Stop using money and learn how to barter. A 2-3 year Amish vacation will have the elite's drinking out of their swimming pools and hiding in ther panic rooms.
I used to work at the produce department at a grocery store, and I can tell you: those Tropicana Organge Juice cartons used to ALWAYS be 64 ounces. That is scary...
I am not convinced by the Doritos argument. Settling takes place in transport and so there will be air in the bag anyway. The only way of comparing would be to take the before and after weight of the product.
The trend towards smaller sizes appears to be world wide. At the moment of decision at the supermarket, shoppers do not realise and this is a way of cutting down on cost for manufacturers and processors.
One excuse is that it is reducing the portion size (I don't buy that one of course).
Clearly the devaluation of the USD against EUR will have had some effect but only on goods imported from Europe. It will have had no effect on goods imported which are quoted in USD.
Hyperinflation is "a cumulative inflation rate over three years approaching 100% (26% per annum compounded for three years in a row)", to Cagan's (1956) "inflation exceeding 50% a month."
on tuna, I noticed more squishy sound, but didn't realize can reduced 1 oz; thanks!
also on pasta, used to always get 16 oz, which is one pound; but now the ounces range and you can't tell by the price how much you are getting, gotta read labels and check unit prices!!
That sort of thing is happening everywhere. Here in Ontario Canada, coffee recently went from $4.99 for a 925 g can (it used to be 1 kg, but they gradually lowered the amount) to $10.99 for a 925 g can, pretty much overnight.
About 3 years ago, I started noticing that the prices of groceries would go up about 30¢ in one week. I was living alone at the time, and it got to the point where there were some things I just had to do without because I couldn't afford them.
i noticed this months ago. thanks for bringing this into the spot light George!
i've stocked up on many things i eat daily: rice, cereal, canned beans, chocolate, olive oil, wine, tequila, honey, etc. oh, and 12 gauge shot gun rounds; have a nice day :))
Ok here is what I do to save big Bucks $ on Food. All I buy is Ramein Noodles about 29 cents a pack. Yep that's right all I eat cheap ass Ramein Noodles. I like the Shrimp the best. Now there isn't a lot of nutrition so I get those cheap ass vitamins at the Dollars Store. Those vitamins will give you the nutrients. Then for Fiber I grind up Banana peels I get for free from the health food store. I promise you eat this and you will be regular every damn day.
Great, interesting video. I have noticed similar situations myself. Although I have to admit I don't pay much attention, but I certainly notice it and feel and see it in the price vs. how long my food lasts... Just picked up a bag of Doritos, that is total BS... but that has been that way for a while now. one comment, you say fluid ounces, and your buddy said Full ounces... had to point that out! LOL
A needle in a hay sack: a smart educated (probably self-educated) american doing his duty as a patriotic citizen by re-educating the dumbed down masses. Keep it up!
If you cannot drive to where you food is grown, if you are not within 3 steps of money exchange from grower, then you are not helping solve the problems. ORDER ORGANIC FROM LOCAL FARMERS, get your fruit juices from the fruit. STOP GIVING YOUR MONEY AND HEALTH TO TOXIC FARMERS AND CORPORATIONS THAT WANT TO KILL YOU AND TAKE YOUR MONEY TIME AND ENERGY!
@a10fjet Not funny, cause it would likely work. It wouldn't take long for the situation to become "normalized". Goebbels couldn't have dreamed this shit up. People underestimate the brilliance of what is upon us, Brilliantly maniacal that is. And with a complicit public to boot. Done in by their very own clapping hands. Who cares? There's a new episode of Charmed coming out. We can watch it and get our nosh on on some of those COOL new individually wrapped enhanced Doritos. HMMMMmm!.
@a10fjet Fuel prices in the US are one half to one third what we have to pay in Europe! You should be very grateful you pay so little! Petrol (gasoline) is around USD2 a litre in most of Europe, that is about seven dollars per US gallon!
I bought a bag of Popchips on sale for $2. Usually around $2.39-2.79. I opened the bag and it was practically empty. Looked at the label and it was 3 oz. not the usual 5 oz. bag.
Good demo Gerorge. I've noticed other containers being smaller or holding less in them. One big one for me is coffee. The one pound and three pound coffee can no longer exist. One pound is 16 oz. Now the container holds 10 oz. at a higher price.
Yes, the product packaging has decreasing along with cereal from stores such as costco's and sams club. What a ripoff. We pay wayyy more, and get so little. When will we stand up & do a protest?
Cereal boxes have been getting smaller for the past few years. Compare a roll of TP from this year to last year and you will see that the width of the roll is shorter. Here's another one, a pool water noodle bought today will be shorter and smaller in diameter than one bought 2 years ago. Soap bars are smaller and do not last as long as they used to. The price increases cannot be hidden in the product for much longer.
@george4vlogging I have an old A&W Root Beer can sitting in my shop from back in the way that is actually much larger than any cans today. It says 12floz, but the can circumference is larger.
@itubeutude Tom Brokaw had a segment on his nightly news show called "the fleecing of America" He was one of the first to point this out to consumers way back when. Your right, they have been doing this for some time now but when I see a paper pill size cup of ice cream in the freezer section of my grocery store for $2.79, well it's just too obvious.
It's called Value Deflation (from Zerohedge). The value of your products or services is reduced or lower than before and the costs is the same or more. I saw this happening 14 months ago in my favorite products. This is a way to hide inflation for one and to continue people buying your product by hiding the cost. They are doing everything they can to keep the appearance of normalcy. By hook or by crook they are doing it and it's crazy.
No, the prices are increasing here in Europe as well. We don't use dollars. Food inflation in China is even worse. Part of it is probably QE but there is more at work here. Don't oversimplify this.
Are you clueless? What? You are going to have a Tuna farm... Grow Avocados and oranges? And own cattle and potatoes? Do you know how much land the typical american is living on??
@MahaNomi I can just imagine the headlines in a few years time - The lettuce grower "MahaNomi" who publicly confessed on the internet to the federal crime of growing organic lettuce lost his stay of execution last night. The lead prosecutor stated " Justice was served tonight and it should be a lesson to others, he grow lettuce - but there were traces of radishes and even tomatoes - its our job to keep health food off the streets and keep the public safe, we can all sleep safer as a result.
@MahaNomi Nice one. Take care and enjoy your lettuce. There may be no headline in a few years time, and I think most Americans will soon be hurting but with your frame of mind you will be OK. I got fed up with everything and I moved to Philippines, I have a lot of land, cost of living is very cheap, I know people that don't even know Obama became president living in their own little world away from it all. It a better way of living than the rat race.
i remember coming home from school & opening a can of tuna & being able to feed my brothers as well as myself, now U only give about 1or sometimes 2 sandwiches then there is no more.
The real concern is not as much that prices are rising, but the deceit businesses employ to keep you thinking you're still getting the same value. That's called misrepresentation, false witness, otherwise known as lying.

another trick is the two for one deal with a price that has now doubled.
Condition you to pay twice as much as what you paid before. Scam-o-rama Bullshit!
what used to be 2 for $3.99 is now 2 for $6.99. And when the sale is over?
It's 1 for $6.99! This kind of mind bend crap completely blasts the old price from your memory.
