it took them 50 points to get john starks off of jordan??? hahaha every point seemed to be on poor john starks... this a game after he almost gets in a fight with mj... shouldn't have woke the giant...
Short 3pt. Line no wonder he made six.Starks is a joke he quit, has grant hill and all the foward not gauss ever let Kobe just shoot because their embarassed? Mj find another spot to shoot besides the free throw line and top of key. Ref he played defense foul shit. League refs kissed his ass never will or give Kobe that space or calls... 81
@pmpthroback get the hell out of here with your kobe shit...with the weak ass defense the league has now of course the bumm kobe scored 81 and against the team with the worst record the raptors?? he went to the free throw line 20 fuckin times!!!! and he doesnt get calls what a joke...jordan in his prime and todays rules would drop 81 easy more than once against any team
What made Jordan the greatest was his pettiness and a case of extreme alpha male syndrome. Jordan, with a bad right wrist, hit 3 of 18 shots and hit no 3's in game 3, and Starks took full credit for slowing Jordan down. So how did Jordan respond? How's 6 3-pointers and dropping 54 in Starks face in game 4? GOAT!
What's amazing is how so many of those shots he made were difficult looks and very well contested..but when MJ was on like that, it didn't matter the shot or who was guarding him..it was, and still is awesome to watch...unless you're a Knicks fan in this case lol
The bulls would have never beaten a young Celtics and LAKERS teams in the 80's If the players were all young again. They would have to play Celtics in the east conference finals then beat the 80's LAKERS in the finals. I think the BULLS would have zero championships. BULLS fans you know deep inside it's true. CELTICS had the better D. BYRON SCOTT AND KAREEM can double Jordan and MAGIC and WORTHY can guard PIPPEN. The rest of the BULLS SUCK!
@superman32101 he does have a point though. While the rest of the Bulls are all fine role players, they simply cannot match up talent-wise with the teams in the 80's. The 1986 Celtics had 5 hall of famers and 7 total (past and future) all-stars on their team. The 1987 Lakers team had 2 of the top 5 players of all-time and a defensive player of the year coming off the bench. There were no weaknesses.. The '96 Bulls were largely a perimeter team that took advantage of a shortened 3pt line.
@kwab MJ put up 69 points on that loaded Celtics team, and that was before he had a team. The Bulls had 3 HoFers to their credit, including the GOAT, with the rest of the roster filled out by sharpshooters and great roleplayers.
@superman32101 The strategy was to let MJ get his while keeping everyone else in check and it worked. The 90's Bulls were great, no argument there, but talent still wins out a vast majority of the time. As dominant as Jordan is on offense, they don't have any inside scoring. They're basically a "donut" team. Celtics have Bird, Ainge, DJ and Wedman on the outside and Parish, Walton and McHale on the inside, no weaknesses. The Rodman/Longley/Wennington inside would be their undoing.
What I thought was so awesome about this game was that MJ was intentionally punking Starks all game long. Riley's Thugs pulled out all the stops to brutalize Jordan and Pippen, and the Knicks thought that they, and Starks, were finally getting to Jordan since they won the first 2 games. I don't think he said a word all game, just kept asking for the ball and hitting jumpers over Starks all day. Hilarious stuff.
@MrYoyoma33 LOL! The "legacy of starks"????? The dude was an average guard whose only "legacy" was that he occasionally hit big shots, but mainly played thuggish defense, fouled constantly, got in fights, and talked trash. What's wrong with me thinking it's funny that MJ made him look silly? MJ did that to a lot of guys, especially bitch-ass punks like Starks. If I'm "masturbating" over a true legend, then wtf are you doing when you over-inflate the reputation of a punk with no legit game?
@MrCheezyQ there you go again with the verbal abuse. Bitch-ass punk? you french kiss your mother with that mouth? Who are you to insult John Starks' body of work? Did you notice Jordan went 18 of 30, not 30 for 30? That means he missed 12 shots. 12 shots that HOOPSENCYCLOPEDIA conveniently neglects to post. Guess who was defending ont he majority of those shots? John Starks. Probably the most celebrated Jordan "Stopper" ever behind joe dumars. Have some respect when you talk. Yousound uneducated
@MrYoyoma33 ROFLMAO, wait, you're saying that Starks was a good defender because he held MJ to only 60% shooting? For MJ's career he shot just under 50%. Yeah, he really "stopped" Jordan there, didn't he - ONLY 60%. LOL! Starks wasn't a "Jordan stopper" anymore than I would have been. Knicks fans praise him for being a "tough" defender, but he was just a thug that punched, shoved, fouled and clotheslined his way to that reputation. He didn't even start half of the NBA games he played.
@MrYoyoma33 ...oh, and you're a hypocrite. You accuse me of "verbal abuse" and in the same breath say I'm "masturbating" to MJ and insinuated that I french my mom. Everything I've said has been 100% true and only directed at Starks as a player, not a person. You've attacked me personally, AND haven't said a truthful word about either player. I haven't said a SINGLE word about YOU until now. So quit with this BS about me being abusive and insulting, before I turn my attention your direction.
@MrCheezyQ oh really. now you are threatening me? All of youtube nation is witnessing this. you are all witnesses. This man is threatening me. FYI, my comment regarding your over enthusiasm for MJ was meant to be "verbal" masturbation. and yes im pretty sure you do french kiss your poodle (mom). You can end this right now by apologizing for your rude comments about John Starks.
@MrYoyoma33 LOL, threatening u? You, sir, are the pinnacle of stupidity. #1, you get your panties in a twist over a simple comment on a YT video about a thug who wasn't even a GOOD player. Boo-friggin-hoo. Perhaps a little Midol would help with your little problem? Either way, you really should consider bawling about it in private, rather than sobbing in public. #2, you come up with lame generic insults, like "you kiss your mom". Lemme return the favor, I f'd your mom. Call me daddy, bitch.
@MrYoyoma33 #3, you keep referring to Starks as if he was remotely good. He was BARELY average. #4, you can't argue worth shit. You don't state any facts to support your argument, and when you use a statistic, it completely proves the OPPOSITE point, as well as highlighting the fact that you are a COMPLETE moron. #5, your obvious love for Starks goes well beyond anything I have said about MJ. Perhaps you should get someone to remove your braces from his jock.
@MrYoyoma33 You really shouldn't publicize your IQ in your username. You ask me to have respect for you, yet you have zero credentials to demand it. You call me names because of some torrid love affair you have for Starks, but the insults are similar to what you'd hear from a 10-year old on the playground. You don't know basketball, you don't know anything. So just shut that trap that you use to suck Starks tiny dick. No one gives a shit about you and your 33 IQ.
@MrYoyoma33 Uh-huh. Right. I can clearly see your intention was to be friends. I'm just putting a troll in his place, that's all..."bro". If you want to talk basketball, I'm all about it. But if you want to keep hurling lame-ass insults, I'll send you back to the lagoon you oozed from.
