for Brad w/ Barry, Fran, Sib and Fran C. Will Tom "the great" listen to the fans? He never has! He yukked up the greatest band ever in 1980. Eat shi* Tom.
getchasum behave yourself! Sweet saved the show..don't know what Sammy and Mickey's problems were (don't care either), but he did a decent job. There's NO ONE that really could've replaced Brad anyway.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
all you fawners of Scholz ask yourselves this...... where the fuck was barry goudreau? He wasnt here cuz he knows that Tom is responsible in part for Brad killing himself! Scholz is a piece of scum-sucking SHIT !!!
I don't know what these guys are talking about but Michael Sweet did a awesome job! Take into consideration Brad Delp had one of those voice that no one can duplicate, and Michael did just about as good as a job as anyone could. Stryper and Boston rocks!!!
I am a huge Boston fan. Met Brad, seen so many concerts. I appreciate the post but they played this too slow and there were so many better choices than this dud singing. Forgot the E on purpose.
Michael will never sing like Brad, and Brad WILL NEVER sing like Michael. I like both singers, but, to compare those guys is just the most dumbless thing to do in the whole world! Brad rocks! michael sweet is fucking amazing.
terminus1256 3 years ago 2
Sweet is to STYXX and REO Speedwagon sounding - too operatic, big, extended vibrato better for Broadway than Boston.

Michael Sweet rocks with Stryper but he can't clearly nail this song. I love MS but i miss Brad Delp. Rock on BOSTON!
Check out my video with Arnel Pineda (Journey) with his former band ZOO performing this song.
ndgomez777 3 years ago
Arnel Pineda did a great job covering this boston song!
patiently88 3 years ago
I agree. Michael Sweet has a great voice. And Boston is one of my favorite bands. For metal. I cringed when I found out he was singing for Boston. I just don't see the two as compatible.
KevJSings 3 years ago
Ach. Messed up my own words. What I was trying to say is that Michael Sweet has a great voice for metal, but not necessarily the best voice for Boston.

rest Brad Delp cuz back in the day i d play this song to a girl and uh yeah!!..nevermind here comes the wife
kingzomusic 3 years ago
Brad Delp couldn't carry this song by himself the older he got. Sweet did a great job.
kstarheel5150 3 years ago
kstarheel5150 - you couldn't carry a bag of your own turds! How dare you criticize Brad Delp. May he continue to rest in peace.
steve51704000 3 years ago
Brad is one of my favorite vocalists of all time. I guess your post just shows how stupid you are. You obviously missed my point, but I'm sure you miss a lot of points. Dolt.
kstarheel5150 3 years ago
Your point was beyond stupid, dorkus maximus. You don't even know what you're talking about, and you ride the short bus to work. I win!
steve51704000 3 years ago
kstarheel5150: I couldn't believe you said that. I met Brad Delp in person, even got a chance to shake his hand. He's very nice person, and not arrogant. If you have nothing to say, just don't insult.
kchea 3 years ago
OMG! Can you read? I didn't insult Brad. The older he got, he didn't sing as high and other singers helped out. That's it, that was the point. It's not an insult, it's an observation. I love Brad, one of the top 5 best singers EVER! Good lord... quit reading more into the post. I didn't say he couldn't sing, he just didn't have the range he used to.
kstarheel5150 3 years ago
Yes your right, plus, they were either doing songs in a different key or they tuned down when they tuned guitars, MS has a great voice.
longtalltexan63 3 years ago
The tendency is there for your notes to become lower as you age. I think, however in comparison to other singers, Brad maintained a fairly decent quality. If you hear Jimi Jamison from Survivor, you'll know what I mean. That is deterioration. Brad, however, is easily among the best five ever and has a solid argument in my book for the first natch.

obviously you understand nothing about suicide. no one was 'robbed' of anything.

