Brilliant piece. The beat always were my favorites out of all the early eighties ska bands due to there rhythm styles, brass input & general diversity of culture & sound.
Someone said something about an American "The Beat" ??? NOOO, Let me correct you... there is only one beat, "THE BEAT" and they are English and crazy cool fabulous!!! They had to call themselves "The English Beat" for American's to get them, understand? There is only one!! God bless... effing incredible band!!
1423stuart..you mean "Can't get used to losing You"..or " Tears of a Clown".both early singles and covers but seriously mate I still love this band they played moody hard tunes..
As has been said. Coventry, Birmingham, Wolverhampton ruled in the early 80's. It just shows how black and white influences coming together produce awesome music.
I was 19 when this came out and buzzing as a scooter skinhead o well we grow up? i will never forget the late 70s and earlly 80s what a joy that time was awesome
i absolutely LOVE YouTube. this week has been too much. david steele is a superb bassist, saxa is a tasty treat and the whole band (dave looks sting-ish here) is wonderful on this class tale of insecurity
Bob on this.

The best Beat song. What a starting line eh ? : "It's too late now it's twenty past two".
"I spent all night just watching you".
I still have these 7" and 12"s with no record player. What to do with them ?
