Talking to one of the staff at Cromer some years ago, I asked if there is any situation in which they don't launch. I was told they will launch into a full - Hurricane (Force 12!) but that they can't re-house the boat in such weather and have to return instead to Great Yarmouth.
If anyone deserves our admiration (and support!) its The R.N.L.I. - God Bless you lads (and lassies) and thanks for all you do!
I saw her launch from the stern some years ago. It was funny really, all the crew were weighed down with all manner of life-saving gear and the Coxswain had on a fisherman's jersey! lol. It was awesome to watch and made me feel proud to be British! When I saw her, several of the crew were standing braced against the stern rails as she slid down the slip - has Health and safety stopped that now I wonder? thanks for posting. :-)
