  • My whole life is a Requiem.

  • @20lbsledge

Hadn't thought of it quite that way, but life does have it's ups and downs, doesn't it?

    Thanks for commenting. :)

  • i really love the concept of this piece

"This is a requiem for the quantum soul" is a great line, btw.

love love love when people combine other arts/philosophies/sciences etc into verse/poems etc :)

  • Thanks. The thought for this poem first came to me from a combination of things. I tend to read a lot of Stephen Hawking as well as watch some films of Brad Silberling (City of Angels, Moonlight Mile) so I kind of get inspired by that. And, then I read some philosopher's stuff (Socrates, Aristotle, Plato) and combine all those ideas together. Glad you found it interesting. :)

  • I read one of Stephen Hawking's books and it was fascinating. Have you read the Dalai Lamma's "Universe in an Atom" think that is the title. Love a lay person discussing science :)

  • I haven't read Dalai Lama's book yet. I have heard of it and I think one of the libraries in my city might have a copy so I'll be sure to look for it. I haven't had much time to read about physics and philosophy these days due to school among other things, but I plan to get back into the swing of things this holiday season. :)

  • That's really cool to think about! Kind of makes people step outside of themselves and see the world in a different point of view, even though we are individually only able to see the world from our own perspectives.

  • You're poem in the comments was pretty good, too! :)

That last stanza of your comment got me thinking, could all the universe and humanity be one and living these individual lives merely an illusion?

A little out there, yes, but it's a thought. :P

    Thanks for commenting. :)

  • I love the depth in how you see existence and reality in both fact and metaphor. We are each our own equation, compelled to levels of order that make us sentient and graceful and eventually balanced at both ends of the equal sign. Great work, Mary.

  • Thanks, Rick. :)

I think I tend to read about the facts first and then philosophize and see the metaphors after that. I think it also depends on what I get inspired by as well. :)

  • Awesome:)

  • Thanks. :)

  • I may need to make a beat for you to play in the backround, lol. I like very much!

  • Thanks! :)

  • I never really knew what Requiem meant, but your poem motivated me to look it up. I like how you combined space, time, and matter together. The last 5 lines is a great ending for that poem.

  • Thanks, Chris. I think I used requiem in an ironic way in this piece. While most requiems are about funerals and death and loss, I tried to make this one about rebirth, life and hope. Thanks for listening and commenting. :)

  • Life beyond the physical and a sense of hope in the act of taking responsibility for our own lives.

    I like!

    :-)

  • Thanks, Curt! :)

I guess you could say I'm reaching into the unknown or what could be or might be in this poem. I think taking responsibility for one's own life is important. I think it allows people to form a spiritual maturity, explore higher dimensions and beyond. :)

  • Yet another interesting way to look at life and death. It even seems to corelate to some of my own thoughts about this matter.

  • Thanks. Glad it provoked some thought. :)

  • Wow i love this--thanks HM, Do you have some music in mind for it?

  • Thanks, Gary! :) I don't have a particular tune in mind for this lyric write. I admit I'm not as good in the aspect of putting my words to music. :P

    Peace and love!

  • epic!

  • Thanks! :)
