a billion dollars.....just think of how much that really is...at least right now anyway. In maybe six months it'll buy a pack of chewing gum. Who knows, maybe the US dollar will eventually have parity with Zimbabwe dollar?
But even more scary, is the fact that they have no intention of understanding it, either. So they are gonna walk into a recession, TOTALLY unarmed, and will be facing criminals in the street, as policing becomes too expensive to maintain, at current levels.
And NO ONE seems to even be expecting it. Even the TV tells them its gonna happen, but they are totally IMMUNE to all INFORMATION. They are unable to compute information about the world around them.
Even though the govt are admitting it all out loud now (the colapse), no one seems to believe it. They treat it like the news about the dying palestinians, and coronation street, and russia, and the moon, and ANYTHING that requires a little intelligent thoght or reasoning, to understand.
ITS NOTHING TO DO WITH ME - I cant do anyhting about it.
That sort of thing. It is really QUITE scary, because people seem to have N knowledge of the world WHATSOEVER !!
Another good one. Since I mentioned about the brief use of the word 'slump' by the BBC I have not heard it used once in the last 5 days. Can anything be read into that? Meanwhile advertising by one of the supermarkets is majoring on making the best of leftovers! Meanwhile there appears to be a remarkable degree of political complacency among Britons I speak to. The BBC continues to show make-money-out-of-property/antiques/tat progs clearly shot in another era. Hope you have a good flight.
Hi Mike! Love your channel! I like ALL my currency crises sprinkled with a generous dose of humour! Watched Cosmos when I was a kid - it was Johnny Carson who coined the term "billions and billions" in his spoofs of Carl, and it stuck, much to Carl's dismay. (He said it was redundant.) Just subscribed - your my first stop for news and entertainment now. I've been waiting 20 years for this (r)evolution. We're almost there. Keep up the great work! If you get stuck in Canada when TSHTF, look me up!
I protested @ the recent Republican Natl Convention. I would've protested at the DNC as well but the RNC was closer & I knew someone in Minneapolis.
You're right about authories looking for an excuse. It goes farther than that, though. They're collecting data on people. When a march I was in confronted a line of riot police, the only ones w/ their visors up were the 2 filming the crowd. The march ended w/ tear gas & arrests.
Also, peace groups are being infiltrated/watched by the govt.
Thanks for making me feel better about the mistake. And sorry about the 'Sir' blunder. I should never assume --- Mmmm, what else can I screw up??? At least you (and possibly Mike) are getting a kick out of it. :)
I'm now sat at Hong kong airport - CNN is on at all the bars. for the last 35 mins - Obama inauguration is ALL that is on. I'm sure there should have been a headlines section... maybe this IS the headlines section? There is nothing else happening?
Gawd - I forgot JUST how useless CNN is! They are currently listing off the pop stars that will be performing at the balls. This is NEWS?
Need to move away from the TV and plug in some headphones for real YT stuff; before I through something heavy!
My apologies...I meant to give you a 'thumbs up' and hit the wrong button. Damn! It appears there is no ability to edit. Anyhow, you are correct sir (re: the life preservers). Thanks for the great comment.
Thanks...And I was concerned my comments were inappropriate. Mr. Fever is good at making one think. Who would of thunk it, eh? A Canadian Brit in Hong Kong provoking such great discussions. LOL! :)
if i were in these countries where police were asaulting citizens i think knowing the policmens names and where their families live would be useful information...but...hey i just think in obtuse ways i guess
the united states had a gold and silver backed currency and could not print their way into oblivian like Helocopter Ben plans to. once the banks were out of money they couldnt just get some more printed up and trucked out....remember you could walk into a bank and demand gold or silver in return for you cash...we can do that now
i met sagan in the mid eighties...at vanderbilt when he was giving a lecture regarding disarmament...He was a brilliant scientist but would have been best suited to stay out of politics....he did a long winded speech on "starwars" and Reagan ...anyhow...interesting video!
...Meanwhile, the people working hardest to fix real problems must give up their resources to the lazy bums eating free food in the cafeteria. Anyone seen a life preserver?
You ever feel like you are on the Titanic, the water is up to your neck, but the Captain is talking over the speaker system (mainstream media) trying to tell people things are not so bad---that their plan to 'bailout' more parts of the ship will work. Of course there is also the incoming Captain, Obama, that will add more workers to paint and clean the ship. ...continued...
