  • Funny how all the timing is off and absolutely no foot/leg movement when the pedal needs to be used...very suspicious...

  • Wow...sorry this is just bad. Try dropping to C#, sounds much better. Imitation is the best form of flattery...but only to a point. Forget it...better off just playing something on your own.

  • Pretty close replica, but not the 25k Fender one. A few ways to tell: The last neck that Eddie had and what they used for the replica is only 21 frets. Also, there is dirty masking tape to the right of the pickguard. Slag's has 22 frets and no tape.

  • tuning?

  • Nice.

  • where did you get the reflectors for the guitar

  • what amp where you using in this ?

  • Comment removed

  • Thinking about doing one of these frankensteins myself just need to know how to get started. What guitar is preferred for it and the pickups I know the rest

  • @Sean2592 use an ash Fender body and neck, a floyd rose bridge, then a gibson 57 if you can for the bridge pickup, the neck pickup is a fake one, so when i built mine, i used a squire one. the only hard part is the paint really, so get to to it!

  • @germanygibson i don't really have time for that kind of thing. i'm a construction worker that works out of state so i just need a guitar to buy any advice there?

  • @Sean2592 a try a "Charvel", they make EVH models

  • @germanygibson you got anything with a smaller nick i can't do the c neck man i have the stubby ass fingers like Dimebag or Dave Mustaine

  • @Sean2592 try a yamaha rgx312

  • Eh...

  • That was great~ love the flange.

  • Shit this is an ....unaffordable guitar

  • @RtasVadumeeKostas Funny how much money peeps pay for a "replica"...who gives a crap? Make your own guitar for half that price and be happy with it. Maybe I'm wrong here but I thought this song was dropped C# not D. Well, that's how I learned it and sounds better I think. Have fun!

  • @DickLodge68 It is, but being as Ed tunes to Eb, you play in a D position. So in turn the drop D is really a Db note.

  • @TheMadMusicMan Don't be a smart-ass. It doesn't matter what key you or "Ed" tunes in... C# is still the same...any note is still the same note, regardless where you choose to play it.

  • @DickLodge68 Calm down you fool. The fact of the matter is, he is playing in the key of Db, but the position on the guitar is Drop D. He's not playing in D as far as pitch is concered. Therefore when you claim "it sounds better to play in C#" you make no sense as he is in C#. I have perfect pitch and can hear from the start that he is in Db. So go play around with your boyfriend!

  • @TheMadMusicMan You may have perfect pitch but I guess you never learned or realized that C# is D flat ???? So who's the fool?

  • @DickLodge68 I understand that C# is Db, just as Gb is F#. You claimed that he was playing this song in the key of D, but that it sounds better in C# or Db. Well, he is playing in Db or C#. So try again son.

  • @TheMadMusicMan Hey, "son", put the bong down. I never said that. Here's my original post : "Funny how much money peeps pay for a "replica"...who gives a crap? Make your own guitar for half that price and be happy with it. Maybe I'm wrong here but I thought this song was dropped C# not D. Well, that's how I learned it and sounds better I think. Have fun!"

Just go away already! Give it up...we both know it's in dropped C#/Db. It's the others that should know.

    DickLodge68

  • @DickLodge68 What a buffoon you are. You claim in the second to last sentence that "the song in drop C#, not D." Unless you are a complete clown, that sentence would imply that "Jimmy" is playing in Drop D. I just get a kick out of annoying you. Have fun with your sweetie tonight!

  • That.. is one sweet guitar :D

  • Guitar hero!

  • In response to the people who say Rany Rhodes is a better guitarist...whatever! Everybody is entitled to their opinion. However, saying that Eddie Van Halen did nothing for guitar is just stupid and they know nothing about the history of the importance of Eddie Van Halens contibutions to music...(the d tuner, introduction of the Floyd Rose tremelo etc.) Then somebody says that RR mixed classical with metal.....have you ever heard the Van Halen songs,"Cathederal" or even "Spanish Fly?"