@MrCheezyQ whatever broo. obviously we disagree on the great shooting guards of our lifetime. both were amazing and althogh Starks was clearly in a class by himself with his ability to perform in the bigges market in the world, i understand your fascination with jordan. sorry about the mom french kissing comment.r.waddya think about Scotty Pimpen and his comments about LBJ being greater than MJ? I dont think ive ever heard anyone say LBJ was greater than John STarks. I'm jus sayin
@MrYoyoma33 Yeah, well, we disagree because one of us knows what he is talking about, while the other is just an MJ-hater troll. Starks was neither amazing, nor was he great. He was in a class by himself only because he clothes-lined anybody who got by him, which was practically every guard he faced. And you're "jus sayin" comment, beyond it's sheer stupidity, is laced with douchebaggery. Congratulations, I think everyone here got the point that you're just a loser troll.
@MrYoyoma33 LOL, you can't be for real. This is hilarious shit "bro". The Jordan Conspiracy, featuring MrYoyoma33. Oh man, as much fun as it has been to observe this lesson in paranoid schizophrenia, I gotta go. Have fun sucking on Starks penis. Later.
@MrYoyoma33 Awwww...do you need a tissue? Again, Midol helps with those moody moments during PMS. Don't dish it if you can't take it. And what about referring to MJ as a n****r? I don't suppose that's crossing any lines, is it "bro"? Yeah, that's right, I know you're out trolling all the MJ vids. Dude, this shit is just too easy. You aren't even a challenge. You're the dumbest troll in history. Go home, cry to your mom that your daddy just bitch-slapped you, and GTFO. You will always be a loser.
Lebron would actually have had an easier time in the 90's than now, since there was no zone defense in the 90's, which forces you to shoot over the defender.
Lebron is an average shooter so it's harder for him to score against zone. But he can't be stopped from going to the basket, and with no zone allowed he'd physically dominate the players of the 90's.
@fdlmania Are you smoking crack and meth?Lebron is a great player, but in the 90's?They would have put him on his ass almost every time he went to the hole. The fouls they gave then are what we call "flagrant" fouls now.The league is nowhere near as physical now as it was then plus you had a good list of centers who weren't having that.Don't get me wrong Lebron would have made an impact, but he wouldn't do what he does now.The league didn't need zone then....everyone played D.Well almost everyone.
In the 80's Jordan was one of if not the most athletic player in history taking it to the hoop. At this stage of his career he worked himself into being the most athletic jump shooter ever. No defender had a a punchers chance in hell at stopping him.
This Jordan performance is extremely underrated. Everyone likes to talk about the 1992 "shrug" game, but he made 6 3-pointers in this game also against one of the best defenses in the NBA history. I think this game was much more impressive than game 1 in the finals in '92.
You're out of your mind if you think this is much more impressive than game 1 of the 92 finals. Nothing is much more impressive than that. I don't care what defense he was playing against, he looked absolutely invincible in that game. He ended that game before halftime. If that game was close there's no telling how many points he would've ended up with because he barely played in the second half and when he was playing he wasn't looking for his shot because the game was over.
@dzaf07 Yeah Jordan used this trick a number of times. I saw him do this once against Utah for a game winner and against Atlanta also for a game winner. Clever, real clever.
Watching this makes me angry how much of a media driven sissy circus this sport has besome. Seriously, I find myself watchin these old ass games a lot more entertaining than following nowadays finals. That's just sad.
And yep, MJ in this era with new defense rules would not be funny anymore. Teams would question their existence...LOL
Even a prime Clyde Drexler would burn anything today.
@megatroll Your letting your brain get the best of you. You see our brains make us think that things that happened in the past are better than the present.... Meaning if something was ok in the past in present day you'll think it was good and if something was good you'll think it was great. Just the way the brain works. Obviously your forgetting alot of Clyde's weaknesses. He was a little less athletic than LeBron with 3/4 of the skills... Also the media driven part began with Jordan's era.
@megatroll I understand that. But as a basketball fan and not a LeBron fan I can truly say LeBron is and would always be a better player than Drexler no matter what era you put him in. We have to remember these athletes can adjust and adapt. LeBron, Kobe,CP,D will all of them would still be successful in the 90's because the simple fact that they could easily adjust to the physicality. Kobe has played dominated it before. LeBron is an athletic beast. CP and D will are already very physical
But they definitely wouldn't put up those numbers.
Imagine LeBron James or Bryant against the 90s Knicks or hehehe... the Pistons. They are used to getting the whistle blown when someone looks strangely at them. Needless to say they would be devastated against this type of dirty play.
@Zachrydaman excellent point, I've been telling people for years, we must never disregard players from the past or present in reference to the golden era of the nba years from the 80's to early 90's...when you are great, your talent will allow you to adjust to any style of play....in the context of the modern game in that time period, past greats such as Wilt, Bob Petitt, Bill Russell, etc would be all-star players, perennial all-stars...
@Zachrydaman I try to appreciate all eras, what hurt the nba was too much expansion which began in the 90's which diluted the talent pool in the league, and the league tried to compensate by drafting an infusion of players right out of high school....in the past 5 years, the league has improved tremendously due to the 20 year age limit, which forces potential draftees to gain experience in college for at least 2 years to sharpen their skills
@Zachrydaman Kobe would be "the black mamba' in any era, people forget, even michael jordan said out of his own mouth that Kobe was a more advanced basketball player at 19 than he was at the same age..I rank Kobe (my favorite player since he's been in the league) as one of the top 5 players ever...Lebron needs a mid-range game bad, real bad, that's why he keeps coming up short in postseason play because well balanced teams are able to crowd him, taking away his ability to drive to the lane
@scorpionJB dont count on it dude... if kobe went on to play "before" MJ he will just be kobe. the NBA in kobe's era needed a poster boy on MJ'S pending retirement and he was one of the many "next jordan" wannabe's. fortunately for him the rest of the wannabe's choked 1 by 1. since he plays for the lakers he got the part...well what else is new. he can only be mamba in his era and never the era before him for the obvious reason... he's not cut for it. he has to copy MJ to at least look great...
@wornoutshoes11 I totally disagree....Jordan had inspiration, Dr. J. had inspiration, Elgin Baylor had inspiration, and Kobe is inspiring, greatness is predicated on learning from the past greats, the luminaries, larry bird drew inspiration....nobody comes out the box and build their game out of thin air....I love Jordan like the next person, and have viewed him as the best ever since he hit the 6 3 pointers against the blazers in the 92 finals, but Kobe's greatness can't be diminished either
@scorpionJB nobody is saying that kobe aint a hell of a player coz he really is. the real problem is that they hype him too much. dont tell me he never copied MJ coz he said it himself and its too obvious. it's one thing to be inspired by other past greats which is usually the case for present players but to literally copy someone is a totally different thing... dont give kobe too much props coz its usually comesback and bites him in the ass like what happen to the playoffs... lakers got swept.
@wornoutshoes11 you aint no wanna be when you sporting 5 rings on a single hand....Jerry West said Kobe was the most advanced basketball player drafted to the nba, rather it was college or high school that he had ever seen......ANYBODY...that came from the logo....I go by what the cats like them said......
@scorpionJB blah blah blah... west, magic, phil what do they have in common? oh right... all lakers. espn, stern and almost all analyst include elie seckbach amongs those who say that kobe is right next to MJ myth are also into that propaganda. shaq owns 3 and gasol was "the man" responsible for the 5th so dont give kobe the props for all of it... kobe as rookie/sophomore has nothing on eddie jones so how can u possibly say he'll make it b4 MJ's era? they will break hi skinny 17yrs old ass...
