14:10 - I smoke for medicinal purposes. That was a shocker. I never thought that expression was around in 1955. Makes it sound like a reference to smoking marijuana for medicinal purposes.
I've always loved The Honeymooners because my father always reminded me of Ralph Kramden. He looked and acted like Jackie Gleason. He had a temper and would scream and shout to make a point but we all knew that when the chips were down, he give us kids the shirt off of his back!
I've never seen this episode before and it was a heartbreaker. It reminded me of when Ralph took the puppy back to the pound and when Alice went to get him back, Ralph had adopted all the other dogs. Just like Daddy.
I have been a fan of The Honeymooners for decades (I'm just old enough to remember when the "classic 39" ran on prime time), but I hadn't seen this "lost episode" until this summer, when I viewed it on TV with my adopted daughter. Absolutely one of the best of the series. Disappointments and elusive dreams are routine, but the resolutions of the episodes are typically upbeat and hopeful. But here, one aches for the devastated Alice, as she cries softly at the end. Very touching.
Another heartbreaker 4 Ralph and Alice - I'm waiting 4 the day when Ralph beats the c**p out of GP,take away his child?? Alice should've fought with her husband!
Hey sir/maam, I absolutely cannot thank you enough for sharing these episodes, there are so many I have never seen, I grew up watching the "classic 39" with my Mom and Dad and as I got older, I fell in love with this series even more, and now I have a chance to see episodes I never seen before esp this one.....as you said this has to be the most highly regarded episodes, sad how it ended though. Thanks a million so much for sharing.

What a horrifying ending. They should have kept the baby. Who cares about what the mother wanted? She made her choice and needs to respect that.