  • @joka352 I think both of them were the 2 main figures in changing how the guitar was played, Eddie was rock and Randy was Metal, They both really opened the doors for those 2 styles of playing. Ofcourse Rock and Metal was around before but Eddie and Randy took things to the extreme and blew everyone else out of the water.,

Anyone trying to compare the 2 is a total noob idiot.

  • Is that the actual Fender replica? If it isn't I can't tell! Great playing, sir.

  • How did you get that tone? What amp and effects are you using? Nice job by the way! I'm lovin the guitar to man!

  • Rockin man and smooth tone!

  • well done dude!!

  • GREAT FUCKIN' TONE BRO

  • hey

    great cover

could u please tell me your settings on amp??

  • Tuning? Who cares. Grab yer wood and play!

  • What tuning is this in?

  • @dimeowns100 Dropped some strings Check out the lesson. Link on this page. drop low E to D at least. I'm too drunk to listen to my master after a binge session. Got that from Ed, too...

  • @dimeowns100 half step down and drop D

  • @Pepper2Jason Sweet, so drop Db or C#, thanks mate :D

  • Nice guitar! Just let the power of Halen flow through your veins........let it move your soul

  • learn to alternate pick. you will learn to love the world

  • dude i would so love to know what pedals and gear you use to get that authentic van halen sound!!!!!!

  • lol -- one knob... labeled tone.

  • Comment removed

  • Very precise and awesome tone....excellent

  • That's not one of the 25 grand models? Wow. It's an exact replica in every way.

  • great tone man. sounds just like ed. and what pedal are you using during the intro? is a phaser or something?

  • @taterfamine I'm using the same vintage (non led) mxr flanger Ed used.

  • @slag5150 MXR kills. I have the analog chorus and phase 90. Beasting tone....

  • @taterfamine I'm selling this guitar if anyone is interested! Ping me if so, slag.

  • @slag5150

is it the official expensive one

  • @slag5150 How much for the guitar?

  • @slag5150 price?

  • DUDE WHERE DID YOU GET THAT GUITAR????

  • Sounds great!

  • His guitar is a replica of the replica of the replica.

  • How did u afford to spend 25000 on that guitar?

  • Nice! I love the axe too! Did you make that yourself? I made a Frankie copy in high school out of a Squire Bullet, hardly worth it, but I was pretty happy with the turnout, you've done much better. I didn't know about the back of the guitar so I just put a white stripe like the Diver Down cover across it.

  • i want one of the charvel evh guitars there about $1,000

  • did u really spend 25,000 for the replica frankenstrat

  • it was played a lil to slow and felt a lil stiff, other than that it was perfect

  • I would say the same...just pick up the tempo a hair. Otherwise sounds like you got the notes down right and in their right places

  • Sounds great andd the gitar is a star but the best VH impersonator is a dude named SATCHBOOGY. Check his shit out. He has the nicest guitars, too. Again though, u kicked the shit outta that.

  • dude where did you buy your guitar?

  • I dont know why people say you suck , note wise you got it 99%

  • FANTASTIC!!!!! I saw Van Halen Live at the the Monsters Of Rock concert in the 80's. You Brought back good memories!

  • Best riff ever written!!!Great job Dude:))))

  • great tone-good stuff-you should be proud-

  • hey jimmy What kind of humbucker in them fankenstein guitar made by fender, because im making my frankenstein guitar thanks for any help you guys can give me thanks again reedo.

  • great sound!

  • very cool and nice flange.

  • Nice job man! And killer attention to detail on the Frankie! Please check out my version of Unchained - I'd be interested to know what you think. I found a backing track with bass/drum/vocals, so all the guitar is me :) =VH= forever!

  • Nice tone. Great playing. Beautiful guitar.

    Regards.

  • Top Jimmy.

  • Sad really...for the people WHO claim to be aspiring guitarist...Face it music is music, put it down, record it and quit the hating ! The people will let y'all know when your good ! God bless all these HATE MONGERS...Do you ever hear HATE in any good muscians talent ? Nope, they just want to SHARE thier ability to express ones'self ! Get a grip...Who really is after you people ??? Inner Demons, I guess, sad.

