  • best wing chun on youtube!

  • Totally make sense!! You sound like master Bruce!

  • Good point. Make a lot of sense. Thanks Jin!

  • lmao 3:31 you grabbed your balls when you said we have to have everything ready to go

  • what a jackass this guy is..please do not be taken in by this guy, he knows nothing about proper wing chun..just another scam like many others..SAD :(

  • very nice

  • Another miss informed jackass.....do you people use your brains.

  • I like the way you described that, well done

  • To ChinaBoxer. I have just recently started wing chun lessons with WT under the lineage of kieth r kernspect . after watching many of your videos on youtube i believe you to be a very good tutor. I would also like to find out more about you and am interested in knowing what grade you are? and how long have you been studying WC?? And if you dont mind me asking, why is it you felt drawn to WC over other martial arts out there? Also which organization are you with?? :) peace out dude.. thanks

  • Terrible chi sau. you have missed the whole concept behind chi sau

  • that man who who previously said about bruce lee and what he would have wanted well..you remind me of brice lee and his passion for martial arts and what you are doing is what very few people are not doing you teach properly and with passion just like bruce lee and share his depth of knowledge i seriously respect you as a person and really apprecite what you are doing and i thankyou so much for doing this your a great person thankyou.

  • good vid

  • Not bad explain ion but you guys gotta see the way Sifu Grados explain chi sau and how he applies is in real combat. Didn't at first understand when a few sifu's say it's all in the chi sau but now i do. Good chi sau leads to a good fighter if he knows how to applies it in a real street fight like Sifu Grados can. No disrespect to Chinaboxer i enjoy his videos and learn a lot form them too.

  • Very good explanation of why we do Chi Sau. Thanks for putting that out there.

  • yeah jin is the king explaining things while looking rly concentrated

  • Have you ever thought of releasing a set of DVDs? I've learned more from your you tube vids than any DVDs ive already bought.

  • thanks for the kind words, i will eventually put a DVD set out, i just have to somehow get the time and funds to get it done.

  • I look forward to you releasing a set...i will be first to purchase.

Is there an order I should watch your videos.

I am new to you tube so can i play them in order i should see them?

  • make sure to go to my website at thechinaboxer(dot)com and subscribe there.

then use the "search" tab at the top and type "where to start"

  • @chinaboxer Jin, in chain pinching, as I turn off the shoulder, I feel it alot in my chest, the energy goes from my shoulder to the pecs by pinning the shoulder. Is this ok? You seem to stress feeling it in the whole body, so am I missing something?

And, can you show us how to handle people who are strong, and who tense up their arms? We can do it with people that do not tense the arms, but what do we do when we detect tension in an ordinary punch? Like a street punch where there is no softness

  • You videos are very extensive..i like the way that you go into the intricate details...i would love to learn Wing Chun...somehow i love the whole philosophy behind it...but unfortunately i dont anyone in Delhi, India who teaches...BTW are you aware of someone..long shot i know...ne ways thanks a mil.....

  • JIn I live in Pasadena, and I am tyring to learn Wing Chun do you know any places where I can learn? I'm watching ur videos and master wongs video to get the basic sturcutres and its working but i want to learn more in a basic foundation

  • i would send you to Gary Lam's in Monterey Park, give his website a glance and go down there.

  • @chinaboxer google kickstarter and go on the first link, it will help you to get the funding you need.

  • What's the purpose of chi sao?

  • Watch the video.

  • it's nice to watch videos like these because they remind us of the true purpose behind each drill

  • thanks for that, take care and peace!

  • Jin,

You still training with Hawkins Cheung? You always welcome to come back and train with us at Sifu Gary's (Lam).

  • yea, but i miss training with everyone at Sifu Gary's. had to cut back on training due to lack of funds, this economy sucks. but once things pick back up, i'll be there for sure!

  • yeah man, i know the feeling... times are tough. my training classes have been cut dramatically, too. oh well, things will change! and when they do, we'll be changing along with 'em!

  • Jin: your videos are needed out here, there is so much crap on u tube. Your ratings say it all. The people know the real deal when they see it.

  • thanks for your kind words and your support. take care and peace!

  • Thank you - this and part two have been most instructive. From previous videos by you, Kwok and Boztepe I tried to understand the collapsible style and practise with my teacher. The 'three-stick' model with the forward motion, makes it so clear. Not got it yet but I have the model to work with. You are a superb instructor Sifu.

  • glad it's helping you out. take care and peace!

  • thanks for clearing chi sau for me i can now do it alot better

  • Sifu Jin, you never cease to amaze me. My sifu has often said the same thing time and time again. And that is, "When fighting, if someone want to hurt you then they first must be able to touch you. If they can touch you then you can touch them and it is at that moment where chi sao comes into play." Not many people seem to understand that concept. Most seem to think of chi sao as some unrealistic fantasy training. When I hear people say stuff like that, I know that they have no clue what WC is.

