Wrong again. Regardless of the the fact generation undisciplined thinks you can act how ever you wish, they are wrong about that and you are wrong about slow rolling, your right to your opinion to not withstanding. Don't slow roll, it is bad form and will not help you win at poker so it is pointless show-boating.
@RasterGraph I dont know why you would delete your comment. But getting MUGGED for slow-rolling? That is so wrong and stupid. If someone is too much of a child and a sore loser to accept a defeat then that person shouldn't be plyting grownups games, like poker. Someone slow-rolls you and defeats your cards, so what? Deal with it like a grownup should.
Actually what I have said about slow rolling is not just my personal opinion, it is the opinion of most professional poker players and the general poker playing public. You are just arguing stupidity here because you cannot handle that you are incorrect in your opinion on slow rolling. Also I am not deleting my posts it is most likely the clip poster performing hose keeping. Do you see your comments in the thread?
I am done arguing with you kid, you are wrong. Deal with it.
if someoen gets mad for a player showing a card 1 second after the other and not at the same time then he or she is a stupid angry aspie who is not to be listened to.
Neither of those are slow-rolling. Slow-rolling is when you have an unbeatable hand and someone goes all in and you sit there and pretend to think about it even though you have the nuts. Those two things mentioned, yeah thats being an asshole, but neither is slow-rolling. I mean think about it, those two things you can do...neither of them involve being slow. Being slow to make an easy decision...aka when you're obviously the winner...that's slow-rolling.
1) Representing a losing hand before showing a winning hand at showdown.
2) Tanking once a player is all in before calling the nuts and their is no more action to come. This includes Aces pre-flop.
3) Flipping one card before the other at showdown
One and Two are the worst when done intentionally and even when done by accident it is not well received. The third is looked at as show boating or attention whoring and is also not well received.
hahaha trip 7's ... not only is it NOT trip 7's but actuyally a full house ... THAT scenario stillll wouldnt be "trip 7's" it'd be a "set of 7's" there IS a difference ... so this was a complete disaster fail lol
the slowrolls you have described could be categorized as softies-slowroll. How slowrolls suppose to be is not when the hand is over, but when the guy who has the nuts is thinking for a long long time to call the all-in of the other guy. Just to let the other guy have a glimpse of hope, false hope that would be. Thats the way to slowroll someone
Poker Ettiquette? Your taking peoples money, what the least you can do is be polite? LOL fuck that. Be rude, it gets in there heads, and they cant play poker if they arent concentrating.
the cards speak u can say i got shit and if u turn over your hand the dealer will announce "queens full" and youll det the pot with your boat even tho u announced i got shit like a slowrolling asshole
What about the Phil Helmuth vs. Mike Baxter incident on Poker After Dark? The board was 39387, no flushes possible. Baxter turns over pocket KK and announces "two pair" and Phil goes nuts and says it was a terrible slow roll. I guess he expected Mike to say "kings up" or "kings and threes" instead of two pair. What do you think? You can see video of it at
watch?v=HWuNxGBeT2M
The hand in question is in the very beginning of the video.
Listen knob head. calm down. Maybe mucked was the wrong word, but if you declare your hand incorrectly you can no longer win the pot. your hand is void. I play every night, casinos etc, think they know more than a mouthy little tramp like you.
I also play in casinos, and that's not the rules of the particular casinos that I've ever played in. Maybe yours are different, but the non-house rule is called 'the cards speak', and it basically means what you are saying is totally wrong.
This is to weedipikia aswell. I play at casino's ad local places all around England (maybe it's because i'm in england??... And if you declare your hand incorrectly, you lose the hand. everywhere I have played.
Nah that can't be it, I'm from England as well. Well, I was looking at the WSOP Main Event Rules in an attempt to clear this up, and it seems that if you misdeclare your hand, your hand is not mucked, but you can receive a penalty at the discretion of the floorman if he feels it was malicious/if the offence is persistent. This aligns with my experience; it is not an automatic mucking by any means!
You must not play Texas Hold'em. It's not a declaration game. No matter what you say, the cards are what matters. Maybe you play California Lowball or something?
Correct. Sometimes players misread their hands but when the cards are turned over "the cards speak". This means that every player at the table is obliged to help out reading the hands correctly. So if another player turns over his hand showing a 8 for trip 8s only and the dealer also overlook the full house and is about to award the pot to the second player incorrectly, then you must point out that the trip 7s is actually a full house. This is not a etiquette issue. Cards speak is an actual rule
god fkin damnit im sick of stupid people saying "trips are the same as a set". the TERM trips isn't the same as a set. watch any poker show, read any blog. even watch the wsop, they arent used in the same context. some examples: you ever hear someone say "trips over trips"? no!!! they say "set over set". grow a brain and stop trying to make defense for an argument you will look stupid trying to win, and wont
and on another note, this guy doesnt know the difference between a set and trips. two in the hole and one on the board is a SET, and two on the board and one in the hand is TRIPS. oh and he didnt have trip 7's, he had 7's full, durrrrrr.
ok, this guy has the right idea, but the wrong way of demonstrating it (really terrible actually lol). for one, a few people here are getting the terms "slow play" and "slow roll" mixed up. for those who don't know, slow playing is when in action, you deliberately take your time to make a call/raise with very strong cards or the nuts to induce your opponent to bet. a SLOW ROLL is when the hand is over, and you take your sweet ass time showing your cards. dont do this, its fkin rude.
Ahh, no, "slow playing" is NOT "taking your time to make a call/raise with very strong cards..." If that has a term at all, it might be "Hollywooding."
Slow playing is a legitimate betting strategy that means simply checking/calling or min-betting monster hands on early streets, to induce your opponent to at least stay in the hand in hopes he'll improve (or at least think he has) on later streets and bet out. It's a classic "weakness means strength" move, but doesn't involve any "acting."
It is NOT the same...i wont even give reasons anymore because i have said this to many times...look it up, go to a casino and ask someone who knows, post it on a poker forum and let people tell you the same.
In fairness, a lot of books and pros use the terms "set," "trips," and "three of a kind" as if they were all interchangeable. It took me a while to learn there was a difference, and of course the difference is a lot more than just a term--two in the hole is a lot stronger than two on the board and are played a lot differently.
@SSHSY For real, and he's also ignoring other forms of slowrolling, like being dealth AA and someone going all in preflop and you waiting to think about calling for an extended period of time.
@SSHSY why rant so much on this guy, ofcourse it's a pretty stupid mistake, but I think he's doing a good job explaining it for people who don't know.....
it's not even that big of a deal unless you make it a big deal, or unless the guy does it in an "assholish" way.
Phil Helmuth got pissed at a guy who said he had 2 pair when it was an overpair to the board which had a pair, but that was after he instacalled and the guy wasn't doing it to piss him off.
Any normal person wouldn't be mad, but it's only because phil knows that it's "considered" bad eddiquete and it resembles slow rolling that he makes it a big deal It's phils own perception

There are three forms of slow rolling;

Set - Flop a Set - Trips
1) Set: three of a kind where you have a pair hidden and one more exposed
2) Flopping a Set: having a pocket pair, and hitting one of your pair on the flop.
For example, you hold 88 and the flop is 872.
3) Turning a Set / Rivering a Set: hitting your card on fourth or fifth street.
4) Trips: three of a kind where two are exposed and one is hidden.
For example you hold 87, and the flop is 882.