..you should hear ARNEL PINEDA of the ZOO band do this..just type arnel zoo boston... more depth and more passion

Michael is also very generous with his time, as his wife is fighting ovarian cancer. I hope this brings them some good income to help them get past this financially-draining situation. God bless you, Michael.
modspell 3 years ago
Tommy Decarlo should be singing this song! Michael Sweet aint no Brad Delp! Now Tommy can really pull off the Brad Delp impersonation but Michael can't.
ZackT618 3 years ago
omfg i love this song but jeezus the singer slaughtered this..
xGxNxRx4eva 3 years ago
if they could have picked up the tempo a little it wouldn't have been nearly as bad, he was forced to sustain high notes longer, but i think he did a damn good job. there are certain singers nobody can replace (Mercury, Perry, DDY, Peter Cetera, Delp), so it's not fair to give someone talented heat for trying.
rhoadskid88 3 years ago 2
Michael has more talent by himself then ANYONE who was ever in this horrible band. Mike, don't be like 1992...leave this garbage band and start on the new STRYPER album.
ArcherofStars73 3 years ago
good job Mike
skot66 3 years ago 3
brad is a great singer, and michael sweet as well. you really cant compare them since they have different style. There are brad's song that mike cant sing, and there Michael sweet's song that brad cant sing because of michael sweet's range. Try to see In God we trust song by STRYPER. Theres no way brad can reach those high notes from start to the end of the song..
flinchz 3 years ago
Listen to the song "Honestly" by Stryper.
Nobody but Michael Sweet could sing it better.
Boston should be honored to have such a great vocalist.
jeyray7 3 years ago

I think it is great what Tom Scholz is doing - you know Walking On even without Delp. Michael Sweet does a terrific job on More Than A Feeling sounding as good as ever live!!!!!

Steve Perry! Steve Perry! Don Dokken! Ann Wilson! Jon Anderson Yes now there you go Jon anderson could still hit the high notes!

sweet rly didnt sound great here....but u cant say he's a bad singer, look up some stryper stuff thats recent and u'll see he's still got a great voice
boston rocks
Mixman47 3 years ago
To his defense, this has to be one of the hardest songs to sing on the planet.
Reg197844 3 years ago 2
agreed...the voice range needed to sing this is ridiculous.
bamaster38 3 years ago 2
I really think that Tom should start another group if he chooses, and leave Boston as we all should remember them. Brad Delp was and is one of the greatest voices of rock and Boston can never be even close without him.
Honoring Brad is cool but PLEASE do not try to replace, it cannot be done.
Danolsu 3 years ago
although i agree (in theory) that he cant be replaced.... i think the greater tragedy would be to start other bands and letting the music die ... Michael Sweet will do a great job and do a great justice to the music
trpt8 3 years ago
ARNEL PINEDA second demotion, if he will get fired from Journey
dmcebu 3 years ago
Everyone is entitled to speak their minds without having anyone complain. I understand Boston wants to honor Brad but this is not the voice for the job. Fran would be a better choice and would honor him well. The world lost a great singer when Brad left so let us celebrate by honoring him with someone who can do the job. No one can replace a lead singer and to try is not fair. I hope they make it but I will not be able to be there as I am still choked up about Brad. Get another singer!
muziklover9989 3 years ago
Arnel Pineda!
paiburong 3 years ago
this singer for Boston is NOT Arnel....that is my point get someone who sounds similar.....
muziklover9989 3 years ago
This sorry 80s religious cheesedick shouldn't grace the same stage as Brad Delp did. Sorry Tom Scholz do the honorable thing and start another band with a different name but don't drag the great name of Boston though the dirt with this cheep crap. Michael Sweet sounds like a hasbeen 80s glam rocker that needs to have a loser show like Bret Michaels.

SmokinJoeC 3 years ago
SmokinJoeC.....God will honor each and everyone's opinion. God will not judge lest he be judged hmmm....sad case, someone who has an opinion is a sad case? Rethink that my friend some of us are still upset by the death of Brad and we all take it out in different ways....If you know music the way others do then you would also agree this isn't the man for the job. Some of us are more colorful in our interpretation of it but it is their opinion and I will honor that.

Sweet did a great job of standing in for someone who could sadly not be there to share their art. There should be no more Boston without Brad as he was irreplaceable. While I enjoyed Queen w/Paul Rodgers, it should have been called something else, instead of casing in on a "Trademark"
nizzt 4 years ago
you're a traditionalist, you don't like change, I understand where you are coming from, there's been very few bands who replace their lead vocalist w/ much success.
in fact the only band that comes to mind is AC/DC brian Johnson did a great job replacing Bon Scott.
perhaps boston might be better off going for a completely new sounding frontman, instaed of trying to find someone who sounds like Brad, but that would be a bummer for all their classic songs..well just have to see.
MOSKII58 4 years ago
Wow amazing job. But I expect no less from Michael Sweet. The guy is a true talent