@wornoutshoes11 17 years old huh? as if anyone stays 17 years old forever...this is why I latch onto what coaches, scouts, and those who play in the league say, Jerry West arguably is the greatest talent evaluator of any nba GM ever....you can't last in this league for 16 years by copying someone else game...at some point, your own talent has to take precedence..Jordan entered the league at 195 lbs...Kobe entered the league at 17 between 185-190 lbs...so both of them were skinny as rookies
@wornoutshoes11 you wanna talk about copycats or "next jordans"..nobody was hyped up as the "next jordan" more than Harold Minor, he was a great dunker, but had NO game whatsoever....the guy who copied Jordan's look and mannerisms more than anyone WAS NOT Kobe Bryant, it was Kendall Gill, Gill was athletic, but had a lack of the fundamentals, had no jump shot.....T-Mac, Vinsanity, Grant Hill, and now Lebron is being portrayed to be better than Kobe, but they've never been close
@scorpionJB lebron being portrayed as better than kobe? LOL cmon now son... im not a fan of lebron but he is indeed better than kobe. u may have to stop watching espn's highlight reel and look at the stat's! LOL u people are too hyped up with the 81 points! yeah right. kendal gill? WTF!? LOL wow dude u are simply trying so hard to defend your kobe! since when did kendal made the list? cant help u if your in too deep with your kobe... live the dream dude but the truth is always out there...
@wornoutshoes11 Keep on thinking Lebron is better than Kobe and egg will run down your face every time...coaches, scouts, peers, cats who have played in this league, veterans, have all said that Kobe is a better player than Lebron and has more skill than Lebron...after 8 years in the league, Lebron STILL has no reliable mid-range jump shot, no post game, inability to play off the ball, unable to play w/this back to the basket, and a tendency to miss free throws during crucial game moments
@wornoutshoes11 AND Lebron James said himself after playing w/Kobe on TEAM USA who competed in the 2008 Olympics that he became a better player and defender after learning from Kobe...that came out of his own mouth....this is why I don't trip off of what others say who haven't played professional basketball...I don't trip off of what ESPN basketball analysts say because they have been hyping Lebron as the best in the league since 2008 and I knew it wasn't true
@wornoutshoes11 anytime you scored 8 frickin points in an NBA finals and you are viewed as the best player in the league, then your'e NOT the best player.....out of 6 games in that finals, Lebron scored a grand total of what 10-12 points in the 4th quarter of all those games combined...because he got D'd up, it took 3 games for Dallas to neutralize Lebron's game, just as Boston did in 2010, and when they took away his advantage of attacking the rim from beyond the 3 point line, he was done
@wornoutshoes11 nobody in the history of the NBA has been more hyped than Lebron James, so I don't want to hear anything about Kobe being hyped...cats want to latch on and crutch to the idea that Shaq was responsible solely for those 3 rings....cats forget the REAL NBA FINALS always took placed during the western conference finals, and many of those games, Kobe closed because Shaq had to be taken out the game in the 4th quarter because he couldn't hit free throws
@wornoutshoes11 yes, Pao Gasol is the best power forward the Lakers have ever had, but Pao has said time and time again that Kobe showed him how to elevate his game....Jordan doesn't win one title w/the Bulls w/out Scottie Pippen, and truth be told, the REAL REASON the Bulls won 72 games during the 95-96 wasn't because of the play at shooting guard or small forward, it was because they signed the greatest rebounder in the world to fill the void at power forward, DENNIS RODMAN
@wornoutshoes11 Rodman was the perfect compliment to Jordan and Pippen's style of play, he didn't command shots, his job was focusing on was defense and rebounding, averaged 15 rebounds his first year w/the Bulls....the way he rebounded, he probably gave the Bulls 10 extra possession per game they would not have had otherwise...Scottie Pippen could have averaged 25-26 ppg if he wanted to but sacrificed his stats for the sake of the team...Jordan didn't do it by himself..nobody does
@scorpionJB u talk about rodman as if it was that easy! remember san antonio? david robinson? he got kicked out and blamed for their loss even if he played his role tremendously well. for what reason?... ATTITUDE! remember rodman & the lakers? ... supposed to be a great help for Shaq and kobe! what happen? yeah right again... cant deal with his antics! never talk about rodman as if it was easy for MJ and PIP to play with him but they did and it worked for them and that's the whole story...
@wornoutshoes11 I can't believe I'm having this discussion..Rodman said point blank after joining the Bulls that he didn't respect David Robinson because he knew David did not have the will to carry the Spurs to a championship, and considering how Hakeem Olajuwon destroyed David during that 95 wcf's..Rodman saw something that the "experts" didn't...he respect Jordan and Pippen and when it was time to play when the stakes were highest, he was serious and got the job done
@wornoutshoes11 not making excuses for his behavior w/other teams, but Rodman had no respect for guys or coaches who hadn't won championships...and when he did sign w/the Lakers, I knew it was going to be a mistake...what I mean by great compliment to the Bulls, The Bulls needed a defender in the paint who could rebound after Horace Grant left the team, someone who wouldn't command shots, Rodman was the perfect acquisition for the Bulls and they won 3 straight titles as a result
@wornoutshoes11 as far as Kobe and Eddie Jones, Kobe had more game, but he had to pay his dues before earning the right to start, plus Eddie Jones was an all star shooting guard and Kobe was not going to start on that team w/the talent it had at that particular point. Eventually, Kobe earned the starting shooting guard spot years later...Eddie Jones had already been in the league 3 years before Kobe was drafted
@scorpionJB "Kobe and Eddie Jones, Kobe had more game"
again wow... u just dont run out of valuable informations (argh)! at that point of their career's eddie jones was by far a much much better player than kobe but since they were hyping up kobe as the next MJ... the lakers traded EJ and van exel just to make kobe start. dont give me that kobe had more game argument coz the only reason they can afford to trade those two was simply because they had a prime SHAQ! kobe was just hype! until now...
@wornoutshoes11 you can't sit here and tell me w/a straight face that Eddie Jones will go down in history as a better player than Kobe.....Eddie Jones played 3 years of college, and was in the nba 3 years before Kobe was drafted and traded to the lakers, Eddie was our feature starter as shooting guard and Kobe was not going to come in and take that spot no matter how good he was, he had to earn the spot.....
@wornoutshoes11 and the REAL reason Van Exel was traded was because Magic Johnson hurt the team's chemistry when he returned to the Lakers from retirement, he took over the point guard position, which wasn't fair, because Van Exel paid his dues to represent the team at that position, the team's chemistry was hurt, Van Exel protested, but because of who Magic was as far as his public stature, the organization sided w/him, Van Exel was ostracized, resulting in him being traded
@wornoutshoes11 no player in the history of the nba has been hyped more than LEBRON JAMES, so I don't even wanna hear it...your argument about Eddie Jones is baseless, considering the fact he had 6 more years of advanced basketball experience than Kobe did, so there was no way Kobe was going to start in his rookie season....I was a fan of Eddie, but he was mainly a slasher and a stand still 3 point shooter, whereas when Kobe matured, he could hit a shot from anywhere on the court
At 3:22 he got pissed off...so that was the end of it for the Knicks that day.
