  • It's the chink chink rhythm guitar sound I love of this tune. Fantastic.

  • saw this live concert stray gentlegiannt groundhogs greensplayhouse glasgow

still have the ticket £6.50 tony still regrets the moog

  • I was first introduced to TS Mc Phee back in 1972. The two sides album. TS was way ahead of his time. The Groundhogs have always been at the top of my list. Really like Earth Shanty from Hogwash. I have almost all of their albums on vinyl. Would love to see them come over to the US again. I thought I heard that they used to open for Humble Pie in the 70s.

  • The riff in this song sounds like 'Electric Funeral' by 'Black Sabbath'.

  • @tim0sp At first I thought you were talking rubbish but I think I know what you mean, about 2.30 into the BS song. Well spotted!

  • @ray123ification Exactly!

  • Ashamed to admit I'd never heard the Groundhogs. These guys are freaking awesome. Somehow familiar and yet somehow off in a world of their own.

  • my dad turned me onto the groundhogs when i was a child. if he was still alive to see them on here, or anywhere besides his own record collection, he would have been amazed. still have the vynal that was once his, but seeing them on here blows me away. check out also "bang" "sir lord baltimore" "blue cheer" and "Dust"

  • I Love You Miss Ogyny is still THE BEST! I think, anyway.

  • @Spambladders I know what you mean but it is so difficult to choose a favorite, I suppose, for me it's what ever one I am listening too... I think Earth Shanty takes some beating, then again so does Eccentric Man.

  • Wow! Does this bring back the memories. For those who love the "electronic" sound the Hogs brought in with this effort I highly recommend "The Hunt" from his solo album "The two sides of Tony McPhee". A brilliant and profound piece of progressive rock. A 19 minute plus effort that is simply staggering.

  • Listening to this is like a trip without a tab !! I feel so privileged to have been there first time around and still here to experience it again !! Remarkable , just remarkable music !!

  • Always cool to dig the Groundhogs.

  • Omg, I didn't know anyone even remembered the Mighty Groundhogs. I still remember every note of that song...Also lost the album to a friend, they were hard to find in 1982. I will pass this on to my next generation hippie, 13-year old son.

  • groundhogs r da dogz bollox

  • Is this the greatest piece of music ever ?

  • Yes

  • Not sure if this is the greatest or not but what I do know that it can only be bettered by another Groundhog song... Strange Town...3744...Junkman...BDD....etc

  • It soitnly is, friend

  • Well not exactly a cheerful lyric, but great playing -- a 'concept' prog tune par excellence.

  • Groundhogs are still my absolute favorite band and memories stretching to my very early teens bumps like bombs upon me finding this on YouTube. Thank you very much ELGROVER from Gomer

  • You're welcome ☺ enjoy! ;-j

  • brilliant number

  • I'm in Hog heaven.......thanks again!

  • Epic music and album concept........the album cover and gatefold is super unique, almost as unique as the music....Groundhogs 4ever!

  • Not heard this since 30 years... yet can still remember sing and desk-drum along to it.

Sure sign of a rock classic.

  • I think the GroundHogs are pretty Mighty.

  • What a stunning mix of peotry and great music. Love it!!

  • I agree with the last 2 comments and shure with most of all others:

    A BIGBANG ALBUM!

I bought this first in 1974, lost it in 1982, and bought it again in February 2009 on ebay. Shurely on Vinyl! Thats life and a long story.

    Thats Music at its BEST!

  • An absolute stunner of a song, the Groundhogs at their best. The guitar-Mellotron duel is unparalleled.

  • In the top ten albums of all time, has to be.

  • Reminicent of Captain Beefheart, to me. One of my hippie friends turned me on to this a while ago. Glad to see that it made it to the 'Tube. This is my favorite track from the album. Thanks to ELGROOVER for posting this tasty little dish. Rock on, my Brother!!!

  • Then I love you too.

    Good stuff is good stuff.

    Always will be, dear friend!

    xxx

    Chris

  • Cheers, you're welcome ☺ keep on keeping on...

  • Love the great guitar phrase at the start.

  • My favourite of all time m8

  • My favourite too! One of my most favourite songs of all time. Perfect

  • That's perhaps my favorite song on that album. It's spacey, yet it jumps at you demanding full attention!

  • Such is the might of the Groundhogs!! ☺ !!
