  • Truly and realistically speaking Indian people and media must have to understand and admit that they have got bunch of average players having limited talent they cant ask more then that from them .secondly its not surprising that there batsman in-spite of having thousands of runs under there belts failed still suffering from white washes the talent is that they can never be like pakistan .who is blessed with match winners in every era and out standing talented players .reality is harsh !

  • i think the main problem is that there media fantasizes a lot .actually if we look up to the reality it tells us that they are overrated players having limited talent and approach they were getting good results in the last 2 years after a long struggle of about 10 years but it never means that they are excellent players yes they have played some good cricket on there dead wickets but as far as foreign wickets there batsman always behaved like a patient of polio .this is the reality !

  • Nice comments

  • IPL is the problem.. money is the priority for several of these cricketers.

  • Indians are not playing bouncy pitches well ... My suggestion is to groom the younger generation.. the ones who play the Ranji Trophy .... Let the semifinals and finals be played abroad say Australia and England .... India has never won a test series in Australia .. with a population of 1.2 billion, is this the best test cricketing team you got? Selectors, are you kidding?? its time to think about new strategies.... we cannot afford to keep loosing all the test matches!!

  • there are certain diff in this loss when compared with the Eng and previous border gavaskar series:

first, prime difference, the aus team was weak and until this series they have never seen a purple patch this long past 2 yrs.

2nd, the indian team is the no.2 test team when it came into this series. My grandmom could tell who was going to this series before it started.

3rd, the indian team is supposed to have learnt and pumped up to prove themselves on a foreign soil after the england debacle.

  • India has been thrashed, crushed, banged & humiliated in Australia and then thrown in the dustbin like a used tissue paper. First india was whitewashed in England 4-0 then beaten in t20 format and then beaten in odis as well in England and now indian cows are getting banged by OZ kangaroos publicly. It just gives more evidence to the fact that world cup 2011 was fixed and IPL matches are fixed. Indians should only play inside india otherwise they will keep on getting thrashed.

  • And all the above, BCCI have been concentrating more on 20-20 cricket... by which it do not give ample importance for the best form of Cricket.... Overseas Cricket boards and their players did a good job by not playing much of IPL.... and defenitely, it helped them a LOT... !!!

  • where are the players which India team send to these tournaments in Australia who play domestic matches....We need to free up our international schedule and send likes of Virat, Rohit, Pujara, Manoj to play in those tournament and then bring them to real test matches...We have long been using the test matches as practise games for new generation to groom...Which is fundamentally ridiculous...

  • still too macro is it not Harsha? The issue of India's domestic cricket structure and quality and wickets and what administrators / selectors should do has been consistently discussed over last few decades if not more..Yes this was the best possible team but when that has not delivered you need to look at next best options like Rohit, Pujara et al. They may not be better than the current greats but can become better over time and need to be tried before they quit the game in frustration..

  • well said sir

  • The best part is - even after correcting all those excuses (IPL/Aging/form/whatever...) will we be real confident to win test series in Aus..? Honestly I don't think so! Only link missing for me is motivation. Its somehow missing? If we correct that - we can win test series anywhere friends!

  • We have created the largest market for cricket, players get paid highest in our country. Thanks to that no Indian (except for Murali Kartik) plays domestic cricket abroad. More cricketers should play foreign domestic cricket to understand the local conditions- something that BCCI won't allow as it will dilute the brand value of IPL. What IPL is doing is thus hindering Indians from playing abroad. BCCI should incentivise players willing to play in foreign leagues instead of stopping them.

  • Woh subah kabhi toh aayegi !

  • Cricket in India is a pure BUSINESS. It is not remained SPORT anymore. Stop promoting cricket and honestly stop watching it. It makes me laugh when I see Harsha and other talking on cricket. These people are forced to do such talks because they get PAID. Simple -:)

  • Rohit Sharma is the Next Sachin Tendulkar.! The only Replacement for a Mumbaikar by a classy Mumbaikar.!

  • Either prepare pitches and conditions in India conducive to swing and bounce or allow players to play overseas during the domestic season. County cricket, Big Bash League, whatever domestic Indian cricket is utter bullshit.

  • 5 batsmen were good test batsmen before IPL, we did not produce one after IPL, These 5 batsmen are not doing a great job these days either. Zaheer does not play much of IPL, he is bowling well! Umesh Yadav has not played much in IPL - Yes and he is our best bowler of the tour! You started the sentence Harsha, I just finished it!!!

  • Where are the shine removers? Jaffer?

  • Harsha, don't just state the obvious. Give us some solutions.

