This version, I think-had the most colorful pallet and good music as well. It is evident that a little extra time and effort was put into this port. A shame that the music was almost completely absent from the PC versions
@plasticboy81 That was never an official remake. The creator, Eric Chahi explained this many times. Like how Hideo was never behind "Snake's Revenge" So like Heart of the Alien, it was never "official" I would love to both see a remake and an official sequel.
I really like the music from the SNES version.. just watched a playthrough of the 3DO version and don't even think the music is as good in that one... and the Anniversary edition has nice graphics, but no SNES music. =(
bullshit. this version is way better than the crappy snes version and second, the original version from the amiga is still 100 times better than the snes version.
Still the same game, but with action movie music over the top it just completely kills the atmosphere that the original has.
It's like when Hollywood try to remake a great film but it turns out rubbish because they sacrifice what was good about the original in favour of dumb action movie cliches such as an apparently more 'exciting' soundtrack.
Very impressive and very challenging but no matter how many times I've tried it I just can't get into it. Which is odd considering I usually like these type of games (Prince of Persia, Oddworld) Oh well, thanks for the upload.
aww man i had this on 3do and Immercenary the first need for speed and killing time with a few others. i wish i still had them, where did you get the roms and emulator?
Yeah, I like the original music much better. The original end theme by Jean-François Freitas was great and so memorable, it's one of my favourite video game songs.
I'm just curious: how do you manage to upload videos of over ten minutes and have the lights option visible? Cos I plan on making my first longplay now that I have six MiniDV tapes -- two from Victor/JVC, two from Sony, and two from Hitachi Maxell (BLOWN-AWAY GUY!).
@AndrewDickman The ending here isn't what I remember from the other versions which end at the flying away scene. I believe the video at the ending is a teaser for the sequel Heart of the Alien which I believe wasn't really planned on being made by Chahi. I can't remember where I read the details, they're not on wp. Anyway afaik there's were different cooks in the kitchen with this port and the sequel. Audio oft. makes the atmosphere and this version plays like modern music, there's lil dynamics.
@TheLegendOfRenegade No, it was published by the same company but made by different developers. Even though Flashback was obviously inspired by Another World
Everyone sees happy memories when they see this game...I only see nightmares.
I hate this game. I always died because it wasn't clear what to do. It was like playing a game of trial and error.
Blargh.

This version is AWFUL!! I'm so glad I played the SNES version, that one is the ultimate!
mintydog06 2 years ago
The ultimate one is the PC Anniversary Edition with updated Hires graphics by Eric Chahi himself. We have a longplay of that one too :)

But this version with the soundtrack is rubbish.

how did you get your emulator to work? I don't understand how to make my downloaded freeDO rar file to work? can anyone help me out a bit.
Nice video; never played this game. Always played gex.

I never realised they made a 3DO version! My bro had a 3DO imported to the UK in the 90s and I loved it. I never realised there was an emu either.
I love the simple, cold mysterious atmosphere to this game.
