Like I said go buy all three OVA's that are out in English dub so far, Kouta Hirano said so himself. It has nothing to do with how it's pronounced or anything. It's just SPELLED Arucard.

Its spelled Arucard because in the Japanese hiragana alphabet (there must be a better word but I can't think of one) there are no L/l's. Instead R/r is used.

E.g. Ra, Ri, Ru, Re, Ro (ら　り　る　れ　ろ).

Therefore Hirano is right to tell Freeman to pronounce it 'Alucard' as this is how it would be pronounced in English. Dracula in Japanese would be pronounced more like Dracura (though not exactly.

Schrodinger is based on a quantum mechanics experiment by physicist Erwin Schrodinger.

"Schrodinger's cat" which supposedly stated that the cat couldnt be dead, but couldnt be alive either.

In hellsing, Schrodinger cant die as long as it can recognize himself, but since alucard absorbed him, he can no longer recognize himself among the other millions of souls Alucard has absorbed. Therefore alucard aint dead, nor alive. Just a set of "imaginary numbers".

I'm torn, frankly. Normally, I hate English dubbing on anime, but in the case of Hellsing, it's somewhat different. There's a truer homage to the setting of the actual story in the accents. With Anderson particularly. I'd wanted to hear his accent ever since I read it in the manga.
