  • Pretty risky to build that much horsepower on a stock 302 block

  • 1:46 i wish i would of seen this video couple weeks ago ford that alt bracket set up.. smh!!

  • How much money did it take to build the engine

  • chevy orange paint?

  • at 1.17 minuts in whats with the holes punched were the intake gasket goes? nice build man.

  • Love the chevy orange block and water pump!! LOL

  • Awesome motor! I'm doing my research because I'm about to start on my 302 and I honestly don't know much at all about the 347. Can you give me some specifics on the carbs and headers? Did you bore the motor?

  • very nice

  • The engine is not yet broken ;) Actually it’s running perfectly. The problem with the oil is only a problem when you’re using the wrong (cheap) pistons. The one I use don’t have this problem. I’ve got around 7000 miles on the engine. 30% is on the track. So the engine is really being used to the max. No oil use at all!

The main trick is not to use budget parts when building a powerfull engine!

  • How long did the engine last? I hear a lot about side load on the pistons and an oiling issue. They say the longevity of the engine is maybe half the normal 302. What did you think about it? How many miles you got on it and how hard have you driven it?

  • wow this is what i should have done

to my 302 before putting in my ranger

it came to mind lol.mustangs are the best cars ever!

my dad has a krazy ass 428 in his 1970 mustang

  • nice

  • great video just wondering in the method used to polish the top section of the motor, iwish to do this to my block thanks.

  • how much does it roughly cost to build a 347 like that?

  • @1965mustangfb You have to realize that I live in Belgium (Europe) so buying the parts is a lot more expensive. The parts alone (including the special prepared c4 gearbox, exhaust) cost over 12.000 dollar! End than it still has to be put together….

  • @peerware Wow on the price!! Nice work!

  • that is about 6 grand right there :D

  • That really turned out well. 386 to the wheels is a great ride. Very nice!

  • Why would you build a motor like that and not put roller rockers on it ?

  • @jrpumper I didn't install the roller rockers because it wouldn't fit under the valve covers. I changed it and now the engine has the comp cams ultra gold rocker.

  • @peerware Had the same valve covers with crane gold rockers and they hit even with the baffle out.

  • @jrpumper i have that problem now. i used roller rockers on my build and now they tap the inside of the valve covers.

  • Nice build up mate! Did you get it dyno'ed yet? What do you estimate it pushes out? Mind if I ask how much it cost ya for the build up?

Also just curious as to why you didnt chuck in a set of roller rockers?

  • @FluffMuncher

I didn't install the roller rockers because it wouldn't fit under the valve covers. I changed it and now the engine has the comp cams ultra gold rocker.

Last time I tuned it on a dyno and it created 386 hp on 6800 rpm on the rear weels.

  • sir ur car is sex on wheels!!

  • very clean!

  • haha exactly like my dad painting his sbc in blue and saying '' it keeps the rust away''

  • "Chevy" orange adds an estimated 63 horsepower.

  • why you paint a ford block chevy orange?

  • @AKBray907

It's not chevy orange, its candy apple red ;)

The same color as the interieur and the striping of the car.

  • @peerware haha ok ok, as long as it aint the nasty orange that sucks horsepower

  • what is the advantage of a stroker vs a 351w?

  • The advantage in a 66 mustang is that it will fit without any trouble (and you will still be able to change the sparkplugs). If you put a 351W in a 66 mustang it won't fit without adjustments.

  • awsome video just one question what is it im looking at 1:31??

  • Black round thing with numbers on it is a harmonic balancer, shiny chrome thing on bottom is a Front sump oil pan, the bright shiny thing up front that has the edelbrock sticker is a manual fuel pump, the aluminum colored thing that the fuel pump mounts to is the timing cover, the zinc coated round thing with a nipple up top is the oil sending unit and it is mounted to an extension tube, the round white thing appears to be a Motorcraft FL-1A oil filter. Hope that helps.

  • yeah thanks i never actaully saw a manual fuel pump before thats where i was confused. thanks man

  • No problem, glad I could help.

  • Its a Mechanical Holley fuel pump

  • How did you go with the dyno tune? Do you have the numbers?

  • I still have to go, I planned to go but had some troubles. So maybe in the next season.

  • Very nice - what spec cam did you go with? How are the dual quads? They look great, but I bet they are a bugger to tune!

  • I used the "Edelbrock Performer RPM Hydraulic Flat Tappet Cam"

    -RPM Range: 1,500-6,500

    -Duration Adv: 296/296 Int/Exh

    -Duration @ .050": 236/236 Int/Exh

    -Lift: .572"/.572" Int/Exh

    -Lobe Separation: 108 degrees

The carbs will be tuned in about 3 weeks then i also will know the exact bhp on the weels.

  • I see you have a brake booster, does this power plant produce enough vacuum for the booster to work normally? Thanks!

  • Yes it does. But I'm not really satisfied about the complete braking set.

  • THAT IS SICK!..... great job on that! I'm planning to dismantle my 302 to port and polish it... how much is the power increase with this? i can suppose it's ALOT... ....so heres the billion dollar question (s)

    - Will this work in a 1978' mustang (5L. V8 302cu)?

-on a 1-10 scale....how hard is this? i mean i am new at this...(10 being the hardest)

    thanks! :D

  • Porting and polishing basically means that you are grinding metal out of the head ports to make the flow more efficiently. However, simply making the ports larger may actually reduce performance (eg lower gas velocity). Porting a head is not something you can do at home - for a proper porting job you need a flow bench and years of experience. If it is a stock 302, start with a new set of headers and a good dual plane manifold and go from there - porting should be last on your list.
