@fenderrlee@fkridge I no longer despise Rush. I used to can't stand them but I don't despise them anymore. The artists I hate the most are Justin bieber and Nickelback.
anyone wanting to send me their phone number by replying to me i took over 100 pictures from the Front row of last nights show the first one in 24 yrs in Seattle. I will be happy to text some great pictures of them to you.
I'm only 22 and this is the only album i have ever wanted to own that has come out while i have been alive. If i could go back in time id rather see The Cars then The Beatles or Elvis. Ric Ocasek is a God.
Yeah! my favorite band is back. People on the radio have been dissing it so I came online and checked it out and they just do not know what they are talking about. I am sure to pick up the album, I think it sounds great. Keep at it Cars!
I love these guys. they so much captured my attitude growing up." yea, yea!!!" it's that they're making music that is timeless with clever lyrics and was futuristic for it's day when they came out. "so right here I'm gonna melt inside of you!" I think everyone, including the cars, miss Ben!
Was a big fan of theirs, but I never really dug that electronic-y keyboard sound that EVERY band in the 80's did. It sounds much like their late 80's stuff. I like their earlier sound better.
@HEYITSTHATGUY09 I thought it was and then I went an got the official news on it. Good tune. I'm glad the real cars are back; regardless that Orr is gone.
Please drop the formula writing and go back to the feeling and heart you had in the first 2 albums, get Roy Thomas Baker or another great producer and create something to be remembered by and to be proud of. It sounds like you've run out of money and are desperate to release anything to make you solvent again.

It sounds like you've run out of money and are desperate to release anything to make you solvent again.
Jesus, Elliot Easton blew up to about 300 lbs and Greg Hawkes looks in worse shape than Stephen Hawking and I agree, dude playing drums had the mannerisms I remember of David Robinson, but sure as hell didn't look like him. Only cat in that video that doesn't like like he's changed is Ric. And of course, it's still not the same without Ben Orr.
I am glad there are some people that can type good things about great ROCK AND ROLL without mentioning the likes of "newer" artists who SUCK. (Will not mention names because mentioning these names would only TAINT this page).
I'm a HUGE Cars fan, and I'm really looking forward to this new album. This clip does'nt let me know what they're really gonna sound like (its only 1:14 long). I want to know if they can recapture the old "magic" (lol) WITHOUT Benjamin Orr.
It's actually great to her some new tunes from these guys again. As a 42 year old guy, this puts me right back in high school listening to Heartbeat City and the like. Kinda comforting in a strange, CARS retrospective way. Great rock/pop lives on.
Well, I know they used drum machines (you can even see some here) and processed drums quite a lot; I just thought the guy behind the drums here didn't look much like David. Hard to tell.
@doninwv God only knows. Yes, he's in the vid, but is that him playing ??? Sounds like its an electronic drum.Yuk ! During the Heartbeat City sessions, Robinson was pissed cuz he wasnt using "regular" drums ! Can you blame him ? But uber-producer Mutt Lange was at the helm and David had NO choice. Pre-programmed 100%, also called: fake. Just listen to the drum sound on the 1978 debut, compared to 1984's Heartbeat City. NO comparison. 1978 wins hands down !! Sad but true.
These new songs do sound a lot like Nexterday. But hopefully the new album will be a success, if thats even possible these days, with music downloads and iTunes and such.
Listen, I acknowledge your point. Yes Ric is the driving, creative force. But my point is, I think most Cars/music fans are excited by their return and don't give a fuck about the rest.
This fawner thinks it sounds real good. Mr. GetC has a point, however he is ignorant about the value of a band's chemistry, history and the solid muscianship of the remaining players. The Cars' catalogue and legacy has held up very well. Let's just all enjoy without filtering this welcome return through a layer of cynical shit.
@bramblemen Chemistry ??? In concert, maybe. On disc, NO ! These songs would sound IDENTICAL without the other Cars (just listen to Nexterday, Ocaseks last solo album). How can there be audio chemistry if the sound is no different without the others ?? Ben Orr DID provide a balance, but with him now gone, Ocasek truely IS in the "drivers seat" Keep in mind EVERY Cars song was penned by Ric. I'd say thats pretty much a "one man show" ! So please no "chemistry" talk !!
@bramblemen Furthermore, as for the drums here, its only a slight improvement over their mid-80's work, where David Robinson could have exited the drum kit MID-SONG and the beat wouldn't have changed ! (I'm talking in concert, live) Trust me, their "Door to Door" 1987 tour had THE most electric "plugged-in" drum sound EVER heard. So sorry if I'm "cynical", its the hard truth !!!
Look all you fawners, here is the deal with this whole thing: this is NO more than an Ocasek solo album. C'mon, he writes em all, and now (with Ben gone) sings them all. This coulda been on ANY Ocasek solo album. As for the others, they were gathered to call it "the Cars", which WILL attract a wider audience. Whether Ric wants to tour or not is another matter. He realizes this is his only hope of attracting sizeable audiences. 24 yrs is a long time people...will the audience still be there ?
impossible to overstate the profound excitement and gratitude i personally feel for the reunion of such special talents -- and especially in combination... whatever the reasons, this is a gift to the world, so sincere thanks are in order from those inside and outside the music industry -- the cars are far more than just 'pop music' and someday this will be fully realized...
Awesome! Loving this sample and the other one too, "Sad Song". So glad that Ric relented and chose to reunite the guys and put out some kick-ass new stuff! Can NOT wait for the new CD!!

Who else clicked a link to this and IMMEDIATELY thought..."oh hell yes this is The Cars!" Especially at that chorus, definitely The Cars.

Hmm, David Robinson actually looks like himself this time around.
When we last saw him in the last interview with Ben Orr, he looked more like Phil Hartman.

could be a part of this.
