daylightrx is right. I remember reading in an interview with Smith around the time that the working method for this album was for him and Severin to drop acid, and then watch a load of horror movies, then write songs. (the very title, 'Blue Sunshine' is the title of a cult horror movie where various people get given a batch of bad LSD, named 'Blue Sunshine', and turn into homicidal maniacs.)
anyone is welcome to correct me if they think I'm wrong.... anyway, great track, great album.
Oh ! So Robert Smith and Steve Severin in the prime of their musical and pop star lives , never did drugs ... even though its well documented that they did the blue sunshine album on acid inbetween banshee , cure gigs , messing about with a top of the pops dancer ( who's probably suing for royalties given Smiths record for skanking ) ... The Cure were just a weak imatation of New Order ... but this album was very interesting ..
Joy Division / New Order same thing . No disrespect to the cure ; but they didnt invent the doom and gloom sound .. I mean the first Cure album is garage pop and then they went all Ian Curtis with a Southern English twist .. Inbetween Days is the best New Order song ever written ... The Walk is a Blue Monday clone ... Im not saying that the Cure didnt eventually find their own sound .. Bloodflowers I think nailed it as far as originality . I love this Glove album though . peace .
How is the cure an imitation of New Order? New Order is great. But their styles are so different. It is like saying that Metallica is an imitation of Black Sabbath or that Madonna is an imitation of Michael Jackson. What did The Cure do to you? Stop being so angry at them. They are just great.
@GaviaoGaviao New Order did Blue Monday and the Cure did The Walk. The obvious similarities are there. The war has continued ever since. I don't care about that anymore, I have grown up. Both bands were good!
This track has been with me for years .. The glove album just bends my mind , sure the cure are cool ; but Severin and Smith dropping acid and doing an album inbetween other bands ... man .. Im into music but blue sunshine is just the ultimate maximus ... peace .
there is a crisp clean copy on DVD... but the other Glove video 'Orgy AND Punish Me with Kisses ' is not on DVD and I've only ever seen it on here. I hope i saved it...
I agree wholeheartedly. And Siouxsie was a bitch to Robert near the end of his time with them. I do love the Banshees though, she just needed to be less of a bitch lol
haha I thought when I erased my profil the comments will be erased too ^^
I still cannot think of better thing to say than 2 weeks ago exept why oooh why they dont have a video of "Mouth to Mouth" and "And all around us the mermaids sang"?!!!!! :cries:
Take that Averil lavinge, Kanye west,Blink182,Nihcole Richey, and any american band or nonintitiy that makes the tabloids for being talentless. this is incredible. i rember going out and buying this on import in the south for $15.00 worth every fuckin peny. just makes me reflect the sad state of music theses days.
This was shown on UK TV in 1984, part of a series called Play At Home; various bands had an hour special where they could do what they wanted. Siouxsie And The Banshees staged their version of the Mad Hatter's Tea Party - all of them played Alice!
Never really consider the Glove to be that good an example of Robert Smith and Steven Severin but I have not heard this in years and it took me right back - must of stuck in there good
Listen to this song and say outloud the lyrics to Zyklon B Zombie by Throbbing Gristle. They don't go together at first but keep reading and listening; it fits.
Is that Johnny Lydon ( Rotten) in the begining? I Love this piece of music soo much. Somebody else had it up with much better quality. But I'm greatful to find it again. This song means so much to me and video, thanks.
robert and suz forever......

I believe The Cure and Siouxsie and the Banshees and all other music I like to be equal!

"Relax" & this one are the outstanding songs from the blue sunshine album.
Blues in a drag has something sad & soothing at the same time. Timeless tune for me.
Sev & Smith were a good combination back then.

They'd drop acid and watch "video nasties" as Steven put it.

Perhaps this is one of the best works of Robert Smith and Steven Severin ever.
It's just a shame we can find good works like this nowadays.
Miss the time.
