  • I read the book. Haunt seen this yet. But I also read kiss the girls and they butchered that movie. Why cant they just follow the og story? The book was successful without their shit version of it

  • they totally ruined the book...the movie isn't even close to it

  • Nobody else could play Alex Cross

  • this movie is nothing compared to book. I hate when they make a movie after book and change or leave out so many things that happened in the book

  • I watched this movie like two weeks ago (in 2011, like ten years after if came out) but now I watch at least once a day. I have it fucking memorized. and the best quote, i think, is 'a mind is a terrible thing, i'm living proof' and then 'i think you just have a burning desire to rot in hell'

  • I read a couple of Patterson's books, and they are soo addictive. The book is definitely better but if ur into thriller's watching the movie is no waste of time. Im addicted to thrillers <3 I cant wait for Schumacher's new thriller "Trespass" to come out w/ Nicole Kidman and Nicolas Cage. Should be a good one!

  • i just finished reading the book yesterday and now watched the movie, and i gotta say that the book is much better than the movie. there's almost nothing in common between book and movie. they drop out lots of informations and there's no Sampson in the movie although he's Alex's partner in the book. And Morgan Freeman really did a great job playing Cross but he's too old for the role. =)

But movie is great if you didn't read the book =)

  • Book was amazinq, i now became a huge fan of james patterson. Now ima check out the movie

  • I've just finished reading the book and the whole way through I'd imagined Denzel Washington as Alex Cross... Anyway, first book I've read by James Patterson but it definitely won't be the last!

  • The book was amazing! The movie was good but they left out some elements from the book.

  • best movie ever. and enyone who watched it know why

  • lol the bad guy is obviously JIGSAW, i mean can't you hear his voice.

  • 0:35 where in the movie is that?

  • @MsSinbad100

Where she's hugging her parents? They cut that out, I have no idea why. lol

  • @MsSinbad100 That's part of the alternate ending. It was cut along with that scene and re-filmed because of negative test audience responses.

  • I LOVED this movie! I think it was the best adaptation of James Pattersons work! But I do think they could have done better, but it is what it is and I still loved the film. James Patterson is a GOD of police crime and mystery writing!

  • @1:00 oh shit thats Jigsaw !!

  • i think denzel washignton could be a good alex cross as i watch kiss the girls the movie

  • I always imagined alex cross as idris elba and sampson as denzel washignton.

  • after reading some comments i decided to buy this book online and read it

  • @sergey023 The best book you will ever read, seriously.

  • If you like the excellent James Patterson (writer of this story) you might well like this story too (about a serial killer who targets crime mystery writers and one of their readers – With Cold Hearts by David Hurst. See its underground trailer here: watch?v=AqjZuVjIATQ

  • Apparently there's a sequel in the making- Along Came A Scorpion

  • @screenjunky lol

  • i love morgan freeman but he doesn't fit in...alex cross if like 39 in the book..and here in the movie he's like 50..

  • Morgan freeman......... nuff' said

  • i love morgan freeman - hes a fantastic actor. But i GUARENTEE you the book is better!

  • @silvershields the book is a thousand times better...gary soneji doesnt die

  • @thebomberman1967 thanks now all the people who read that comment have the book AND the movie ruined for them!

  • @silvershields just, saying, the movie ruined it....if you read the book, you have to read cat and mouse

  • i think it was better if their gave the role of alex cross to denzel washington or will smith.

  • @darthayneian Yes, but Will Smith is too young, he should be in his late 40's. Denzel Washingtong would be right (that's how I imagine Cross when I'm reading), and Sampson, well, that should be really a big man, because that's how Patterson describes him in the books: as a giant.

  • @marinadelphine sampson could be that big black guy from the green mile movie

  • @TheActionGuy1 Yes, but Shemar Moore is really nice to look at and his age should correspond the age of Sampson.

  • Dwayne Johnson for Alex Cross dammit!

  • the twist to the movie is definatly rememberable

  • i saw this film a while ago and quite liked it. was staying with my mum and step dad this week and started reading the book as my step dad owns it. What a total hatchet job the film did of it. its basically just the overall theme of the book without any odf the in depth plot. Morgan freeman for all that he is a an amazing actor is just not right as Cross.

  • A remake of this movie would be nice, Denzel Washington or Jamie Fox would be a good Alex Cross. This movie screws it all up by turning one of the greatest thrillers into a generic dectective movie. The Psychological aspect of the book is not shown here, and they should make that if they ever make a remake.

  • r they takin Gary Murphy/Sanji er watever frum teh 0ne b00k nd givin him teh r0le of Jack nd Jill/Sam and Sarah from Jack and Jill wit The Games of All Games?! l0lz...

  • i always pictured Alex Cross as some like Jamie Foxx, not someone old like Morgan Freeman but he's still awsome

  • This was the first SAW movie before the title came in 2004

  • don't think i will see the movie. freeman is a great actor, but I don't think he fits the roll of alex.

  • If you had any sort of respect for the novel, don't. It's a brutal sodomization of a great story. James Patterson and Alex Cross deserve better. I really hope this gets remade properly someday, just because Alex Cross deserves a halfway decent film adaptation.

