@gbebout Homosexuality is NOT a sex act just like I assume you already realize and recognize that heterosexuality is NOT. Don't be a closet homophobe pretending to ask "pertinent", logical questions. Come out and at least admit that you are anti-gay regardless of the truth. You're just another hetero-supremacist like any other common hate monger. Own it!
social equality will never be reached to its full potiential as long as their are biassed parents still, that continue the teaching of hate on purpose or through their actions. It needs to stop now role model it up
I really believe the treatment of gay people will go down in history as the worst social tragedy of my generation (gen x). First woman sturggled for their rights, then came the Black folks and now the LGBT community is battling for its equal treatment. Each time another group attempts to gain first class citizenship, the conservatives (little "c", status-quo) use the same trite arguments that our country's at risk. Yet through all these changes, we're still here.
He shouldn't have won an Oscar for Milk. The quality of the writing is poor. The overall structure is muddled and there is very little character development (despite this being a "character piece").
He won for political reasons. Even Philadelphia, while not perfect, is a much better film promoting tolerance of gays and lesbians. It is more focused.
@Silverwire100 total agreement. Brokeback Mountain as well, obviously, although that wasn't a direct political story. Yes, this movie beat In Bruges and Frozen River for best screenplay which is kind of unforgivable. Penn was good, but did not hold a candle to Mickey Rourke. The Wrestler will last forever whereas this movie will be superfluous in a couple of years.
@Silverwire100 excuse me? what do you mean there was no character development? Harvey Milk developed and grew as a person and a politician throughout this time, his achievements prove that. And, yes, while I agree that award shows can sometimes be political, effectively writing a script and transferring historical information to a film format is why he won the oscar.
Saw the Perez video. Is that what you're fighting for?

26% of LGBT youth are kicked out of their homes after coming out? Is that for real? That's one in four gay kids...