At that level, Pat Riley coaching, D-Wade with Lebron playing would have been in the locker room looking stupid... Bryant at least has a decent support so his ass doesn't have to run same way Jordan did.
can someone please tell me why john starks was always checking mike , i mean he basically got torched every time . couldnt the knicks have gotten an athletic wing defender or something ?
listen rings arent everything when consedering bill rusell even if he had the most... JORDAN was too good like people underate him so much its not even funny.. lebron has 0 RINGS and he gets soo much recognition for nothing the guy is sooo overate make magic happen and no matter what people say HIS 6 RINGS have more in them then any other run to the finals i ve seen so farr.. Michael jordan is a beast and we can both agree on it :D thanks
This was the time when it was MENS bball physical and tough the good ol days nowadays if guys played like this they wouldn't last the first half with all the sissy foul calls these are the good ol days
Kobe had Shaq, Kobe had a Coach who just won 6 Championships, and the Lakers always get all the Talent and Allstars. Jordan didnt have those advantages and Jordan never had a Center, and still Won 6. If he didnt Retire it would of been at least 9 or 10
@SwaggerLikeUz are you on another planet, dude? MJ had one of the best all around players in NBA history, as a sidekick...have you ever heard of SCOTTIE PIPPEN?!?!?! you talk like Jordan did it all on his own...you Jordan worshipers are so redundant, convincing yourselves that Jordan did it solo...i'll put it plainly for you, swagger...NO PIPPEN= NO RINGS FOR MJ....
@conni70 Yo' never paraphase what i said, and secondly I watched Jordan Games Pre First retirement, when he was in his Prime. Im not a Youtube Analysis, and a Young whipper snapping running my Trap. Even Chick Hearn said it one time, who were the Chicago Bulls before Jordan? .. Cows lol. The Lakers already had Allstars when Kobe got there, Jordan went to a Team that had Many Years of never going to the Playoffs, no Allstars. Kobe was lucky I wanna see Kobe on a Team like the Clippers etc.
@SwaggerLikeUz let me tell you something, Swagger, without Kobe the Lakers don't 3peat in the early 2000's...yes, i'm aware that Shaq was the alpha dog on those Shaq-Kobe teams...that said, Kobe's play was huge on countless occasions...example: game 4 of the 2000 finals against Indiana, when Shaq fouled out and Kobe put the team on his shoulders and took over the 4th quarter...or the 2001 western conf finals against the Spurs? Kobe fuckin destroyed the Spurs...
@SwaggerLikeUz but yes, no one is arguing Jordan's greatness...but rather pointing out how shortsighted and redundant all the MJ worshipers are...remember, the Bulls didn't start winning titles until the emergence of Pippen as a superstar...and yes, the Bulls did improve gradually, year after year after Jordan's arrival... but to take it to the next level Jordan needed someone else to step up and become a superstar...and that guy was Scottie Pippen... Jordan was blessed, to have had Pippen...
@conni70 jordan had the ability to elevate his team mate. so dont just say pippen just got super superstar. JOrdan taught him but it's all up to pippen how will he going to use that.
@conni70 It was MJ that made pippen to the player he was because he lacked heart until MJ instilled his tenaciousness & desire so pippen's emergence was vital but it was pippen that needed MJ to see his own potiential cuz without MJ he wouldn't be a top 50 of all time. So pippen as well as the rest of us were blessed to have seen MJ take a team from the bottom to the very top then into a dynasty.
@rob23molina ...no one, including myself is disputing the greatness of Jordan, you fucking moron...but your comments are exactly the shortsighted redundancy I'm referring to...you're so busy worshiping Jordan, that you have to marginalize other aspects of what made the Bulls a dynasty... But contrary to your claims, Jordan didn't MAKE Pippen, that was something mother nature did... also, Phil Jackson said on numerous occasions, that Pippen had the highest b-ball IQ of any player he ever coached
@conni70 WOW i'm so impressed tough guy that you can call me a name over the internet very brave. Anywayz that's your point and i stand behind my point just because you have an opinion doesn't make it accurate. MJ made pippen.
@rob23molina...yes, we are all entitled to our own opinions, even if we have stupid ones... like, you can have the opinion that spinach and broccoli are bad for you?...or you can have the opinion that we don't need air to breath? you see my point, dude?... you're being blinded from other aspects of what made the Bulls a dynasty, cus you're so preoccupied worshiping Jordan...but this "Jordan made Pippen" theory of yours, i'm still trying to figure out... perhaps you can explain it in more detail?
@conni70 Your absolutely right in regards to me worshiping MJ he is the greatest ever but it is not clouding my judgment for my theory. pippen didn't have the heart in the beginning you may remember all the physical teams would target him & it would intimidate him & it hurt the team so MJ recognized it & took him under his wing & forced his confidence, desire and ultimately his heart so MJ could trust him in games. I take nothing away from pippen he is awesome but it is bcuz if MJ.
@rob23molina... yeah, according to Jackson, Pippen picked up the triangle faster than Jordan...Jordan also used to stay after practice and work with Pippen on developing his baseline moves...according to Phil, it used to piss Jordan off, at how much better Pippen was at driving the baseline...so Pippen would work with Jordan on that...
@rob23molina ...but I'm not suggesting that Pippen was better than Jordan...but rather, bringing to your attention that as great as Jordan was, he couldn't do it on his own...he needed that superstar sidekick to help him take the Bulls to that championship level, and that's who Pippen was... Pippen is regarded by basketball insiders as the greatest perimeter defender in NBA history...he also is the all time leader in assists for a froward...and he is the all time steals leader, in the playoffs
@conni70 FYI, the Lakers team Kobe was on in 1998 was a 61 win team and had 3 all stars on it. And I don't think the goal is to say Jordan did it all alone, but rather that he was by far the most important player on the team and therefore deserves the most credit. By comparison, Shaq deserves the most credit on the 00-02 Lakers team just as Kobe deserves the most credit on the 09-10 Lakers team (over Gasol). In that sense, Jordan "won" 6 while Kobe was 2+3 as sidekick. Not the same.
@whsie1... the circumstances in which Kobe entered the league was entirely different than Jordan's...yes, that 1998 Lakers squad, had Shaq, Van Exel and Eddie Jones, with baby-Kobe coming off the bench...he wasn't in a situation were too much was demanded of him , and he was allowed to develop in his first couple years...but it was a circumstantial thing, as Jordan was drafted by a crappy Bulls team, and was put in the Alpha Dog role immediately...were as the Lakers already had Shaq in his prime
@whsie1...but those circumstances shouldn't diminish Kobe's role in those Shaq-Kobe championship teams... all the pundits want to point out that Kobe was lucky cus he had Shaq? but remember, Shaq couldn't win his ring(s) until Jackson showed up and put Kobe into a more prominent role, as the initial vision of Jerry West was finally played out... but in those Shaq-Kobe title years, Kobe was a monster in the playoffs, having huge games at crucial moments...
@whsie1...like game 4 of the 2000 finals against the Pacers, when Shaq fouled out and Kobe put the team on his shoulders, and took over the 4th quarter, hitting one clutch shot after another?...or that infamous western con. finals game 7 against Portland, when it was Kobe who broke Pippen's ankles with his wicked crossover, then lofted a perfect alley opp pass to Shaq?...or his ridiculous play against the Spurs in the western con. finals in 2001? these are but a few examples...
MJ is better than Kobe, but Kobe is a better shooter than MJ... Michael Jordan only made a little over 500 three pointers, and Kobe already has double what MJ had is his entire career.
