When it comes to road infrastructure and funding, Va. is often compared to NC. The general consensus is that Va. generally has a larger percentage of poor pavement than NC does. I haven't really been in NC enough, honestly, to make that judgement call but I know you guys have a much higher gas tax than we do in order to pay for roads. And the state doesn't appear to be suffering as a result of that. Bottom line: Virginia needs to raise its gas tax.
@VaFreeways I-40 in Iredell and Catawba Counties is pretty rough and bumpy, as is US 52 heading to Mount Airy and the VA line. I-77 can also be somewhat of a rough drive near Statesville. Many NC interstates are at or above capacity and have been for many years. That tax basically brought the deficit down as projects are still being constantly delayed. I've always thought VA roads were well maintained and funded. Of course, I spend a lot of time in NoVA and DC so my opinion is likely biased. :-)
@CosmoPhotography Yeah VDOT just released its latest 5-year construction plan (done on an annual basis). Basically in terms of construction NoVa gets most everything and the rest of the state gets relatively diddly squat. Which is great the DC suburbs are getting some much needed upgrades but other places like Hampton Roads get nothing, which is rather unfair.

Nice vid, Evan. Really liked the annotations.
You ran into a few "left lane trains" at the end of the video. :-)
