Say all you want. Cabernet sauvignon rules! Jajajajaj. (Joke). Really. ¿Why change your wine preferenes only for a movie? Drink what you like, an the rest; is only yada yada..
Rudy, I haven't seen the movie, but it seems that you are trying to show people that drinking merlot is fine via a logical argument.
You can't reason someone out of a position they didnt reason themselves into.
People liked the movie and the characters, and they didnt care to drink merlot. The aversion to merlot was an emotional connection, not a logical one. Most importantly, the beautiful women in the movie were happy w/o merlot.
Take a lesson from marketing: forget logic, just put some beautiful women on screen showing sensually narrating why and how they love merlot. 5 minutes of that is worth more than 60 minutes of (sorry to say) average looking people saying they love their merlot...
I know the movie dealt a blow to Merlot market, but in reality it was'nt that Miles hated Merlot as much as he hated that he and his wife who shared a love for wine had fallen apart and Merlot was the wine that they both very much adored.

Good Call. I think that in the book Merlot reminds him of his wife and that's why he doesn't like it. Thanks for posting a comment.
