I read the book. Haunt seen this yet. But I also read kiss the girls and they butchered that movie. Why cant they just follow the og story? The book was successful without their shit version of it
I watched this movie like two weeks ago (in 2011, like ten years after if came out) but now I watch at least once a day. I have it fucking memorized. and the best quote, i think, is 'a mind is a terrible thing, i'm living proof' and then 'i think you just have a burning desire to rot in hell'
I read a couple of Patterson's books, and they are soo addictive. The book is definitely better but if ur into thriller's watching the movie is no waste of time. Im addicted to thrillers <3 I cant wait for Schumacher's new thriller "Trespass" to come out w/ Nicole Kidman and Nicolas Cage. Should be a good one!
i just finished reading the book yesterday and now watched the movie, and i gotta say that the book is much better than the movie. there's almost nothing in common between book and movie. they drop out lots of informations and there's no Sampson in the movie although he's Alex's partner in the book. And Morgan Freeman really did a great job playing Cross but he's too old for the role. =)
I've just finished reading the book and the whole way through I'd imagined Denzel Washington as Alex Cross... Anyway, first book I've read by James Patterson but it definitely won't be the last!
I LOVED this movie! I think it was the best adaptation of James Pattersons work! But I do think they could have done better, but it is what it is and I still loved the film. James Patterson is a GOD of police crime and mystery writing!
If you like the excellent James Patterson (writer of this story) you might well like this story too (about a serial killer who targets crime mystery writers and one of their readers – With Cold Hearts by David Hurst. See its underground trailer here: watch?v=AqjZuVjIATQ
@darthayneian Yes, but Will Smith is too young, he should be in his late 40's. Denzel Washingtong would be right (that's how I imagine Cross when I'm reading), and Sampson, well, that should be really a big man, because that's how Patterson describes him in the books: as a giant.
i saw this film a while ago and quite liked it. was staying with my mum and step dad this week and started reading the book as my step dad owns it. What a total hatchet job the film did of it. its basically just the overall theme of the book without any odf the in depth plot. Morgan freeman for all that he is a an amazing actor is just not right as Cross.
A remake of this movie would be nice, Denzel Washington or Jamie Fox would be a good Alex Cross. This movie screws it all up by turning one of the greatest thrillers into a generic dectective movie. The Psychological aspect of the book is not shown here, and they should make that if they ever make a remake.
r they takin Gary Murphy/Sanji er watever frum teh 0ne b00k nd givin him teh r0le of Jack nd Jill/Sam and Sarah from Jack and Jill wit The Games of All Games?! l0lz...
If you had any sort of respect for the novel, don't. It's a brutal sodomization of a great story. James Patterson and Alex Cross deserve better. I really hope this gets remade properly someday, just because Alex Cross deserves a halfway decent film adaptation.
yeah like it is also usually a major part of the story. and it is a big elemeent in the story in along came a spider. when nana mama doesnt want him to date the secret service woman whose name escapes me right now but yes. it frequently states his being a black man.
i find it incredibly annoying when people who have read the books think Alex Cross was a white man. as rocker577 said, it's stated repeatedly in the books that he is black.
@hollymorris94 - Its prob cos they listened to the audio book - as I did. The audio is Narrated by a white male - and I found that the dialogue also largely depicted a white male, not stereotypical of an educated black man who grew up in the hard parts of DC and is still rooted there.
Love the fact that everyone wants to spoil it. Love <3 this book, can't believe I didn't know there was a film. And yeah, I thought Morgan Freeman was kinda an odd choice too, seeing as Alex is supposed to be young and really tall and have huge muscles. But Freeman's an amazing actor so I don't know. Clearly, I'l just have to get the film now.
@TheActionGuy1 But in the books Cross often talks about himself as over a big black guy, Samson( (his partner) too. Cross lives in a part of the city where there are almost nothing else than black people, and often thinks about it.
@TheActionGuy1 oh but I didn't mean it badly you know. The books about Cross, I like them very much and, how bizar it can be, I can read a book 3 our 4 times, sometimes even more (not only Patterson), so everytime I read, I learn new things about Cross. (Sorry about my English but I'm from Belgium). :-)))
I found it odd that they cast Morgan Freeman as Alex Cross. Maybe I missunderstood the book but wasn't Alex described as being fairly young? Not to say that Freeman didn't play the heck out of Alex Cross but I just never pictured Freeman being Alex. Did anyone else feel this way?
@yourmomskates13 agreed. i pictured him as cross too. after i saw the show criminal minds i also kinda pictured the black guy from that show as cross. people could argue for denzel washington or will smith, but i dont think i would believe them in the role of cross.
@rocker577 yeah he is a little old for the role. tyler perry will be playing alex cross in the newsest one. he isnt the best choice, but more in the proper age range.
Wow did they make a lot of changes for the movie. They strayed a lot from the book, and I'm not just talking about Alex and Jezzie having sex(it made sense not to have that here).
Anyway, I think Will Smith has matured enough as an actor; he'd make a great Alex Cross.
after reading along came a spider i too didnt picture alex croos as morgan freeman mostly because of his age. but-he was made out to be older cause in kiss the girls his daughter jannie is a grown woman.
