Hi im a sophomore in high school and i want to get into this whole protein thing after my workouts, i was wondering, i weigh 145 so do i have one whey shake of protein of 290g after every workout? sorry to bother im just confused.
i weigh 125 , 5'6 ben this size pretty much since i was like 12 n im 17 now boutta b 18.. iv ben taking a scoop of whey protein n a shake a day n i workout every day (on different things) iv ben using weigh protein for maybe like 2 weeks now? how long will it take till i see results... also is whey protein good wit body weight exercises? kuz i hardly getta go ta tha gym
Penut butter, chicken breast, eggs, nuts, tuna, and protien shake, and its only how much u weigh, if i weigh 180 then u eat 180 grams if protien a day
Food and supplement are meant to repair muscles, building muscles is workout and you must train hard and get strong. Just saying... But yeah protien & Creatine is all you really need.
You don't need a fast acting protein after your workout, its a myth. Whey protein and casein protein both cause equal protein synthesis. Look up this study on PubMed: "Ingestion of casein and whey proteins result in muscle anabolism after resistance exercise." This study is only true if you have proper prew/o nutrition. The insulin elevation produced from your prew/o meal can last long after your workout. You'd only need to eat something post w/o is you are lifting while fasted.
So if im 5'6" how much protein will i need a day? and ive heard that pure sources of protein such as meat are better than powders because they are basically muscle itself, just dead muscle, is that correct?
I am 6" and weigh 225 lb. Am not trying to bulk up, just trying to lose all my fat and turn it into muscle...basically get toned. Should I be consuming protein given that I have enough fat in my body? Am not to get all buff. Just want definition.
I'm fifteen years old, I add about ten reps to my work outs every week. ( I do squats, Crunches, Push ups, Lift weights All the basic workouts. I'm not getting much results.. I certainly have had results, just not what I wish.. (And I do have protein shakes after my workouts.. Does being a teenager affect me in anyway?
I'm a 34yr old woman and I want to build muscle. Should I be doing the same? I've muscles in my arms, legs, buns, etc but it's not obvious enough. I want it to have a more prominent shape.
Great video, it helped me a lot. Obviously you know what you're talking about, but I am like 5'5" and I weigh 121 lbs, should I be eating 242 grams of protein after I workout? If so, where can I get all that protein from?
Im no expert (this is why i watch this stuff), but why do people always seem to refer to taking protein after a workout for your muscles to grow... Im pretty sure its so your muscle Cells repair... every time they repair the fibers withing the cells multiply and grow (within the cell).like the the voice over guy said Its that your muscle cells can basically die after exhausting workouts due too lack of oxygen and stuff (sorry i cant remember the right term) Haha but sorry thats my 2 cents =/p
Greaattt video!!!! Helped me out a lot! I had that concern if protein really worked cause one of my friend told me it was just a waste of money. thanks for the tips!!
Not only Right after, but you should be eating a Well Nutrient High in protein Meal every 2 hours after your workout for 3 days +. Take a multivitamin if your not getting your vitamins.
To lose fat first and build muscle later, the answer is don't do any muscle building first, but you running first , when you have lose your fat than workout on weight and build muscle, that the best way i think.Or you can do all these 2 at the same time if you got the time, and endurance by the way i am a chinese who are not good in english
@vincent7125 if your overwieght you should lift first for about a year. you will have much more rapid muscle growth and it will be easier to increase size.
first i m not overwieght that comment for a dude who are fat and bulky and i don want to look bulky, i want to look lean and fit with those lean muscle mass, like bruce lee.
I'm 6'6 255lbs. I'm a little overweight but not terribly. You're telling me I'd have to consume 510 grams of protein? How could I possibly consume that much? My calorie intake for the day is only 3000 calories. I'd probably have to eat well over 4500 calories to even get that much protein. That's with three shakes and a large diet of eggs, meats and nuts.
@TheNobleBard 6'6" 255 you're a BIG dude which means yeah you'd need to eat more calories to support your body mass and grow beyond it. You'd split your meals up into 6 (or in your case maybe even 7) meals a day. But it sounds like you're not a hardgainer at all so you might want to try starting off with 1.5 grams per pound... See what kind of results that gets you and if you're not getting results then increase your intake.
