Purity is important to any Christian, although this seems to be very very conservative. I think that the idea is right, but either way we still need to teach safe sex as well. It goes by many names including "purity balls" and "purity rings." The study came out around 2008 about this and not surprisingly concluded that girls who make these purity commitments are AS LIKELY to have sex as girls who don't make this purity commitment.
