First of all Atlantis was not the Americas or ancient Greece. It was a contenent size island, like Asutralia between Europe and the Americas. This continent was destroyed by natural disaters like vulcanic activity, war and a changing world where the ice from the last iceage was melting. The fact that so many evidence points to different possible locations just proves that Atlantis was a global power and had many "colonies" where their knowledge and power was known.

That's interesting. And Gobekli Tepe is one of the oldest civilizations known to mankind and it was really advanced so why couldn't Atlantis have been?

Most likely one was the last one. Elephants might have been obliterated along with the city and in most cases of story telling, the date is exaggerated but still contains some truth. But I am probably wrong.

Its very silly for scientists to say 100% when human civillisation began because new cities (some very ancient like puma punku, tiahunaco, baalbek etc) are being discovered all the time. These cities even pre-date egypt so why mainstream scientists still ignore them is plain bizarre and we can all smell something fishy.

pretty much the only person in the ancient times who wrote about atlantis in any seriousness is Plato. even in his time, people thinks of it as a myth and his work of it was fiction story or an ideal metaphor. only in modern time does any1 really took the story of atlantis seriously

@penitent2401 i can def see that side of the coin but they did say the same thing about troy. who knows? i wouldn't say i believe in atlantis per se but i do believe that human civilization began a lot earlier then sumer and egypt. huge areas of coastland was lost at the end of the last ice age. those ruins off the coast of india and cuba not to mention gobekli tepe in turkey may not prove it 100% but even the most skeptical should atleast be able to acknowledge that something doesn't add up.

@TheMoosenuts it's possible, australian aboriginals trace their civilization back up to 40 thousand years with alot of art works on stone and caves dating back over 20 thousand years. we know human civilisation exists in australia then, so it's definately possible other civilisations start building cities over 10-15,000 years ago. but troy has alot of sources confirming its existence, atlantis and some others have very few sources, often only 1 dubious one.