  • @TheTaiyakiGuy

i saw parts of it on tv. you are right, they do mess everything up.

  • I love this movie!

  • Wil smith? its no fresh pribce of Bell air, cross is à Black man not à coconut like Will Smith.

  • Did they make other films?

  • yeah they also made Kiss The Girls.

  • kiss the girls 2 ?

  • this issss a good moviee!

  • It really is a lot about him being black. Like a lot.

  • yeah like it is also usually a major part of the story. and it is a big elemeent in the story in along came a spider. when nana mama doesnt want him to date the secret service woman whose name escapes me right now but yes. it frequently states his being a black man.

  • i find it incredibly annoying when people who have read the books think Alex Cross was a white man. as rocker577 said, it's stated repeatedly in the books that he is black.

  • @hollymorris94 - Its prob cos they listened to the audio book - as I did. The audio is Narrated by a white male - and I found that the dialogue also largely depicted a white male, not stereotypical of an educated black man who grew up in the hard parts of DC and is still rooted there.

  • no he was black. not to be a douche but it repeatedly says that.

  • @rocker577 it's ok. thanks for the clear up. I'm not racist or anything, I just thought that sampson was the black guy. thumbs up

  • Love the fact that everyone wants to spoil it. Love <3 this book, can't believe I didn't know there was a film. And yeah, I thought Morgan Freeman was kinda an odd choice too, seeing as Alex is supposed to be young and really tall and have huge muscles. But Freeman's an amazing actor so I don't know. Clearly, I'l just have to get the film now.

  • I thought Alex Cross is white (I'm not being racist, I just imagine him as a white man whenever I read the Alex Cross books).

  • @TheActionGuy1 But in the books Cross often talks about himself as over a big black guy, Samson( (his partner) too. Cross lives in a part of the city where there are almost nothing else than black people, and often thinks about it.

  • @marinadelphine oh ok the first cross book I read was Double Cross

  • @TheActionGuy1 oh but I didn't mean it badly you know. The books about Cross, I like them very much and, how bizar it can be, I can read a book 3 our 4 times, sometimes even more (not only Patterson), so everytime I read, I learn new things about Cross. (Sorry about my English but I'm from Belgium). :-)))

  • I found it odd that they cast Morgan Freeman as Alex Cross. Maybe I missunderstood the book but wasn't Alex described as being fairly young? Not to say that Freeman didn't play the heck out of Alex Cross but I just never pictured Freeman being Alex. Did anyone else feel this way?

  • i actually dont picture freeman as alex too..

  • Isn't Alex Cross a white man in the series?

  • TheActionGuy1 read the book again...

  • rocker577 They should have use either Denzel Washington or Will Smith.

i would have personally chosen Will Smith to act this movie...

  • @rocker577 i pictured wesley spines as cross.... anyone else agree?

  • @yourmomskates13 agreed. i pictured him as cross too. after i saw the show criminal minds i also kinda pictured the black guy from that show as cross. people could argue for denzel washington or will smith, but i dont think i would believe them in the role of cross.

  • @rocker577 yeah he is a little old for the role. tyler perry will be playing alex cross in the newsest one. he isnt the best choice, but more in the proper age range.

  • the blonde girl is the baddie :) thought id ruin for ya

  • but she was a detective and she was morgan freemans freind

how can she be the baddie ? then why did soneji hit her ?

  • because iv seen the film

  • wasent the blonde girl a detective ?

  • yes but its a twist in the film... watch it. its a great film

  • have it on dvd

  • Looks pretty good. Soneji sounds weird with that deep voice. Half way through the book. Loving it.

  • the blonde girl is the baddiiiiiiiiiii

  • Just finished it. It's epic. Don't know if I should watch the film incase it ruins the book....

  • Its a brilliant film

  • Brilliant book. OK film.

  • Movie isn't bad, but after reading the book, Majorly Disappointed about it.

  • Wow did they make a lot of changes for the movie. They strayed a lot from the book, and I'm not just talking about Alex and Jezzie having sex(it made sense not to have that here).

Anyway, I think Will Smith has matured enough as an actor; he'd make a great Alex Cross.

  • theyre looking into denzel and jamie foxx for the new cross movie :)

  • after reading along came a spider i too didnt picture alex croos as morgan freeman mostly because of his age. but-he was made out to be older cause in kiss the girls his daughter jannie is a grown woman.

  • That's not true at all. Jannie is not a grown woman in Kiss the Girls! It's his niece Naomi who's kidnapped.

  • i mean in the movie kiss the girls jannie is a grown woman, but a young woman. she was played by layla ali

  • I thought Alex Cross was a white guy in the books.

  • the book was outstanding and while this film didnt do it any justice, michael wincott and mika boorem's acting, particularly michael wincott's, was the only thing that made it watchable for me.

  • I LOVE the book and I NOW LOVE the movie!!♥

  • the twist in this movie was amazing

  • I am reading all the books about Alex Cross, I did n't imagine him as Morgan Freeman, but Freeman is really a great actor and he is, as someone else wrote: absolutely amazing. P.S: Patterson is an amazing writer, I read his books in no time, always GOOOOOOOOOOD

  • i agree ive read many books and i cant see morgan as alex its just weird!!