@TheJimjet89 That just means he's a better 3 point shooter than MJ Mike wasnt no 3 ball dude tho, google this, "kobe still a sidekick" tell me what you think.
@TheJimjet89 That doesn't make you a better shooter. When has Kobe been over 50 percent FG percentage for a season? Jordan went over 50 many times and is right at 50 for the whole career.
@TheJimjet89 ???? Kobe made more threes than mj so he's a better shooter ? That's flawed logic for you! I'd say Jordan has a slightly superior midrange game than Kobe and he never worked on his three point shooting ability to the extent kobe has.
fuck kobe man no way is he comparable to mj, jordan won 6 titles with a good supporting cast kobe had a little bit of a cast with shaq on his first 3 titles but aside from that its all been bout him in the last 2 titles hes won
I would like to say this alound so everyone can hear. New York from that time used the best defense I have ever seen in my life and the best in whole nba history. Improved version of the Jordan rules was the best defense, absolutely the best defense. If you look at todays Boston which is considered as the best defensive team today - they look like little boys comparing to New York
@Jumpman1989 Yeah Imma a Knick fan and also for the first time since the 80s L.A/BOS battles a Celtic fan I love how KG anchors that D Doc was also a defensive cat. Yo I never saw a defense like them early 90s Pat Riley coached Knick teams they tried everything and could never do anything to even slow this cat down. Kobe think he got shut down by Boston's D I wish I could see him play against them Knick teams Ewing X-Man and Big Oak would crack his ass comin in that paint. John Starks too
all he does is jumpshoot.

GOAT!

@kevinjrxoxo The fact that you seriously believe the rest of the Bulls suck tells me exactly how much of a "fan" you are.
Or, to put it another way, the fact that you can't even remember Rodman is pitiful.
superman32101 7 months ago
@superman32101 he does have a point though. While the rest of the Bulls are all fine role players, they simply cannot match up talent-wise with the teams in the 80's. The 1986 Celtics had 5 hall of famers and 7 total (past and future) all-stars on their team. The 1987 Lakers team had 2 of the top 5 players of all-time and a defensive player of the year coming off the bench. There were no weaknesses.. The '96 Bulls were largely a perimeter team that took advantage of a shortened 3pt line.
kwab 7 months ago
@kwab MJ put up 69 points on that loaded Celtics team, and that was before he had a team. The Bulls had 3 HoFers to their credit, including the GOAT, with the rest of the roster filled out by sharpshooters and great roleplayers.
superman32101 7 months ago
@superman32101 The strategy was to let MJ get his while keeping everyone else in check and it worked. The 90's Bulls were great, no argument there, but talent still wins out a vast majority of the time. As dominant as Jordan is on offense, they don't have any inside scoring. They're basically a "donut" team. Celtics have Bird, Ainge, DJ and Wedman on the outside and Parish, Walton and McHale on the inside, no weaknesses. The Rodman/Longley/Wennington inside would be their undoing.
kwab 7 months ago
What I thought was so awesome about this game was that MJ was intentionally punking Starks all game long. Riley's Thugs pulled out all the stops to brutalize Jordan and Pippen, and the Knicks thought that they, and Starks, were finally getting to Jordan since they won the first 2 games. I don't think he said a word all game, just kept asking for the ball and hitting jumpers over Starks all day. Hilarious stuff.

@MrCheezyQ Dude, stop masturbating. jordan had a ncie game. no need to insult the legacy of starks with your 15 yr after the fact verbal abuse
MrYoyoma33 8 months ago
@MrYoyoma33 LOL! The "legacy of starks"????? The dude was an average guard whose only "legacy" was that he occasionally hit big shots, but mainly played thuggish defense, fouled constantly, got in fights, and talked trash. What's wrong with me thinking it's funny that MJ made him look silly? MJ did that to a lot of guys, especially bitch-ass punks like Starks. If I'm "masturbating" over a true legend, then wtf are you doing when you over-inflate the reputation of a punk with no legit game?
MrCheezyQ 8 months ago
@MrCheezyQ there you go again with the verbal abuse. Bitch-ass punk? you french kiss your mother with that mouth? Who are you to insult John Starks' body of work? Did you notice Jordan went 18 of 30, not 30 for 30? That means he missed 12 shots. 12 shots that HOOPSENCYCLOPEDIA conveniently neglects to post. Guess who was defending ont he majority of those shots? John Starks. Probably the most celebrated Jordan "Stopper" ever behind joe dumars. Have some respect when you talk. Yousound uneducated
MrYoyoma33 8 months ago
@MrYoyoma33 ROFLMAO, wait, you're saying that Starks was a good defender because he held MJ to only 60% shooting? For MJ's career he shot just under 50%. Yeah, he really "stopped" Jordan there, didn't he - ONLY 60%. LOL! Starks wasn't a "Jordan stopper" anymore than I would have been. Knicks fans praise him for being a "tough" defender, but he was just a thug that punched, shoved, fouled and clotheslined his way to that reputation. He didn't even start half of the NBA games he played.
MrCheezyQ 8 months ago
@MrYoyoma33 ...oh, and you're a hypocrite. You accuse me of "verbal abuse" and in the same breath say I'm "masturbating" to MJ and insinuated that I french my mom. Everything I've said has been 100% true and only directed at Starks as a player, not a person. You've attacked me personally, AND haven't said a truthful word about either player. I haven't said a SINGLE word about YOU until now. So quit with this BS about me being abusive and insulting, before I turn my attention your direction.
MrCheezyQ 8 months ago
@MrCheezyQ oh really. now you are threatening me? All of youtube nation is witnessing this. you are all witnesses. This man is threatening me. MrYoyoma33 8 months ago
MrCheezyQ 8 months ago
@MrYoyoma33 #3, you keep referring to Starks as if he was remotely good. He was BARELY average. #4, you can't argue worth shit. You don't state any facts to support your argument, and when you use a statistic, it completely proves the OPPOSITE point, as well as highlighting the fact that you are a COMPLETE moron. #5, your obvious love for Starks goes well beyond anything I have said about MJ. Perhaps you should get someone to remove your braces from his jock.
MrCheezyQ 8 months ago
@MrYoyoma33 You really shouldn't publicize your IQ in your username. You ask me to have respect for you, yet you have zero credentials to demand it. You call me names because of some torrid love affair you have for Starks, but the insults are similar to what you'd hear from a 10-year old on the playground. MrYoyoma33 8 months ago

Nobody is stopping Lebron in isolation.
fdlmania 11 months ago
@fdlmania Are you smoking crack and meth?Lebron is a great player, but in the 90's?They would have put him on his ass almost every time he went to the hole. The fouls they gave then are what we call "flagrant" fouls now.The league is nowhere near as physical now as it was then plus you had a good list of centers who weren't having that.Don't get me wrong Lebron would have made an impact, but he wouldn't do what he does now.The league didn't need zone then....everyone played D.Well almost everyone.
MrImDaManShawty 8 months ago
In the 80's Jordan was one of if not the most athletic player in history taking it to the hoop. At this stage of his career he worked himself into being the most athletic jump shooter ever. No defender had a a punchers chance in hell at stopping him.

This Jordan performance is extremely underrated. Everyone likes to talk about the 1992 "shrug" game, but he made 6 3-pointers in this game also against one of the best defenses in the NBA history. I think this game was much more impressive than game 1 in the finals in '92.