  • i love randy rhoads but eddie van halen is twice as good

  • nice close-up of the crotch at the end man :/ ....

  • why can't we just accept that both of em are great? Van Halen is amazing and so is Rhoads and MrMario both of them used finger tapping

  • sweet guitar, dude.

I love that tone. How much did you pay for something like that? It goes for like $25,000 on Guitar Center.

  • you can buy paint kits and paint any strat style body and make it look like eddies guitar

  • thats not really what i meant.

i meant for that classic evh tone. Anyone can paint a guitar with stripes on it.

Only certain types of guitars carry those pickups.

  • You can also make cavities for certain pickups too. I did it with a precision bass to make a precision/musicman pickup combo

  • maybe he's using a gibson humbucker in it like eddie did?

  • You Have no idea what i would give for that guitar

  • Just to get into the YouTube spirit ---

You all don't know shit about music. You're (sorry, your) all a bunch of shit for brains. I wish I could have (sorry, of) seen VH in, like, 1982. They were one of the best bands (sorry, band's) around.

  • well that piece of "shat" is estimated to sell for well over 1 million dollars if he ever decided to sell the original. so it must be something good.

  • Randy Rhoads bought his guitar. Eddie Van Halen made his own guitar. EVH is a resourceful man who makes his own insturments! Is there a Randy Rhoads brand guitars? NO!

  • Eddy didn't make shit you cum bubble... he used part's... and truck reflectors and spray paint. He's body cost 80$ from the junk bin at charvel guitars and the neck 50 $.. you should stick to hendrix and never mind about EVH and yes there is R.R brand guitars all over the place at jackson dealers and his famous V gets build all the time :) There all custom made nevertheless. practice your fagatron tapping and leave RR to me :)

  • Comment removed

  • you can suck all by yourself...

  • Xavier: Randy played Quiet Riot 1 with at black Les Paul copy. He was so good that when they did QR #2 the producers bought the creme colored Les Paul for him. Then the black polka dot V was built by luthier Karl Sandoval, then the first white shark V by Jackson, the rest is history. Rhoads was 100 times more talented and humble than this egomaniac Eddie (sloppy ) Van Hardon.

  • Helmuth I think your last name speaks volumes for you, hows it working out for you so far ? Good, I thought so...Calling Eddie sloppy is a disgrace to all musicians.. At least you covered a bit of Eddies talent's in your futile attempt at calling hin HARD ! He played very hard..Funny I haven't heard your musical acknowledgements or achievments in Rock history ? Other than knowing what someone else claimed their fame on ! Idiot !

  • MrMario, Thats big talk for someone who has No Videos, No subscribers and no friends and I'm not just talking about youtube!

  • In response to the dickhead who thinks the RR polka-dot guitar is more famous than EVs "Frankenstein." You sir,are a douche! Its an original piece of art work.Polka dot guitars were around before Randy Rhodes was an itch in his daddys pants....check out Buddy Guys guitars.I have nothing but the utmost respect for the late Mr.Rhodes and his work. They are both great guitarists.

  • @joka352 the RR polka-dot is more famous then this... and thats ofcourse because RR was a much better guitarrist then Van Halen im not saying VH sucks RR is just in a different league...

  • @iggvf well atleast van halen isnt dead. i love them both but still.

  • @darthhull85 that has nothing to do with how famous the polka dot is... and he was still a better guitarrist then VH...

  • @iggvf Randy didnt change rock guitar forever like van halen. sorry.

  • @darthhull85 uhmm yes he did... he was one of the first (if not the first) to mix classic with heavy metal and he have inspired many bands/people you wanna explain what VH did to the guitar?

  • @iggvf well for starters he made tapping what it is today. yeah. thats alot of work, because so many people tap now and it was all him. he didnt invent it. he just made it popular

  • @darthhull85 ok you are right i forgot about that but i dont believe he changed how the guitar is today more then randy...

  • @darthhull85 but then again he just made it popular that would eventuelly come... sry for the english hope you understand what i mean...

  • @iggvf i understand it. nobody before him did it like he did though.

  • @darthhull85 shouldnt we just agree that they are both awesome in their own way and no one 2day can compare to them...