As Iceland was one of the first to experience the full brunt of the crisis in Europe; it was to be expected. I was more surprised they were protesting in such cold weather! LOL
Didn't Russia come to the financial rescue of Iceland? If I understand this correctly, Russia now owns Iceland and it"s resources due to Russia acting as their "central bank". The interest alone will in time make this situation much worse. Just as the unconstitutional Federal Reserve owns us. Is China really preparing to dump their holdings in what is left of our dollar? If so, wouldn't there be a total financial collapse in America due to the enormity of the indebtedness we have with them?
Great video. Off topic question: still "hot" for flying on an A380 after the forced landing? I thought of you when seeing this disaster. Give me good laughters.
Yeah, the amount of flying I do I know this basic fact - If i'm gonna go in a plane crash, i'd prefer to be in business class - more room to panic! LOL I never worry about flying anymore; the pilots are trained really well; in cases where they can land they usually do. If something 'extreme' happened, there really isn't too much I can do about it. Release of control is tough at first.
It's OK, i get it. the problem is when I do my reports I like to have 'factual' reports behind them so i will be trusted. Not always easy in the baltics; especially as i don't do russian! :-)
No worries man; darn good english for 14! Don't worry - I have a viewer or two in other Baltics; I'll no doubt hear from them soon. Thanks for watching and tha comments too! (And hey, things can work out in weird ways :)
But anyway, your videos are great. Important not to panic, but what makes me sad, is that large newspapers from America are making statements, without understanding, that it makes panic. Todays bloomberg article about Baltic states, it was like, freedom is dead, long live communism and anarchy in baltic states.
I hear you; the same things are reported in UK; it is tough to get real 'local' stories nowadays! I wish there were 'real' people reporting the truth from these places. then there would be no questions; like is this just pro-Russian agitators?
no, it's not Russians protest, thou thre are many Russians, but it's logical as half of Riga's population are russian-speaking. Some agressors were Russians, but this demonstration in Latvia was really wide by the groups involved, traedunions, pro-nazis, russians, unemployed people, even policemens themselves.
That is worrying; who is bringing all these different factions together? As i understand things, they wouldn't normally be in the same room; never mind agree to demonstrate together! Is this a case of opposing forces shouting at each other? or are they being combined as an attack at the govt?
I'd really appreciate a PM on the subject. People outside the Baltics are starving to understand!
at this point, they were on the same side. People are against government, no metter what. Government is extreamly corrupted, nothing can be done without paying them. Support rating of government is like under 5% and if new elections would come(as demonstrants want), then none of coalition parties would get to parliament (5% of votes). The governemnt has loosed all they're credibilty among civilians. employment is the biggest problem.
Thanks for the update Mike, I hope you will take a couple of days to rest upon return to the UK. We don't want you to burn out. Have a good flight home.Cheers!
I'm watching job layoffs coming across the ticket..by the thousands...Circut City will dump 30,000 employees alone. All the money in the world will not stop this Depression. The Banks are about to have another round of collapses. The big 3 are going under..they will not survive...more retailers are now on the list to fail..including Sears/K-mart, Best Buy, Clairs and others. The next 90 days will accelerate the downturn beyond belief.
it was reported that the week of jan 3 to jan 10 there were over 900,000, yes 900,000 new unemployment claims in the US....one week not adjusted for seasonal unemployment...what will the rest of the month look like? and better yet will they release the numbers?
Yes, the comment in the video is the 'seasonally adjusted' number, as that is what will be bantered about; the description lists a higher number. 2 Million will be my guess. The first week after christmas break there is usually a spike; people don't want to put a damper on the festive spirit by applying for benefits!
Demonstrnts are ofcourse needed, people must show, that State must be from the people to the people. but violance as we all know, never solves anything.
Lithuania rioted today as well. In reality, those Latvian and Lithuanian riots are very small and this violance is just by a small group, most of demonstrants are peaceful. But I'm afraid, that it will spread outside Latvia and Lithuania.
The majority of people do not demonstrate; there is a quiet majority behind them. When things get a little worse and there are 'leaders' to bring them out, this majority may be in trouble if the gov't cracks down on peaceful expression of discontent

It was good, that the riots were so peaceful as they were, it was expected alot more.
Historically, the protesting starts with a number of smaller protests, etc. Then 'someone' appears to lead them. If this happens, the crowds get MUCH bigger. See the trade union protests in the 30's!

If thye ever need to, they will pick up all the peopel who have spoken against them, and put them all against a wall. IF they need to.
