Played the 14day trial of Darkfall. I think it is the spiritual grown up child of the Darktide server for Asheron's Call. Though AC had targeting and auto-attacking, magic could be dodged, and on Darktide from level 1 you were open game for being slaughtered. If I had the time/money/desire to get backt into a pvp-based mmo, Darkfall would be it.
people just play it with low settings cause their computer is not that good .... mine too ..... and shadows - maybe soon they will implement the fact noone cant turn it off any more ....would be great !
Well I would disagree with anyone who says Darkfall has shitty graphics. Doom 1, bad graphics. EQ1, bad graphics. Darkfall, bad character animations, good(not amazing) texturing, decent HDR lighting, dense foilage, decent atmospheric effects, dynamic shadows, and the engine seems t0 be somewhat optimized. DarkFall isn't Crysis or UE3, but it looks good enough. Now the gameplay, I am still not convinced I should play it...at least not yet. I am going to awhile a bit longer.
The one huge question i have..is most games, based on level you pvp. IN this, you have no set level so you never know if someone can wreck your face or not? Or is there a way, because quite frankly..im gonna have a few free months and i wouldnt mind trying it...but i dont wanna be completely behind.

The game was surely a few years before acceptable release state. So they failed, and the game failed. I play Darkfall yet still today, but as the game is now its only for Hardcore gamers those that don't QQ everytime they die and loose their stuff, but man up and start over.

Darkfall is shit. What is the fun of hitting someone 15x times to kill? Realistically a few hits - 4 to 5 should be enough and from stealth - 1 or 2 hits.
The lack of critical damages and little damage from weapons and falling overall in DF makes it look like a shitty arcade game.
Realistically people can't go invisble and get magic powers which make their hits stronger. Hitting in the back does do more damage in Darkfall but you need to use your brain and surroundings to sneak instead of a go invisible key. Also when you skill up it doesn't take 15 hits unless they are well geared. I've been taken out in 3 swings with high leveled melee(In the back). High level magic and archery also will take you out very quick. They have crits in Darkfall they are called surging hits.
you can 4 to 5 shot people in this game, you can also 1 or 2 shot them if you have very high skills....
You want to play games that are realistic? LOL
The game does have ciritcal damages, and the only reason he's doing little damage is because his character sucks, his character is probably 12 hours old, if that...
That blue bubble is called a mana missle. The lowest level spell which costs 0 reagents which makes it ideal for low level PVE considering you're not losing more reagents than you're looting. This allows you to use your more powerful spells in PVP or on PVE which you'll be getting more reagents then you're losing or close to. It's called strategy. People like you don't last a day in Darkfall.
Darkfall is the best MMO i've ever played and i played many p2p and f2p... and with DF2 comming, bye bye life :)

To be honest I didnt even do pking... as far as i kno, because i ran into it by accident, theres one hue jass PVP area...
No i dont mean theres only one in the game... but i donno man... the one i saw took me like 5 minutes or more to run around... with a mount...
so my guess, theres huge pvp areas, i also remember parts on the map called bad lands or something... possibly pvp?
all i kno for sure is theres AT LEAST one hue jass pvp area.. and there are deffinatly more...

Yes because having low offensive skill levels means you are weak. After a few months your character should be able to kill a goblin in 2 hits.

Damage should be realistic - two arrows to unarmed person and you're dead.
