  • Is that Ben Stiller? >>;

  • Great idea. If you're low on tennis balls, you could always make a fist.

  • @AmbicionEterna or take your gi off lol

  • Great idea

  • you could also just not grip...

  • Or you could just train without the gi.

  • I never knew Ben Stiller taught bjj!

  • why not just roll without the gi if you dont want to use your grips?

  • @desicuellar because its not just grips on the gi, its also grips on the persons limbs.

  • cool stuff guys, cool stuff!!!

  • Gonna take that to class!!

Thanks for sharing.. I really like the idea of losing grip to gain a better understanding of position

  • lol why have i not tought about that! :S :D

  • thank you for this excellent drill sir

  • Another awesome idea. One of our instructors will sometimes have us start out with 1 guy standing, the other one down and both using no hands, then one hand, then finally both, with the object to pass to side control or a dominant position while the bottom one blocks.

  • Love the idea.

  • i am going to try it with my students while we do unarmed self defense tactics -both

standing and on ground to see how it helps= thanks oldsgtmajusmc

  • Ken this is really a cool idea.

  • at first, I thought, Well couldnt you get similar results with No gi Training to improve other aspects of your game which doesnt involve alot of grip work, BUT then i realised, that this is actually quite different cos you can apply it to no gi as well as gi, Basically doesnt matter since this is whole different concept. Very nice. very nice indeed!!!!! Thanks heaps

  • thanks ken!!! I love your stuff

  • I like it!!!!!

  • Its an interesting idea and I like it. It reminds when I used to box, my coach would have us hold a tennis ball between our chin a chest. The idea is that it got you used to tucking your chin making it less likely to get ko'd. Awesome!!!

  • Awesome! Can't wait to try this!

  • This is great I am also a gracie BJJ student so I think this real really work

  • thanks for this great advice I will definitely use it

  • Reminds me of when you roll with boxing gloves.

  • Very creative! I'll use it.

  • superbodycare was actually me btw, my gal was on the computer and i did not realize she was signed in when i posted to Eric, lol, anyway.

  • Very good and creative idea! Thanks for the tip!

  • on a lighter note i really like your gi less guard passes from standing.

  • well maybe if you are going gi less and you dont hook with your hands or something like that it would help... i think i was a little harsh staying its stupid. i just think simply taking off the gi would be a easier way to be more technical without using grips, if thats what your going for.

  • i dont know if im going to get flamed for this or not but .... i think its stupid. why dont u just go gi less.... there ya go you cant grip.

  • Thanks, I also beieve it takes away grips, proper clasps, pushing in some instances and posting. It takes away a wealth of hand control and we use them no gi sometimes. Try it out.

  • Wow, great idea! I'm going to try it!

I played jiujitsu game of chess yesterday, where you only do 1 movement, grip or removing grips is consider 1 movement, it really gets you thinking and trying new things

  • 5/5

great idea! by limiting yourself, you become better. Rickson Gracie said something like this, to develop high skill, you have to not use your attributes such as speed & strength.

  • Thanks a lot, I agree.

  • ok i will try this

    thx

  • cool concept

  • thank you sir

  • There's so many ways to use them in boxing/Muay Thai as well. I think the tennis ball is a pretty good (and super cheap) tool for combat athletes

  • Thanks for the insight.

  • Sweet idea. I like this a lot.

I think it's a great way to let the lower skilled people interact more with high belts too....it lets them in the game some.

  • I do this for my upper belts at times, good point.

  • excellent idea.. Could be the best IDEA yet ! Reeaaaly slows the game down and stops excessive power. thanks!

  • Thanks brother.

  • interesting. very cool.

  • thank you

  • Interesting idea.

  • I hope you try it.