  • @iggvf yes. i can do that because i love them both. i just prefer van halen

  • @joka352 the polka dot V is just a paint job, eddies homemade frankenstein was a whole lot more than a cool red black and white paint job.

  • @FenderBenderXP If you read what I wrote, you would see that I agree....'Frankenstein" was more than a guitar with a cool paint job. As far as limited editions....I would still pick the Fender EVH over the new Randy Rhodes "Concorde" model that was just released.I was just saying that if ANYBODY thinks RRs guitar is more famous than EVHs guitar....well,thats just stupid!

  • @joka352 Well, i would disagree. You see Jackson RR guitars in almost every guitar store all over the world and a ton of other bands guitarists use RR shape guitars... i havent seen a lot of EVH guitars with any other guitarist than Eddie himself and the other guitarist of Angra... I dont see why EVH guitars would be more famous than RR models.. though they are a lot more cooler than RRs :D

  • @joka352 ok man but its Randy Rhoads and thank you for the info

  • mrmario r u kidding me evh is one of the greatist guitar players that ever lived and ur calling him a drunken washed bafoon if u believe wat u said then u r a retarted peice of shit

  • agreed

Eddie was just tired of always being drunk or high on drugs & now he sobered up & out on tour kickin' ass like he always does

Badass cover & song btw bro.

  • did u make the replica or is one of the 300??

  • sorry to dis agree bro but i'm no panzie i play randy and evh love um both i have say i do all randys shit if you understand music its not that hard at all evh shit is just difficult himself yes he had sme bad drinking problems nowadays but its wat he did on the guitar thats that counts wizardry if you ask me randy was great to and he even said him self that eddie was excellent randy got tapping ideas off eddie so in a way eddie even inspired randy so dont go givin people negavtive ideas on him

  • fuck you

  • It's not the actual replica. Lack of cig burns, no tape on the bottom horn, no glue residue from putting on the reflectors...

An awesome homemade though! I'd buy that on for 1 or 2 K!

  • dude if u dont have a D-tuna its not a full replica

  • I don't know...he has to be a skilled builder to have made that one...looks exact to the 25K replica, paint stripes and all...

  • that 'piece of shit' sounds great.Probably the same as that 25K guitar, wich is overpriced.

  • @LaurensVandoorne its 25 grand cuz it takes for fucking ever to make the guitar cuz they have to make everything exactly right. well its also 25 grand cuz fenders are always overpriced. it shud be a fair 13 grand

  • @frankenstrat25 not to stir any pot here, but the fender had a lot wrong with it. the reason its 25k is because ed doesn't like to be fucked around with, so he knew people would buy it, and not be able to sell it for a profit.

  • @DEUCHONMANDIC thats true. ed got different. after his blowout wit sammy. i still love him to death. hes just a dick

  • @LaurensVandoorne its not over priced they are handmade and they use probably up 100 hours to make them 100% look alike

  • stfu you jealous bastard.

  • Is this dude in a VH cover band? If he isn't he definately should be!

  • Agreed, there are better guitars for 25000,but at least this guy knows how to play what he bought.

Unlike alot of ppl/posers out there

  • that was an awsome cover and guitar

  • I like the guitar but I wouldn't spend $25,000. on that guitar. pretty good not the best.

  • wat are those circles on the back??

and cool guitar, but the bad thing is u cant rlly go on stage with it or ppl will think "oh...another van halen wanna be"

  • the circles on the back r reflectors eddie van halen used them when he was on stage because it made a cool reflection

  • the things on the back are refecters

  • Nail it baby boy! Back in the day I could never figure out what was going on in the "fast city address" part. the wird time and voicing. You have it down.

  • timing is off but still good.

  • It makes me proud to know guitar players like Jim. You have alot of heart man!

  • no its not the replica. the replica's are meant to look worn down after 30 years of eddie playing it... plus it comes with the pick holder on the front of the guitar and as you can clearly see, its missing. its fake.

  • Comment removed

  • Awesome

  • is that a real fender frankie??

I love that song it's awesome!