  • I agree with you on both points. I read the books too (still reading the series) and I too can't fathom Morgan Freeman, as great an actor as he is, playing as Alex Cross. As a matter of fact, Cross is a young guy. (Unlike Joh Cory from Nelson DeMille books.) Someone like Denzel, or maybe a new face should have played Alex in my humble opinion.

  • amazing movie

  • i really wish that the actor who played alex cross is handsomer....

  • yea but morgan freeman is absolutely amazing

  • morgan freeman better thwn denzel

  • yeah i think denzel washington would be gr8 in this movie 2...its easier to imagined him as alex cross especially when youve read the book...

  • I want to watch this movie on youtube but I can't find it.

    :(

I bought a used copy but it was so scratched! Im sad.

anyone know someone who can post the movie??

  • Looks nothing like the book.

  • I just read the book. It was friggin' awesome! By seeing the trailer, the film looks like it doesn't follow the book at all. What a disappointment. I'm not going to bother to see this. Fuck the movie. The Book is the movie!

  • FUCK THE BOOK! WHO READS ANYWAY!

  • lmfao, people read, it all depends on their lifestyle

  • Yeah reading will rot your brain!

  • Mr Freeman maybe old but his acting is always in a class of his own. This man never fail to shine in whatever role his playing.Just super..............

  • I read the book and i thought it was great!

I have yet to see the movie.

Im wonering if its as good as the book.....

  • The movie isn't even close to the book. They change everything. The book is one million times better!

  • luv this film!

  • i agree....Alex Cross is a younger male...they can't continue to put out movies with Morgan....he will be 60 before lil Alex is born

  • I think Denzel Washington would have been perfect for the role of Cross. Morgan Freeman's too old.

  • Dammit! I hate it when films screw up storylines!!! 1) Morgan Freeman may be a good actor but he's not Alex Cross for me, to start with, here he's at least 10 years too old. 2) There are 2 children kidnapped. 3)It's Soneji not Sonji. 4) It isn't the senators daughter, it's the daughter of a famous actress. 5) The whole plot appears to be different from the book. 6) Yes I do have issuses.

  • don't worry I totally agree with you lol I was watching this and I was like "Sonji?! WTF? "

  • Why are some of you saying Morgan Freeman shouldn't have been in this, if Cross wasn't Morgan, The film would have been SHIT!!!!!!!!!

    Love this Film

  • total agree if morgan wasnt in the film it wouldnt have been the same

  • sonji? isn't it pronounced So-nee-jee???? like it said in Cat and Mouse?

  • dude they didnt have mcdonalds part in the movie

  • WHAT???? are you serious???

  • Morgan freeman is awesome in this movie, however the movie itself is just ok

  • yeah i would expect this to be a Denzel Washington movie

  • someone younger should have played cross

  • Yeah, I agree with you there. Also, isn't Cross supposed to be in pretty good shape? Is Freeman?

Anyone know if any other Cross books have been turned into movies? Just found the series, and would be surprised if there wasn't another one.

  • kiss the girls a 1997 film, a sequel of this one. also starring morgan freeman as the role of the great homicide dectective of washington P.D. alex cross

  • No Morgan Freemon done good in this

  • hey, i recently bought kiss the girls. i liked it but i can't seem to find any trailers or clips from the movie on youtube. can any1 pls post a link? tqs.

  • Read the books! Ignore movie!

  • the book is much better, the movie doesn't even resemble the book. Tamahori was the wroooooong choice!

  • book is much better...

  • i think the next person to play alex should be will smith

  • and John sampson should be Martin lawrence stop joking, they could turn this to action/ comedy not a suspense film

  • THIS MOVIE ROCKS

  • Tjis is a very very very good movie ! I just saw it on TV !

  • the book was awesome!!!!!!!!!!

  • yo this movie rocked

  • i know, i love james patterson books to , i just finished kiss the girls and im getting ready to read along came a spider, alex cross is da man, but i dont no if the movies r good cuz i never seen them either but i heard kiss the girls was good and so is this 1

  • i love james patterson's books.

alex cross ones are my fave.

nvr seen any of the movie's though, are ty

    hey gd?

  • lol my name is Alex Cross. haha this is awesome

  • morgan freeman..

  • lol ive only seen the movie and the movie is diferent from the book so im like what r u talking about?

  • great book tats 4 sure

  • how did it end again? i read it years ago

  • the little boy died, but the girl lived, alex cross's girlfriend (i forget her name) kidnapped the little girl from sonjei's barn an put her with a family in scotland to work on a farm. eventually she was found, and the girlfriend was put on the death penalty

  • oh yeah! i remember the boy dying and alex's gf being the culprit! thanks!i remember when i was reading the book i'd have nightmares about hostage scenes and kidnaps...weird but great too...i'm a geek i know!

  • its k im da same way

  • If you are talking about the book, its Jezzie Flannigan and the it was a family in Bolivia.

  • you mean jezzie flanagan

  • One of my fave films, it keeps you guessing to the end and I LOVE Michael Wincott!
