lol im playing this solo and its supposed to be a timpani mallet with that jingle stick lol and the snares turned off. there were a few spots where they rushed like at the shirly murpheys and when they went from the 32nd notes to cute time 16ths. but other than that i liked it lol its a hell of a fun solo to play
where your left hand in trad comes towards yourself when stroking. It very common to new people. I'd recommend making sure your palm is facing more towards the wall then the cealing, that should help
hey im in the reynoldsburg drumline and i need some advice about getting my left hand to stop slicing. we play traditional and i really need to fix this. any advice would help
how? I don't understand. I'm just sayin, there are bad drummers in drum corps. Not everyone has hands like Mike Bierck or Nick hayden or whoever. There are good and bad drummers in corps. I have actually marched so don't look at me like i don't know shit.
This guy is alright. Just has a few problems. Like we all do.
im pretty sure i played the entire solo.. in fact i added some things to it as well. but yea, looking back on this solo, i was pretty bad at the time. check out my krystal klear solo, that ones a little more recent
AFter 1:14, you cut out the orchestral part. There were a lot of ruffs and random ornament patterns. Maybe you didn't get a copy that had them, i dont know. My copy of the solo has that part in.
oh yea, i took that part out for this concert because most of the people in the crowd werent percussionists or anything. I did play the entire solo for S&E and took it to state though.
my friend and fellow drummer Zach played this his 10th grade year, I'm gonna play it later this year on Solo and Ensemble night, I think. Don't watch my videos, they were the first few times I ever drummed..ever...and are just here for archival purposes. Anyway, good solo, mate.
Ah something I forgot in my first comment. You should play to the crowd more. Play with different stances and angling yourself to make the audience cheer. They can't really tell anything from the rhythms being played, they go by stuff that looks good to them mostly. Also, your flam heights need checked. I still fight with that from time to time, but with the right amount of isolation, you'll be perfect. Once again, great solo man.
Nice solo there, had some cool licks. That snare head is Evans correct? I haven't seen any Kevlar Remo's that are that warm, perhaps it's just me lol.
You totally chopped up this solo, read the music correctly!

just practice in front of a mirror at an angle so you can see the left hand slice and alter your wrist motion. thats the best way i can think off.

Don't criticize him, he got offered to play in DCI.

What does that have to do with anything?
There are bad drummers that are in drum corps. Trust me.

That's the most idiotic thing I have ever heard.

It could just be the Pearl drum, they are naturally warm.
superdude1112 5 years ago
i'm pretty sure it was an evans head with a yamaha drum.
lilstinker06 4 years ago
That's definitely a Pearl drum, notice the feet and the fact that there's no large "YAMAHA" logo on the front. It could have Evans heads though.