It looks awesome no matter what!

  • hey im srry i said that was fake it 100% real

  • Comment removed

  • hey guys this is my favorite VH song!!!! who agrees???

  • me !

  • i wanna learn that!!

  • actually never mind, srry!!!

  • NICE JOB.

  • Which flanger do you use and what settings?

(u use propably the MXR evh flange with the evh button, but can you tell me what are the settings when you turn the buton on?) I own a flanger myself but not the evh model, a boss bf-2, and i would like to play this song)

  • its a phaser not a flanger

  • no it is a flanger, a flanger has a more swooshing sound and a phaser is more subtle and... phasy.

  • No man, It´s a Flanger. Eddie uses Phaser for other songs like Ai´nt talkin ´bout love.

  • he uses a flanger in aint talkin bout love

  • The tones that EVH got on that classic record are among the greatest ever, and a huge part of Eddies guitar sound has always been the MXR Phase 90. The Phase 90 contributed to the unbelievable tones on "Eruption," "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love," "On Fire," and "Atomic Punk," plus many other timeless Van Halen tracks.

  • why have you told me something i already know. he also used a flanger, did you know that?

  • You're right, but in this song (unchained), he uses an MXR Flanger. It's the same tool he uses on And the Cradle will Rock...

  • Thanks EddieIsKing2009. I´ve got a little bit of reason.

  • he said in an interview online that on and the cradle will rock, he plugged his keyboard into his marshall and pedalboard. that is the distorted "guitar" sound. if you listen real closely you will hear that. also to get the sound at the beginning and breaks in the song, he hit the lowest key with flanger on.

  • A flanger was used in the "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love"'s intro, while a '70's MXR Phase 90 phaser was punched in during the solo.

This same phaser is also oheard in the solo's of many other VH songs off that album. It was also used in the intro of Atomic Punk.

  • No actually he uses a phase 90 in that song. He also uses it from the tapping part on in eruption.

  • Gotta agree with u cuz i play guitar and i use flange for unchained and phaser for Ain't talkin' 'bout love

  • yeah he uses a flanger on Ain't Talkin Bout Love. there's a phaser during the solo, but he uses the flanger for everthing else

  • Jimmy great playing and great tone love the guitar if it is a replica or not. Any man that would spend $25.000 on a guitar is a jackass Eddie made Frankie for $300.00 or so.And Fender is over rated with a BIG NAME! Just check out there web sight you cant buy a Fender with a good Floyd Rose. Eddie cant stand Fender and just did it for the money. So Jimmy you keep playing what ever it is your playing because You make it sound good.

  • true

  • TitanAE2008 for your info Eddie VH did not like a 24 fret neck and only had 1 or 2 with that one i can think of was a Kramer with a Gibson Explorear neck . And the pick tape was not on the lower horn at all times. so go and do your homework before posting such comments.

  • Nice fake replica u got there! Frankie never had 22 Frets and there is no roll of tape for picks on the lower horn. Just 2 of the many differences that I can see. Pretty cool that it looks like that tho! Nice tone too! Keep rockin but it ain't the Fender 25k version.

  • the original frankenstrat was made for 200 dollars the most, more like 150. Charging 25,000 for a replica is ridiculous, anyone who buys that is probably a rich collector and not a player.

If someone wants a frankenstrat bad enough the best way is to make your own.

  • I agree 25k is crazy. But if the person makes 75k one day off it I guess to him it is a win. I like the D-Tuna mod on yours. Keep on Rockin' the VH stuff! :)

  • lol I don't have a D-tuna on mine, would love to have one though.

  • Thats for damn sure i read reviewws and i heard it wasnt that good of a guitar

  • jealousy knows no bounds I guess.

awesome guitar and keep rockin man!

  • van halen is the shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit nice try dude

  • Damn... Arent those replicas $25000? Thats ridiculous... Amazing but ridiculous.. Nice playing too

  • Replica. Thousands of EVH Frankie Replicas are floating around. You can make one for under $1000. Paint and All.

  • absolutely awsome man!!!

  • is that a orginal replica? is it yours?
