  • Before people start raging about the title. PLEASE NOTICE that:

-There are thousands of Linux out there. Ubuntu might be a good example, Mac is actually a Linux too (look it up before you start arguing with me)

    - Video games are designed for Windows, not Linux. Even though you can play some games on Linux though.

    - I have 3 computers:

1 for gaming and I have Windows 7 installed.

1 for my programming class and 1 for my 3D movies. Both of these are Linux, my friend programmed it.

  • @meroveonepiece No thanks. Mac is a UNIX. Linux is a UNIX. There is a common ground between Mac and Linux. Not that Mac is a Linux, they are just both UNIces.

  • @jjovereats Mac was made FROM Linux.

Windows was made FROM Linux, too. lol look it up. Anything that has Command Prompt are UNIX which means Window is a Linux, too. and if you don't know then please don't talk.

Back then the only thing that you can go on Computer and do is alll thru the Command Prompt, but then Linux was released (it was free) and it has GUI (Graphical User Interfaces) which is Desktop, like I said, if you don't know about Linux, then don't argue with me about it..

  • @meroveonepiece Alright. Look at JBrealow's post 385 (title Is Mac OS... you get the point) where it says it uses Mach, which is the best of FreeBSD+OpenBSD. DOS had zip to do with UNIX, except that it had a command prompt. And to this day, Windows and Linux have pretty much zip to do with each other, except now they have a GUI. Linux retains the command prompt to this day, whereas Windows has ditched it's only virtual terminal. Mac OS has nearly zip to do w/ Linux.

  • @jjovereats he's wrong, dude. Linux was actually the father of Windows and Mac. I got it wrong when I said Linux is Mac, I'm sorry about that, but before Linux was made, Unix is what exist and my dad said that it was total shit. All you do is sitting at your keyboard and type for command. sigh..

  • @meroveonepiece Look. FreeBSD has more to do with Linux than with Windows. FreeBSD and OpenBSD together have more in common with Mac and with Linux. Unix was good, just linux is better.

  • limux if you hate some one just use it to hack there facebook linux ftw also very fast fuck winblows

  • OK now do it with Gnome 3. LOL! at least KDE is still useful.

  • @MrGizmo757 Fallback mode with Compiz, done! ;-)

  • What dock application are you using?

  • @MegaJimJack

    avant-window-navigator ;)

  • Sorry but this is very old.. KDE 4 is where you want to be if you are moving from windows and want an improved experience.

The effects your showing don't make an OS.. They aren't a reason to use Linux either.. I've been trying to find a distro I feel comfortable with for years and I found it in KDE 4.. Linux Mint KDE edition infact.. It's perfect.

  • @fatriff

This video was for Fun not to Promote Linux to Windows Users

  • @Linux4UnMe

What!? There is no way of Compiz effects to substitute Windows...

  • very nice like that :)

  • @777Gudwin

    cheers ;)

  • @Chris02135

    arch

  • What kind of system specs do you have on that? Everything is running very smoothly on it.

  • @dmaxel951

nothing special. Dualcore 3ghz, 4gigs ram, nvidia 7800gtx

  • Even Mac users still need windows...

  • Using icons on desktop? C'mon, don't mess with Arch like that. Those are for Windows users. Anyway, nice video. :)

  • @jeaquares

lol what are you getting at? icons on Desktop? are you comparing gnome 3 / unity new paradigm to the old paradigm?

  • @Linux4UnMe nope. I'm just talking about that having icons on desktop isn't for us. :) That's something that stupid Windows and Mac users do. :P And also I don't use GNOME 3 yet. I'm still on 2.32 and of course Arch. :)

  • @Linux4UnMe BTW, that's the first video I've seen "1080p option" on Youtube. That must be something about not having time on Youtube that much.

  • Did you used Beryl or something else????????

  • @manojtanwar1711

compiz fusion mate. Beryl and compiz got merged long time ago.......

  • LINUX #FTW

  • this is an awesome video! i love the lip sync with Linghting McQeen

  • nice illegal Cars movie lol

  • @FXKrait

LoL hmmmm. narrrrr it was a fake torrent download. I was tricking you..... let's go with that ;)

  • @TheLinuxsensei

LoL yeah I been wantin to make a video like that for a while

  • yeah nice vid

  • i guess it's more like a video of what compiz can do...but still, it was a nice vid...

i was actually going to make a vid like this, but you beat me to it... good job...

btw, where did you get the pic of that view of a city for your skydome image? that looked really cool.

  • @elnegrobembon

ummm. i think i randomly googled compiz skydomes, and that one

was Paris and i liked it ;)

  • @Linux4UnMe

ok thanks. i'll look for it..

  • @elnegrobembon even so, compiz is like the linuz equivilant of windows' aero feature. but it's not that bad. some people are lured by windows' eye candy and this vid ( to me/ my opinion) shows that Linuz has just as good if not better eye candy if that's all that a person is drawn by

  • @experimental0000

oh without a doubt compiz looks cooler.. not only that, but some of the eye candy and features of compiz are actually useful and practical.

even though, i think i saw a video somewhere of somebody using windows and it had the compiz cube effect... it could've been a fake but if it isn't, then windows is finally catching up lol!

  • @elnegrobembon well, there are quite a few really good looking windows themes for linux so it's possible that it could've been something like that as I've never seen anything like that third party for windows anywhere but I could be wrong.

  • @experimental0000

You can get the cube effect for windows.... i'm not sure what other effects come with it. it's called Yodm 3d

  • @experimental0000

    There is also Shock 4way

  • @experimental0000

Just bill gates trying to copy Linux

  • @ms12add

    oh. and here /watch?v=utmhlcm-7r0

    and here /watch?v=GTKlpTmvA0U

use the fusion-icon to pick whether you want emerald, or metacity as you're window manager... you can have compiz running with either one.... just makes it easy to switch window decorators that way....

  • @ms12add

hi. I have a video on this.... /watch?v=NDe42TPXPUU

  • I am newly using ubuntu, so can I get the same visual effects if I installed compiz?

  • @magedsyehia

sure. Just make sure you have compiz, compiz settings manager, fusion icon, compiz plugins/extra and you should be set.

  • Linuz rulez! But... A huge amount of business apps only work on windows.

  • what program are you using for music?

  • @aitaix

    banshee

  • Hell yea arch power under hood :D

  • @tomatobros

    hell yeah. haha

  • cool video. ive been using linux less then a year, and i favor it over windows anyday. am interested on your hardware specs, how long youve been using linux (arch especially) and how much estimated work you invested into getting your setup "perfect"

  • @shinigamiauthor

sweeet. Nothing too fancy.... amd dualcore 3ghz, 4 gigs ram, asus m4n mobo, Nvidia 7800 gtx. Using Linux for about 6 years, using Arch for about 1.5 to 2 years.....

Doesn't take that long for me to get the gui the way i want it.. maybe a couple hours max ;)

  • Cool! A dazzling display of Compiz eye-candy :)

  • @mousegeek

lol yer.... only did it for Fun... and maybe attract some new subs ;)

  • i am pretty sure you just meant: compiz, who needs areo. Stop showing off compiz features, it's so common, everyone is using it.

  • @chenxubin

how about you kiss my ass and don't tell me what I should and shouldn't do... mind you're business

  • @Linux4UnMe You r the worst linux user i've seen, unsuscribed.

  • @chenxubin how?

  • @chenxubin

Good. I don't want fukheads subscribed to me
