This is not from 1982, there was no American tour that year. This was recorded at the Cow Palace in San Francisco Nov. 1986 and was part of a pay per view TV special. It is a great show and one of Neil's all-time best.
GOOGLE > THIS IS ME SAYING I'M SORRY says John Joseph O'Brien :-) NOT ONLY AM I AN SDI STARWARS WEAPONS EXPERT GOOGLE> EXPLOSIVES says JOhn JOseph O'Brien :-) ^ GOOGLE > says John Joseph O'Brien :-) ^ eheheheh GOOGLE> I'M ALIEN WEAPONS al gore says John Joseph O'Brien :-) HAVE SOME FIREWORKS al gore says John JOseph O'Brien :-) STICK EM UP AL GORE ya SATANIC MASS MURDER BOY :-) GOOGLE> youtube I'm the Doctor ^ eheheheh I GOT A 69 ON IT says John Joseph O'Brien :-)
Ashmore 86 - wow - now I understand why I thought the verse about archers splitting trees referred to a medieval time, the verse about being in a basement occurred in the present, and the verse about taking off in a spaceship was about the future. Yet none of the lyrics seemed incongruent, do they? They all fit, and what a lovely song it is...
@AndyAutomaticss... its the title track of a film that was never made as the concept was too far out for the film studio money men...young went ahead and made the soundtrack regardless.
This song was playing when a friend came to my door with the news that another friend had hung himself. Its always going to remind me of that tragic moment in time, regardless of its true meaning.Damnit I love this song-all in a dream, all in a dream, the loading had begun,we were flying mothers natures silver seed to a new home in the sun.
@bunomatic Strong of you to rid the song of its memory sir/madam. One of the reasons I hate so much beautiful music at times! Such a shame a lot of it is linked to the most tragic of times.
I dont think the song is about any literal gold rush. Does anyone else catch all the allusions to the end of the world? Burned out basement. A (spiritual?) replacement before the sun bursts thru the sky? Mother nature on the run?
I'm not saying the world is ending but I think the song is about what happens when the society we live in, so centalized on profit and material things, can no longer support itself
Trans was released in 1982. Where are the vocoders ???