KoachKrab127 11 months ago
@KoachKrab127

Even a prime Clyde Drexler would burn anything today.
megatroll 1 year ago 35
@megatroll agreed.
jordan's last season (2002-03): 20 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 3.8 apg, 1.5 spg, 0.5 bpg, 2.1 topg, 2.1pfg, 37.0 mpg, 0.445 fg%, 0.2913P%, 0.821 ft%
this was jordan on his last legs (39 yrs old) on a bad team with jerry stackhouse as the only good help.
footballjava32 11 months ago
@megatroll Your letting your brain get the best of you. You see our brains make us think that things that happened in the past are better than the present.... Meaning if something was ok in the past in present day you'll think it was good and if something was good you'll think it was great. Just the way the brain works. Obviously your forgetting alot of Clyde's weaknesses. He was a little less athletic than LeBron with 3/4 of the skills... Also the media driven part began with Jordan's era.
Zachrydaman 4 months ago
@Zachrydaman
LeBron never even played against pre-2002 rule changes defense.
There is no comparison with Clyde.
megatroll 4 months ago
@megatroll I understand that. But as a basketball fan and not a LeBron fan I can truly say LeBron is and would always be a better player than Drexler no matter what era you put him in. We have to remember these athletes can adjust and adapt. LeBron, Kobe,CP,D will all of them would still be successful in the 90's because the simple fact that they could easily adjust to the physicality. Kobe has played dominated it before. LeBron is an athletic beast. CP and D will are already very physical
Zachrydaman 4 months ago
@Zachrydaman
Yes, that's true.
I never said otherwise.
But they definitely wouldn't put up those numbers.
Imagine LeBron James or Bryant against the 90s Knicks or hehehe... the Pistons. They are used to getting the whistle blown when someone looks strangely at them. Needless to say they would be devastated against this type of dirty play.
megatroll 4 months ago
@Zachrydaman excellent point, I've been telling people for years, we must never disregard players from the past or present in reference to the golden era of the nba years from the 80's to early 90's...when you are great, your talent will allow you to adjust to any style of play....in the context of the modern game in that time period, past greats such as Wilt, Bob Petitt, Bill Russell, etc would be all-star players, perennial all-stars...
scorpionJB 3 months ago
@Zachrydaman I try to appreciate all eras, what hurt the nba was too much expansion which began in the 90's which diluted the talent pool in the league, and the league tried to compensate by drafting an infusion of players right out of high school....in the past 5 years, the league has improved tremendously due to the 20 year age limit, which forces potential draftees to gain experience in college for at least 2 years to sharpen their skills
scorpionJB 3 months ago
@Zachrydaman Kobe would be "the black mamba' in any era, people forget, even michael jordan said out of his own mouth that Kobe was a more advanced basketball player at 19 than he was at the same age..I rank Kobe (my favorite player since he's been in the league) as one of the top 5 players ever...Lebron needs a mid-range game bad, real bad, that's why he keeps coming up short in postseason play because well balanced teams are able to crowd him, taking away his ability to drive to the lane
scorpionJB 3 months ago
@scorpionJB dont count on it dude... if kobe went on to play "before" MJ he will just be kobe. the NBA in kobe's era needed a poster boy on MJ'S pending retirement and he was one of the many "next jordan" wannabe's. fortunately for him the rest of the wannabe's choked 1 by 1. since he plays for the lakers he got the part...well what else is new. he can only be mamba in his era and never the era before him for the obvious reason... he's not cut for it. he has to copy MJ to at least look great...
wornoutshoes11 3 months ago
@wornoutshoes11 I totally disagree....Jordan had inspiration, Dr. J. had inspiration, Elgin Baylor had inspiration, and Kobe is inspiring, greatness is predicated on learning from the past greats, the luminaries, larry bird drew inspiration....nobody comes out the box and build their game out of thin air....I love Jordan like the next person, and have viewed him as the best ever since he hit the 6 3 pointers against the blazers in the 92 finals, but Kobe's greatness can't be diminished either
scorpionJB 3 months ago
@scorpionJB nobody is saying that kobe aint a hell of a player coz he really is. the real problem is that they hype him too much. dont tell me he never copied MJ coz he said it himself and its too obvious. it's one thing to be inspired by other past greats which is usually the case for present players but to literally copy someone is a totally different thing... dont give kobe too much props coz its usually comesback and bites him in the ass like what happen to the playoffs... lakers got swept.
wornoutshoes11 3 months ago
@wornoutshoes11 you aint no wanna be when you sporting 5 rings on a single hand....Jerry West said Kobe was the most advanced basketball player drafted to the nba, rather it was college or high school that he had ever seen......ANYBODY...that came from the logo....I go by what the cats like them said......
scorpionJB 3 months ago
@scorpionJB blah blah blah... west, magic, phil what do they have in common? oh right... all lakers. espn, stern and almost all analyst include elie seckbach amongs those who say that kobe is right next to MJ myth are also into that propaganda. shaq owns 3 and gasol was "the man" responsible for the 5th so dont give kobe the props for all of it... kobe as rookie/sophomore has nothing on eddie jones so how can u possibly say he'll make it b4 MJ's era? they will break hi skinny 17yrs old ass...