  • thanks for your kind words. keep practicing and keep growing. peace!

  • This is a good video on Chi-Sao but some people may not understand it because there are different stages of Chi-Sao training such as Don-Chi and Chi-Sao and Blind-folded Look-Sao and Chi-Sao training methods such as the blind-folded Bull in the ring method Combat Chi-Sao and proper understanding of Jing-Lik-Sao , Also proper understanding of the wedge and jamming energies of the Tan and the fook and Transciprocal and reciprocal energies , but your vid was good just needed more info. Peace

  • this isn't a video on "how" to do chi sau, this is a video on "why" you should do chi sau.

  • the video is called " Why Chi-Sao training is important ( basic concepts ) and I agree with your video, I'm just saying that the Idea of sensitivity is very important but may not be as ( basic of a concept ) as lets say the structure of a tan and how to give proper forward energy and why that structure as well as sensitivity is key . We do Chi-Sao to become sensitive to the static energy of an attacker in a vicious attack and to attain energy Listening Skills . No harm intended. Peace

  • Please don't miss understand I think your videos are great and that you are a good Sifu . I am a Sifu as well and I am just Chatting and Sharing with other Wing Chun Practitioners . I'm glad to see someone sticking to the principles of Wing Chun that Makes it what it is and so effective . Much respect and Success with training . Peace

  • Thanks for your comments, I only wish that you had something to really comment about , I have seen your videos and hum ??? Please don't miss understand me I am a Sifu as well and I think you are a good Sifu.Peace and much respect with your training

  • I would guess that before you would know if I have something to comment about we must first understand that you are qualified to understand what it is that you are looking at , and as far as my vids please understand that that which I speak on I very much so can perform and have done so in the streets not like some who only know controlled school settings and have never had a real combat situation with a real threat , But I respect your opinion as just that a Opinion, read the other comments ..

  • ow not motofox again... good video any way jin as always jin! keep it up!

  • thanks for your support. peace!

  • great stuff, and I totally agree with the fact that you need to be set and ready already when you make contact.

  • In a real fight, dont you have to be ready even before any contact occurs? Whats da point of getting ready as soon as you touch? Get real!

  • in a real fight, yea, you do have to be prepared before any contact, that's also a part of developing "listening skill" of a different nature and also a vast subject in itself. hmm..maybe a topic i can discuss in a future video. but come on, old man, you already knew my answer. -_o

  • i gave you a "thumbs up" for bringing up a good point, nice job and thanks! =D

oh..and i pinched myself to make sure that i was "real". -_o

  • I think these are two different things! YOU GET REAL! He's talking about structure. There's no way to know what structure you need UNTIL you make contact. The preparation you make before a fight is all mental; he was not talking about this. Why don't you try asking an intelligent question next time buddy.

  • mofotox...::akward silence::...

  • No response is the best response, to quote my favorite fake real martial artist movie star B L. Not worth my time. Beside, I don't like people trying to pretend what they are not. A Joshua tree aint bamboo and can't really 'yield'. On da contrary, da tree is quite prickly! Da bamboo dude is so uptight that......

  • Give it a rest you complete and utter waste of oxygen...

  • It's "what's THE point" you cretinous donkey fucker!

  • okay?

  • ...=P

  • Looking forward to more Jin excellent job!

  • thanks!

  • hi,if you dont mind...may i ask you a question?cuz my hand is shorter compare to my friend so is there any way i can use any wing chun technique to beat my friend in free sparring competition?is there anyway i can cover my weakness????

  • use good footwork and agility to swarm your opponent's space. Wing Chun is a close quarters in-fighting system, so pretty much all of its techniques will work at that point. If you get to close too fast the opponent will freeze, and you've also gone inside his range, making it harder for him to strike correctly

  • thanks...i will try...

  • no problem man! I have short limbs too... and a short body lol, so I have to deal with these problems as well. Just keep training!

  • A Tai Chi friend of mine has the same problem - extremely so, he suffers from chondrodystrophia aka pathological short growth. Whenever we do pushhands he comes as close as humanly possible. In VERY CLOSE range his short arms provide better leverage then my long arms, and he can manneuver them better. So your challenge would be to find a way to safely close the gap, and then apply Chi Sao and listening.

    Greetings

    silk

  • Ha! First to comment! ;-)))

Is there some form of Chi Sao Training combined with footwork? I imagine, that the crucial first contact in a fight (ring or street) is probably made not from a static position but while moving around. Also when you explained that every attack is an invitation for chi sao you did small steps. Is there a specifically designed training incorporating steps and chi sao?

AND: Great video as ever. You answer tons of questions I had for many years.

    Have a nice day.

    silk

  • good question. i'm working on footwork basics video which will help answer your question. take care and peace!

  • there is Chi-Sao training with footwork starting with Don Chi-Sao and the Chi-Sao .
