  • wow, i go to this school, where was i on march 4th

  • @peachrocker1 haha i was there but still nothing good happened and hikes still went up!!

  • Wow, our country is in REAL danger. This is our youth. This is in the US. This isn't Cuba. Scary. Don't want to pay for something, just call it a right. The lack of reason is unbelievable. The sad part is that the professors organize these kids to further their left wing garbage. Revolution? You people are looking for a service and you don't want to pay for it. Your hopes and dreams have been fully realized in Cuba. Maybe we can do a one time tax to ship you all over there.

  • Grow up kid. The city and NYS is broke. If you want a service, you have to pay for it. I'm sure you're going to college for that very reason. Do you expect payment for your services when you graduate? No more money left to keep salaries artificially low. Look to your professors. Ask them WHY tuition needs to be so high. Ask them if they are willing to teach for free. Then you can go to school for free. Otherwise, it's coming out of all New Yorkers pockets. Again, grow up.

  • rise people rise!!!!!! all people of america here we go!!!!!! lets stand together!!!!!!

  • at 7:40, " THIS IS SPARTA!!!!"

  • well, who do they want to pay? ME? the tax payer? socialists

  • @msegreto2 don't be dense. How did your daddy get an education? Rutgers? That's a public university run from tax payer dollars. Where did you get your education? If there were no public universities you and your dad would have ended up with high school degrees only.

  • USAPatriot1966 are you comparing education to gasoline for your car? Education is a RIGHT because a in today's job market a collage degree has become a requirement (it is NECESSARY) to obtain a job that pays well enough to maintain a decent standard of living. If not obtaining an advanced degree results in a person being pushed to the economic and social margins than education is a most fundamental human right.

  • so you are saying we should make it a right to higher education. Maybe the govt should take over colleges...like they did with k-12 we will soon be the laughing stock of the world...love karl marx

  • Tonytone73 Is that really you counter-argument for what he is saying? The TARP money has been paid with interest? What about the 700 billion of the "Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008"? How much of that has been paid back by the banks? What he was talking about was the FACT that companies are back to making RECORD profits while working people are still struggling as they were at the beginning of this recession.

  • So they hate the fact that Hunter has to raise tuition, but then they break metal detectors?? What's wrong with metal detectors? I dont want anybody even thinking of coming into my school with a gun.

  • so that guy screaming about getting organized and how the banks make a profit obviously has no clue what he's talking about. at around 11:30 in the video, he says how the banks made risky gambles, lost, got "your" money, and now because no one has money, they make money. he makes no sense, and fails to mention the fact that most of the TARP money had been paid back to the government WITH interest. oh! and he fails to back up ANY of his points. this is some stupid BS at Hunter. Baruch FTW!!

  • Lmao... all this coming from people who couldnt get into Baruch. People seem to have gotten confused about the right to an education. People have a right to get an education, not given one. Everyone has a right to get educated, but no one has an obligation to educate everyone. We as CUNY students need to realize that we're getting some of the best education at the best price. And we still want more? Ask, NYU how they feel about us being subsidized by their parent's taxes.

  • We are in the middle of a bad recession which contrary to what the major news outlets say, I don't think we'll be getting out of anytime soon. Everyone is getting hit hard which includes the state of NY and CUNY. Just because you guys yell and use a lot of swear words doesn't mean millions of dollars of aid will pop out of nowhere. These things are an unfortunate reality. Hunter is still a bargain based on its location and quality of education and price. Few realize this.

  • these hippie idiots are in a delusion of grandeur

  • Down with this sort of thing!

  • @tomek200...what would you like to see happen then my friend....what is your agenda?

    love and light.

  • Higher education is not a right! It is a privledge-If it was a right everyone would be entitled to it no matter what their academics are.

No tuition Open admission? Kinda makes me think I want YOU to pay for the gas in MY car.

  • They fail to realize the hardships they foist upon taxpayers. What about NYC residents that are working hard and barely getting by and trying to support their families. Should they be forced to subsidize college students through additional taxes?

To understand why college costs have skyrocketed they have to look no further than the govt. Costs can only go up when people continue to demand what is offered. Govt loans provide the fuel that keeps education costs skyrocketing.

  • i see all the negative comments to you limitedgovt999...but what do you expect from the sheeple who have been educated in our GOVT schools. my father was able to have a summer job and put himself through rutgers in the 1960s now b/c of govt it takes a mortgage to put yourself through college...do you love it.... love karl marx

  • The truly sad part is that with all the technology available, education costs should be going down.

Poor students, they demand their govt to do more for them but hasn't it already done enough harm?

I hope that Americans will wake up before things get too bad, but my opinion is that it will take serious pain & suffering before people realize what has happened to this country. Until then, the mainstream media will continue to keep them misinformed.

  • @limitedgovt999

Last time I looked, students also pay taxes when they have to buy expensive-as-hell books for classes--what the hell---tuition has gotten so high here in Michigan that most students are going to community colleges because they can barely afford tuition for a regular college. Hell, yeah, we have EVERY damn right to demand that things change from our government because WE elected them and we are paying THEM through our taxes to work for US,that's why. Why should they shut up?

  • @msegreto2

It's not just the govt. ---the cost in living in general has gone up----and the state, not the government, runs the schools---do your homework, please.

  • @limitedgovt999

FYI, it is the COLLEGES themselves that decide how high their costs are going to go up, it has nothing to do with the government or state---they have NO oversight or limits on the amount of tuition they can raise----the point is, how the hell are you going to get a decent education at any college if it's priced way beyond your means or any amount or loans you can get? Hell. if a student is paying up to thousands of dollars for school, you damn right they can bitch about it.

  • @statelybird3 private collages do this but public institutions have to get legislative approval (from the state) to hike tuition. However, in New York State there is an attempt to remove these restrictions and allow for state universities such as CUNY or SUNY to increase tuition every semester. This policy results in educational racism and classism, since the majority of undergraduates in the CUNY system are 1) people of color, 2) working class and they will gradually be pushed out due to cost

  • uh...for 4k a year in cuny, id say thats pretty darn cheap compared to other schools. I mean seriously, students who struggle to pay will most likely be covered by financial aid. i dont see whats the big fuss is about. i think most of the people who complain are the upper middle class students who feel too cheap to pay.

  • Great job Hunter College! Solidarity.

  • Finally, the time has come, time to go REVOLUTIONARY WARRIORS.

  • Pull up the people! Pull up the poor! Pull up the students!

  • our time has come.....shut citys down across the world...stop the banks...stop the city...stop the new world order!!!

    love and light.