wornoutshoes11 3 months ago
@wornoutshoes11 17 years old huh? as if anyone stays 17 years old forever...this is why I latch onto what coaches, scouts, and those who play in the league say, Jerry West arguably is the greatest talent evaluator of any nba GM ever....you can't last in this league for 16 years by copying someone else game...at some point, your own talent has to take precedence..Jordan entered the league at 195 lbs...Kobe entered the league at 17 between 185-190 lbs...so both of them were skinny as rookies
scorpionJB 3 months ago
@wornoutshoes11 you wanna talk about copycats or "next jordans"..nobody was hyped up as the "next jordan" more than Harold Minor, he was a great dunker, but had NO game whatsoever....the guy who copied Jordan's look and mannerisms more than anyone WAS NOT Kobe Bryant, it was Kendall Gill, Gill was athletic, but had a lack of the fundamentals, had no jump shot.....T-Mac, Vinsanity, Grant Hill, and now Lebron is being portrayed to be better than Kobe, but they've never been close

@wornoutshoes11 Keep on thinking Lebron is better than Kobe and egg will run down your face every time...coaches, scouts, peers, cats who have played in this league, veterans, have all said that Kobe is a better player than Lebron and has more skill than Lebron...after 8 years in the league, Lebron STILL has no reliable mid-range jump shot, no post game, inability to play off the ball, unable to play w/this back to the basket, and a tendency to miss free throws during crucial game moments
scorpionJB 2 months ago
@wornoutshoes11 AND Lebron James said himself after playing w/Kobe on TEAM USA who competed in the 2008 Olympics that he became a better player and defender after learning from Kobe...that came out of his own mouth....this is why I don't trip off of what others say who haven't played professional basketball...I don't trip off of what ESPN basketball analysts say because they have been hyping Lebron as the best in the league since 2008 and I knew it wasn't true
scorpionJB 2 months ago
@wornoutshoes11 anytime you scored 8 frickin points in an NBA finals and you are viewed as the best player in the league, then your'e NOT the best player.....out of 6 games in that finals, Lebron scored a grand total of what 10-12 points in the 4th quarter of all those games combined...because he got D'd up, it took 3 games for Dallas to neutralize Lebron's game, just as Boston did in 2010, and when they took away his advantage of attacking the rim from beyond the 3 point line, he was done
scorpionJB 2 months ago
@wornoutshoes11 nobody in the history of the NBA has been more hyped than Lebron James, so I don't want to hear anything about Kobe being hyped...cats want to latch on and crutch to the idea that Shaq was responsible solely for those 3 rings....cats forget the REAL NBA FINALS always took placed during the western conference finals, and many of those games, Kobe closed because Shaq had to be taken out the game in the 4th quarter because he couldn't hit free throws
scorpionJB 3 months ago
@wornoutshoes11 yes, Pao Gasol is the best power forward the Lakers have ever had, but Pao has said time and time again that Kobe showed him how to elevate his game....Jordan doesn't win one title w/the Bulls w/out Scottie Pippen, and truth be told, the REAL REASON the Bulls won 72 games during the 95-96 wasn't because of the play at shooting guard or small forward, it was because they signed the greatest rebounder in the world to fill the void at power forward, DENNIS RODMAN
scorpionJB 3 months ago
@wornoutshoes11 Rodman was the perfect compliment to Jordan and Pippen's style of play, he didn't command shots, his job was focusing on was defense and rebounding, averaged 15 rebounds his first year w/the Bulls....the way he rebounded, he probably gave the Bulls 10 extra possession per game they would not have had otherwise...Scottie Pippen could have averaged 25-26 ppg if he wanted to but sacrificed his stats for the sake of the team...Jordan didn't do it by himself..nobody does
scorpionJB 3 months ago
@scorpionJB u talk about rodman as if it was that easy! remember san antonio? david robinson? he got kicked out and blamed for their loss even if he played his role tremendously well. for what reason?... ATTITUDE! remember rodman & the lakers? ... supposed to be a great help for Shaq and kobe! what happen? yeah right again... cant deal with his antics! never talk about rodman as if it was easy for MJ and PIP to play with him but they did and it worked for them and that's the whole story...
wornoutshoes11 2 months ago
@wornoutshoes11 I can't believe I'm having this discussion..Rodman said point blank after joining the Bulls that he didn't respect David Robinson because he knew David did not have the will to carry the Spurs to a championship, and considering how Hakeem Olajuwon destroyed David during that 95 wcf's..Rodman saw something that the "experts" didn't...he respect Jordan and Pippen and when it was time to play when the stakes were highest, he was serious and got the job done
scorpionJB 2 months ago
@wornoutshoes11 not making excuses for his behavior w/other teams, but Rodman had no respect for guys or coaches who hadn't won championships...and when he did sign w/the Lakers, I knew it was going to be a mistake...what I mean by great compliment to the Bulls, The Bulls needed a defender in the paint who could rebound after Horace Grant left the team, someone who wouldn't command shots, Rodman was the perfect acquisition for the Bulls and they won 3 straight titles as a result
scorpionJB 2 months ago
@wornoutshoes11 as far as Kobe and Eddie Jones, Kobe had more game, but he had to pay his dues before earning the right to start, plus Eddie Jones was an all star shooting guard and Kobe was not going to start on that team w/the talent it had at that particular point. Eventually, Kobe earned the starting shooting guard spot years later...Eddie Jones had already been in the league 3 years before Kobe was drafted
scorpionJB 3 months ago
@scorpionJB "Kobe and Eddie Jones, Kobe had more game"
again wow... u just dont run out of valuable informations (argh)! at that point of their career's eddie jones was by far a much much better player than kobe but since they were hyping up kobe as the next MJ... the lakers traded EJ and van exel just to make kobe start. dont give me that kobe had more game argument coz the only reason they can afford to trade those two was simply because they had a prime SHAQ! kobe was just hype! until now...
wornoutshoes11 2 months ago
@wornoutshoes11 you can't sit here and tell me w/a straight face that Eddie Jones will go down in history as a better player than Kobe.....Eddie Jones played 3 years of college, and was in the nba 3 years before Kobe was drafted and traded to the lakers, Eddie was our feature starter as shooting guard and Kobe was not going to come in and take that spot no matter how good he was, he had to earn the spot.....
scorpionJB 2 months ago
@wornoutshoes11 and the REAL reason Van Exel was traded was because Magic Johnson hurt the team's chemistry when he returned to the Lakers from retirement, he took over the point guard position, which wasn't fair, because Van Exel paid his dues to represent the team at that position, the team's chemistry was hurt, Van Exel protested, but because of who Magic was as far as his public stature, the organization sided w/him, Van Exel was ostracized, resulting in him being traded
scorpionJB 2 months ago
@wornoutshoes11 no player in the history of the nba has been hyped more than LEBRON JAMES, so I don't even wanna hear it...your argument about Eddie Jones is baseless, considering the fact he had 6 more years of advanced basketball experience than Kobe did, so there was no way Kobe was going to start in his rookie season....I was a fan of Eddie, but he was mainly a slasher and a stand still 3 point shooter, whereas when Kobe matured, he could hit a shot from anywhere on the court
scorpionJB 2 months ago
Damn. i dident realize how similar kobe and Michaels form is.
RTR9 1 year ago
At 3:22 he got pissed off...so that was the end of it for the Knicks that day.
At that level, Pat Riley coaching, D-Wade with Lebron playing would have been in the locker room looking stupid... Bryant at least has a decent support so his ass doesn't have to run same way Jordan did.

@interdev33 Two things. First, Starks always played with tenacity against Mike. Second, it's Mike. He torched everyone at some point.

Kobe had Shaq, Kobe had a Coach who just won 6 Championships, and the Lakers always get all the Talent and Allstars. Jordan didnt have those advantages and Jordan never had a Center, and still Won 6. If he didnt Retire it would of been at least 9 or 10
SwaggerLikeUz 1 year ago
@SwaggerLikeUz are you on another planet, dude? MJ had one of the best all around players in NBA history, as a sidekick...have you ever heard of SCOTTIE PIPPEN?!?!?! you talk like Jordan did it all on his own...you Jordan worshipers are so redundant, convincing yourselves that Jordan did it solo...i'll put it plainly for you, swagger...NO PIPPEN= NO RINGS FOR MJ....
conni70 1 year ago
@conni70 Yo' never paraphase what i said, and secondly I watched Jordan Games Pre First retirement, when he was in his Prime. Im not a Youtube Analysis, and a Young whipper snapping running my Trap. Even Chick Hearn said it one time, who were the Chicago Bulls before Jordan? .. Cows lol. The Lakers already had Allstars when Kobe got there, Jordan went to a Team that had Many Years of never going to the Playoffs, no Allstars. Kobe was lucky I wanna see Kobe on a Team like the Clippers etc.
SwaggerLikeUz 1 year ago
@SwaggerLikeUz let me tell you something, Swagger, without Kobe the Lakers don't 3peat in the early 2000's...yes, i'm aware that Shaq was the alpha dog on those Shaq-Kobe teams...that said, Kobe's play was huge on countless occasions...example: game 4 of the 2000 finals against Indiana, when Shaq fouled out and Kobe put the team on his shoulders and took over the 4th quarter...or the 2001 western conf finals against the Spurs? Kobe fuckin destroyed the Spurs...