  • Yesterday I was having a little conversation with my Swedish friend and it ended up with an awkward moment,.,.,

Swede: Why doesn't India have any famous football player? There are a biliion of you guys.

Me: Thats bcos we all play cricket.

Swede: Oh then India must be having the best cricket team.

    Me:,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,., :)

  • @siddharthmondal

You could have said that we are not performing well these days but in April we won the World Cup.

It all matters how you look at things.

  • Harsha Bhai, I met u couple of times in England and WI on both occasions I was with Laxman. Anyway, In my view we did not do our homework like we did last time when we drew 2 tests... Sometimes very SMALL things Brings you BIG results. The Difference between last time and this time is AKASH CHOPRA who took out the NEW BALL(shine) Which led the middle order to shine. This time we are opening up the middle order too soon. Someone has to take off the shine (New ball) and will see the results.

  • @leftarmspinner While I agree that Akash Chopra is the difference, I think we will neeed 2 Chopras now, since both Viru and Guati are failing miserably. Perhaps we should let Viru go in the final test and have Gauti captain and open the innings with Rahane. We can trust Gauti to last longer than Viru, even if they both make same number of runs. Also sit Laxman out for Rohit. We will still lose this test, but atleast have tried new boys out.

  • The real problem is giving cricket too much importance. There are other sports that deserve equal attention. The Indian cricket team, because of so much money, hype and attention, over-value themselves so much. They forget that they are athletes first, and cricketers next. Preparation is everything

  • Trust it to the BCCI to not improve even by an iota. Well said Harsha.

  • @chriswall243 Relied on one man? Tendulkar? What have the rest done, nothing? give me a break! Dont be another tendulkar-maniac! Its HIGH TIME he called quits! Losing so disgustingly with new younger players is ANY DAY better than losing with such a "strong-batting-line-up" especially with tendulkar spearheading the so called "strong-batting-line-up"! Indian cricket needs a freaking revolution!

  • has he left espn star now ?

  • this is the face of the more sensible people in indian media...

  • Well said Harsha...but what happens when tendulkar leaves...Lets face Indian cricket has relied on one man

  • And all we will get is knee-jerks. Don't be surprised if some youngsters flee Punjab.

  • Right Now I just feel a great sense of rage and I am sure a lot of people who support Indian cricket feel the same. The losses this time have hurt much deeply an indian cricket fan than they have been the past.I have been an unconditional supporter of Indian cricket, finding reasons and excuses every time when we have performed badly. This time I feel a sense of hopelessness.Look at what happened in the Ranji trophy sf at Bansilal stadium, and thats not even Perth.

  • Really a heartfelt response and video from Harsha. Must say we all are feeling hurt by India's defeat. Dont you think we should send our young brigade the likes of: Rahane, Pujara, Kohli, Rohit, Raina, Tiwary to go and play a season of Eng domestic cricket instead of IPL. It wont do any harm for sure.

  • You have Srinavasan saying that when we play in India we will win so don't worry.

You have the BCCI scheduling massive amounts of home series in the near future (look at FTP).

The BCCI will not change anything. We will continue to play at home in front of empty stadium on dead pitches and the BCCI will continue to make money from T20.

They are killing Indian Test Cricket on purpose.

  • Why dont we prepare green pitches in india? Like really faster and green pitches.

  • yonger players shd travel to AUS,ENG,SA often shd ply in county cricket...... players who have done well in county should be cosidered for India team selection.

Traveling AUS every 4 years may also imapct players may BCCI try to get in one of the tri series after 2 years just as SRILANKA is coming to play tri series... and give young players chance to Play in AUS before they go for Test series next time....

  • Look at the fitness of the Aussie players, excercise, gym, sports are part of their life. On the other hand look at Indian players fitness. Look at the tummies they cant even bend and touch the ground. Not even a single bowler can bowl long spells, batsmen will get all sorts of cramps if they run hard for their runs, fielders will dive after the ball passes by 1 minute. BCCI should pass the rule that cricketers should spend 2 hrs of time in Gym or physical sport, after all its their job.

  • @mrjack123789 oh plz.....u seem to have forgotten the fact that the WC was played in india and we thrashed england 5-0 at home.....we all agree that we deserved to be beaten at england and australia but saying the wc was fixed and we dint deserve it is bull crap! get a life.....we won it fair and square bcoz we were the best team in the wc

  • @reath82 England whitewashed india first 4-0 in test matches then they beat india in t20 format and then they beat india in odis as well basically beating india in all three formats of the game in England. When England was in india, England lost in one format in odis but won in the other format t20 so England did win in one format in india. England have won Test Series in Australia, on the other hand india has never won a test series in Australia & South Africa and india never will.