@WeightGainNetwork Well, I'm not sure if I'm a hard gainer or not. Six months ago I weighed 300lbs and was very heavy. Since then I've dropped almost 50lbs but I still have about an inch of fat on my stomach, an inch and a half around my upper arms. I've probably gained around 2-3 inches of muscle in my arms and 4 inches of muscle in my stomach, 2 inches of muscle in my chest, 1 inch in my shoulders, and 3 or 4 inches in my legs. All I'm using is a 100lb barbell, push ups and sit ups.
@WeightGainNetwork I was drinking two muscle milk shakes at the time which was about 30g of protein and not a whole lot else. I eat okay but not fantastic. I'm basically doing calories in calories out and try to eat a diet high in meats and eggs but I'm not near 1.5g x 255. I'm barely eating 70g protein a day if that!
eat too much whey protein make you big and bulk , the best is only 1 scoop after workout that is.The purpose we want to build lean muscle mass not bulk muscle mass. Last time i use to eat 1 scoop before my workout and another 1 scoop after my workout, i feel i build more bulking muscle instead of lean muscle.
@vincent7125 I appreciate the comment...but I can't read it! I'm not trying to be mean man but...English isn't your first language is it? I'm trying to build bulk muscle. I have a lot of lean muscle already. I'm trying to build bulk muscle and lose fat. I'm just going to lose the fat first then build the muscle.
@TheNobleBard try this, i am 160 and 5'8. not big at all but very muscular. I taught a college wieght lifting class.
this is what you do for bulk. #1 do low reps of heavy wieghts. #2 make sure you eat a portion the size of a 6inch sub 4-6 times a day. Take protien too. Do that for 3 months.
The next 3 after that do normal reps of medium wieght (10x10). Eat the same if you wish. And constantly switch it up every few months.
@makeovermeplease Thanks but I'm still a bit heavy. Got a half a two pack though! Probably going to lose 15lbs more. Tighten up a bit. Thanks for the support though.
wow your fuckin cool trying make fun of me calling me a skinny weakling when you have absolutley no clue what my bodyfat composition is or anything. I hope you feel great talking down to people on youtube that are just trying to better themselves. BTW im 215 now you fagget people get bigger and develope throughout time you cunt
@guitarshredder42 dude ur 6'7 I dont understand how you weight 208! I am 6'3 and weight 280! and my weight should be 260 according to my doctor. I was just saying cuz man you obviously were very skinny if you only weighted that amount.
WTF? im an athlete playing university basketball at the post position.... Im not a fucking offensive lineman in football you retard.... I cant be a tub of lard that cant jump i need to be lean and be able to carry my weight.... For my position i need to be around 230 to have any physical presence
@scottfser I usually go to VitaminShoppe, but it really doesn't matter what protein you get. As long as you like the taste. Of course it shouldn't have a bunch of carbs in it. Most good tubs of protein have like 3 or 4 grams of carbs at the most.
@WeightGainNetwork If your goal is to gain weight and put on mass, why are you implying that carbs should not be part of the diet? Especially after a workout you'd need a 2:1 carb to protein ratio anyways and a 1.5:1:1 carb, protein, fat ratio during the day. Giving the impression that carbs should be cut out to these skinny guys trying to put on mass is the last thing they should have.
@vunkie Did I imply that carbs shouldn't be part of the diet? This video is just addressing the importance of PROTEIN specifically so that's probably why I didn't talk about carbs, But yeah of course you need carbs after your workout. Maybe I'll do another video called "Post Workout Nutrition".......
See I'm 14 in middle school and wanna get bigger for football I'm not small just not as big as I want but taking milk to school and letting it sit for 3 hours until I get to work out it would just make me sick so I asked my coach and he told me to drink it before you sleep because your muscle rebuild while you sleep so that is when the protein is needed is this true
@cooperobriant1 You could probably take a small cooler with ice packs to school with you and stick it in your locker. They sell small coolers like the size of a lunch box. That might be lame for a 14 year old to carry that around but maybe you can stick it in your backpack and just put it in your locker. And yes you should be getting a constant supply of protein throughout the day including right before bed. Your muscles do rebuild while you sleep and throughout the day.
@mushibat Yes, you could use eggs, but it's not the best for after your workout. But it's better than nothing! It's really best to have a liquid meal immediately after your workout to get nutrients absorbed in your body quickly. THEN eat a solid meal half hour to an hour later. Eggs would be better for this second post-workout meal.
Good informative video about protein intake after workout. You explanation is must consider factor about eating protein for building muscle at rapid rate.thank you for sharing:)