conni70 1 year ago
@SwaggerLikeUz but yes, no one is arguing Jordan's greatness...but rather pointing out how shortsighted and redundant all the MJ worshipers are...remember, the Bulls didn't start winning titles until the emergence of Pippen as a superstar...and yes, the Bulls did improve gradually, year after year after Jordan's arrival... but to take it to the next level Jordan needed someone else to step up and become a superstar...and that guy was Scottie Pippen... Jordan was blessed, to have had Pippen...
conni70 1 year ago
@conni70 jordan had the ability to elevate his team mate. so dont just say pippen just got super superstar. JOrdan taught him but it's all up to pippen how will he going to use that.
energytic 1 year ago
@conni70 It was MJ that made pippen to the player he was because he lacked heart until MJ instilled his tenaciousness & desire so pippen's emergence was vital but it was pippen that needed MJ to see his own potiential cuz without MJ he wouldn't be a top 50 of all time. So pippen as well as the rest of us were blessed to have seen MJ take a team from the bottom to the very top then into a dynasty.
rob23molina 1 year ago
@rob23molina ...no one, including myself is disputing the greatness of Jordan, you fucking moron...but your comments are exactly the shortsighted redundancy I'm referring to...you're so busy worshiping Jordan, that you have to marginalize other aspects of what made the Bulls a dynasty... But contrary to your claims, Jordan didn't MAKE Pippen, that was something mother nature did... also, Phil Jackson said on numerous occasions, that Pippen had the highest b-ball IQ of any player he ever coached
conni70 1 year ago
@conni70 WOW i'm so impressed tough guy that you can call me a name over the internet very brave. Anywayz that's your point and i stand behind my point just because you have an opinion doesn't make it accurate. MJ made pippen.
rob23molina 1 year ago
@rob23molina...yes, we are all entitled to our own opinions, even if we have stupid ones... like, you can have the opinion that spinach and broccoli are bad for you?...or you can have the opinion that we don't need air to breath? you see my point, dude?... you're being blinded from other aspects of what made the Bulls a dynasty, cus you're so preoccupied worshiping Jordan...but this "Jordan made Pippen" theory of yours, i'm still trying to figure out... perhaps you can explain it in more detail?
conni70 1 year ago
@conni70 Your absolutely right in regards to me worshiping MJ he is the greatest ever but it is not clouding my judgment for my theory. pippen didn't have the heart in the beginning you may remember all the physical teams would target him & it would intimidate him & it hurt the team so MJ recognized it & took him under his wing & forced his confidence, desire and ultimately his heart so MJ could trust him in games. I take nothing away from pippen he is awesome but it is bcuz if MJ.
rob23molina 1 year ago
@rob23molina... yeah, according to Jackson, Pippen picked up the triangle faster than Jordan...Jordan also used to stay after practice and work with Pippen on developing his baseline moves...according to Phil, it used to piss Jordan off, at how much better Pippen was at driving the baseline...so Pippen would work with Jordan on that...
conni70 1 year ago
@rob23molina ...but I'm not suggesting that Pippen was better than Jordan...but rather, bringing to your attention that as great as Jordan was, he couldn't do it on his own...he needed that superstar sidekick to help him take the Bulls to that championship level, and that's who Pippen was... Pippen is regarded by basketball insiders as the greatest perimeter defender in NBA history...he also is the all time leader in assists for a froward...and he is the all time steals leader, in the playoffs
conni70 1 year ago
@conni70 If you don't care for my opinion WHO GIVES A FUCK your no one.
rob23molina 1 year ago
@conni70 FYI, the Lakers team Kobe was on in 1998 was a 61 win team and had 3 all stars on it. And I don't think the goal is to say Jordan did it all alone, but rather that he was by far the most important player on the team and therefore deserves the most credit. By comparison, Shaq deserves the most credit on the 00-02 Lakers team just as Kobe deserves the most credit on the 09-10 Lakers team (over Gasol). In that sense, Jordan "won" 6 while Kobe was 2+3 as sidekick. Not the same.
whsie1 1 year ago
@whsie1 Awesome point.
rob23molina 1 year ago
@whsie1... the circumstances in which Kobe entered the league was entirely different than Jordan's...yes, that 1998 Lakers squad, had Shaq, Van Exel and Eddie Jones, with baby-Kobe coming off the bench...he wasn't in a situation were too much was demanded of him , and he was allowed to develop in his first couple years...but it was a circumstantial thing, as Jordan was drafted by a crappy Bulls team, and was put in the Alpha Dog role immediately...were as the Lakers already had Shaq in his prime
conni70 1 year ago
@whsie1...but those circumstances shouldn't diminish Kobe's role in those Shaq-Kobe championship teams... all the pundits want to point out that Kobe was lucky cus he had Shaq? but remember, Shaq couldn't win his ring(s) until Jackson showed up and put Kobe into a more prominent role, as the initial vision of Jerry West was finally played out... but in those Shaq-Kobe title years, Kobe was a monster in the playoffs, having huge games at crucial moments...
conni70 1 year ago
@whsie1...like game 4 of the 2000 finals against the Pacers, when Shaq fouled out and Kobe put the team on his shoulders, and took over the 4th quarter, hitting one clutch shot after another?...or that infamous western con. finals game 7 against Portland, when it was Kobe who broke Pippen's ankles with his wicked crossover, then lofted a perfect alley opp pass to Shaq?...or his ridiculous play against the Spurs in the western con. finals in 2001? these are but a few examples...
conni70 1 year ago
@conni70 NO JORDAN pippen would not exist.

lol Phil Jackson is just chillin', almost like he's not even coaching. Just let MJ do his thing

MJ is better than Kobe, but Kobe is a better shooter than MJ... Michael Jordan only made a little over 500 three pointers, and Kobe already has double what MJ had is his entire career.
TheJimjet89 1 year ago
@TheJimjet89 That just means he's a better 3 point shooter than MJ Mike wasnt no 3 ball dude tho, google this, "kobe still a sidekick" tell me what you think.
mookeychase0907 1 year ago
@TheJimjet89 That doesn't make you a better shooter. When has Kobe been over 50 percent FG percentage for a season? Jordan went over 50 many times and is right at 50 for the whole career.
ryanrayonec 1 year ago
@TheJimjet89 ???? Kobe made more threes than mj so he's a better shooter ? That's flawed logic for you! I'd say Jordan has a slightly superior midrange game than Kobe and he never worked on his three point shooting ability to the extent kobe has.
helenlundeberg 1 year ago
fuck kobe man no way is he comparable to mj, jordan won 6 titles with a good supporting cast kobe had a little bit of a cast with shaq on his first 3 titles but aside from that its all been bout him in the last 2 titles hes won

4:35-4:40 wow, and people claim that Kobe is a better shot maker.

Jumpman1989 1 year ago
@Jumpman1989 Yeah Imma a Knick fan and also for the first time since the 80s L.A/BOS battles a Celtic fan I love how KG anchors that D Doc was also a defensive cat. Yo I never saw a defense like them early 90s Pat Riley coached Knick teams they tried everything and could never do anything to even slow this cat down. Kobe think he got shut down by Boston's D I wish I could see him play against them Knick teams Ewing X-Man and Big Oak would crack his ass comin in that paint. John Starks too