  • Stop making those SLOW pitches in India. Make pitches with grass on it. Only then we would prepare our batsmen and especially bowlers to do well on overseas fast pitches like Australia, England, South Africa and New Zealand.

Indian players are not out of form it's just the Slow pitches they can perform well on.

  • @achzodiac1 SLOW pitches are USP of India and because of that we are wining in India if that is gone we may struggle in India is well so thats not the solution.... solution may be yonger players shd travel to AUS,ENG,SA often shd ply in county cricket...... players who have done well in county should be cosidered for India team selection.

  • Dhoni is not the captain for the last test... Sehwag is. Lets see if he can atleast draw the last test.

  • Harsha,

Love the Video....and It's a great question to ponder. Sitting here in the U.S. and watching these games were frustrating. Personally My view is that Ian Chappel said it is that we were short sighted in our selection and haven't spent time grooming our young players over the last 3 years. And in regards to touring Australia, Our preparation is not adequate. When I hear Mr Shukla talking about his plans to make the IPL bigger and better, it shows where the priorities lie.

  • Harsha Bogle is the BEST cricket commentator in the world. Can Australia adopt him? Indian cricketers have inflated averages because (so we are told) their pitches are low and dusty and condusive to massive scores. Whilst Australia, pitches do have more bounce, they are all different. Because of this, our young players learning the game are brought up and learn the craft of batting on DIFFERENT pitches. India should sacrifice their batting averages for more diverse pitches.

  • "IT'S TIME NOW FOR A GENERATION WHO CAN LEARN TO PLAY OVERSEAS"- amen

  • What a tribute to the last 20 years in Australia - "Vo subah kabhi to aayegi.." ;)

  • Man...he is pissed off real bad! Just like me!

  • Current Player Selection criteria -> Avg in last 10 matches !! WRONG

some batsmen play better on fast pitches, but not on Indian pitches, they get eliminated as most matches are played here in India, leading to their decreased avg. We need to preserve them for such tours !!

When you are selecting a team for overseas, ...see

Avg in last 5 matches ABROAD ! [simple IQ and DI]

    Even better,..

Avg in Last 5 matches in AUS (for Australian tour),..so on for END, SA

  • No team from the subcontinent has done too well in Australia. The problem is with the pitches back home. Pitches in domestic cricket are flat which promote the development of bad techniques in players.

  • Harsha you are rightfully pissed. However, not too many teams have won Test Series in Australia. In recent times you have an Eng and South Africa who have done it but it took a lot preparation from England and a sorry state of Australia to do so. South Africa on the other hand can compete with Australia on even terms due to similarities in batting conditions. Yet even they haven't won too many test series. #1 or not, no one expected India to win a series but no one expected a thrashing either.

  • Harsha is pissed off just like all of us!

  • i think its about the pitches that we have in our domestic structure,

its not that we have to make bouncy wickets,

but the thng is most of the ranji matches are drawn,

it means there is not enough for spinners too. we hardly have surfaces which supports bowlers. and even batsmen skills are not tested...

  • but i still say ipl has ruined indina batsmen

  • Harsha is the best.!!!his perspectives and insights on cricket are way better than some of those cricket experts who have played professional cricket.!!!

  • I havent even started watching this..lemme go ahead and guess...Its not about the ability....It was lost in the mind.

    Now lets see...:))

  • BCCI should also allow players to be released during the domestic season for exposure in other nations' comps. The Big Bash League right now could've allowed players in the ODI squad to gain crucial experience in Australia.

  • Feel your pain...We need to get these cricketers out of their comfort zone. They think they earn all their monies in IPL .. Y bother as much with tests.. M sure that is there somewhere at the back of their minds.Make 80% of the earnings performance based. Let them perform to earn. They are not different than anyone else earning a living with hard work.Screw IPL and get our players to play in county cricket or Australia.Change the Ranji structure!

  • And the ICC needs to grow some balls and stop giving the BCCI all the power in the world. Take charge and make DRS standard for one stuff India. If they're going to play like this anywhere outside the subcontinent they deserve as much respect as Bangladesh.

  • You know what it is? It is the damn feather beds in India that players are so accustomed to. Create similar Western conditions there with ample grass on the pitches so that you don't see players like Rahane and R Sharma averaging well over 60 after more than 50 first class matches. Get a proper spin coach who can encourage players like Ashwin to attack when bowling. But cosmetic changes have to be made first, so Laxman should retire this series. Dravid the next and Tendulkar the one after that.

  • he is literally crying

  • This is the saddest Harsha I have ever seen
