a very interesting way to view the film, it is very sad really, i do feel sorry for him, he shouldnt have been let out really, but then if those people hadnt fucked with him he's prob be okay.
I thought this was a brave attempt to keep the story fresh,and 100% better than what was to come with part 3,which was like a soft core porn with a story line,which is a DAMN shame cos it was directed by Perkins and who knows Norman better than him?.Its also a sin that Perkins seemed to spend the last years of his life making a string of erotic shockers,he still shined in them though and Im not for one minute ridiculing his talent.....just his rather odd choices.

Youre right,have you seen Bates Motel which I think came out in the late 80s or early 90s? it starred Bud Cort who if I remember correctly was a distant relative of Normans who inherits the motel when he becomes the last of the Bates bloodline,and it turns out that Mother is still kicking about!!!!! a DAMN difficult film to get a hold of on either VHS or DVD.still...it was probably CRAP but hey it would be good to have to complete the collection

Where the HELL! did I get the idea that he was Normans distant relative?looks like ive just pitched an idea for my own Psycho follow up.Its sad ,there was so much more to Perkins than just Bates and the questionable quickies that he made towards the end of his life,you just have to watch the likes of CATCH22 and THE TRIAL to see that this guy was a real talent.
It's an excellent film but it's not Oscar winning...
