  • I think you may have just saved me from a lot of embaresment!! I'm starting to get into foundation and I've been having trouble testing it. Thank you so much!!!!!!

  • Hi, thanks so much! I didn't know you could return drugstore makeup! How many different shades does mac have for foundation? Can I ask someone at a mac store to match me? And do they give samples that I can take home to try at mac? Sorry if I sound stupid, but I actually have no idea :p

  • hiii i have a unique skintone i am white but i have gold or light light olive undertones and i tan alot in the summer i know i have gold undertones and i can wear alot of different shades from light 2 medium 4 me all different brands alot of these brands vary in shades and its hard 2 find a match usually what i do if its too dark put a powder shade lighter 2 set it cos it will blend with it and lighten it up:)

  • Omg thank you so much for that tip. I did Not know, we could take our make up products back to the drug store if we didn't like them. Omg, all the money I could have been saving... Thank uuu.

  • YOU HAVE JUST HELPED ME THANK YOU

  • what can i use to minimize open pores on my cheeks plus what can i use to minimize the oil on my t-zone an cheek area?

  • Sister thank you for making these videos. I recently changed from bare essentials to make up forever. I'm using HD 178 and it was perfect in the store but as the day wears on my complexion looks muddy. I can't afford to buy another foundation, what can i do to lighten my HD? I also have the DUO MAT compact in shade 216. I can use it alone with my bare esscentials warmth over top, but when I wear it with HD 178, again it's too dark. Anything I can do with the purchases I have $ is tight!

  • Mac and Clinique(studio fix foundation) are the only foundations that I Know of that match my skin complexion. The disadvantage of these foundations is that they make my skin very oily. I try to get foundations from somewhere else, but they don't carry or rarely have products for girls my complexion. It's either too light or too dark.

  • Thank you for the informative tips on selecting foundation. Can you share any info on Mac cover up for under the eyes??? May GOD continue to bless you for all that you do.

  • Dezi - can you mix different brands of foundation (i.e. using Black Radiance foundation with Maybelline) to come up with a color match? Or would you recommend sticking within the same makeup line?

  • Thanks for the useful information about foundations!

  • Great video. I have always had problems matching foundation, I will definitely try your method.

  • Great info- I have been matched by MAC makeup artists from everything to C7 down to NC43..bottom line I have a golden/orange complexion. I would walk away from the MAC counter thinking I looked good and the sun light would say "GIRL BYE" to the color. I gave up on all foundations and would just use the blot powder. I might just try again with the info you gave.

  • thanks for a great vid with lots of information. your hair is beautiful :)

  • nice hair.. also thank's for the info

  • You seem like such a nice person

  • Is that a wig you're wearing?

  • so confused!!!! im gonna get it though!!

  • thank you!! For many years I have tried to find the right shade of makeup. All of your videos are very helpful. Keep up the good work. Also, I like you hair. Could you tell me if it is a wig which one? Thanks again.

  • thnk you for that last bit about being able to take back your foundation. i've always worried about that so i've tried to avoid buying certain things.

you were very helpful :] thnks a lot!!

  • Wow, I really enjoyed your video! :) I learned a lot, thanks! :) And I like the room decor as well!

  • Thanks Dezi... some people don't know that drugstores have that policy regarding makeup. Actually, I'd forgotten about it until I heard you mention in your video. Its a great way to experiment with what works for your(as in our individual) skin tone/complexion vs. what doesn't work for us. I don't want folks staring with that "she's wearing makeup... UMM "look". I like for'em to stare n' try'n figure out whether I am or NOT or if I rolled outta bed look'n FABU-LOUS! Uhh, I promise I DID NOT! lol

  • Thank you!! This is great

  • you look so pretty

  • Your hair looks pretty. :]

I went to MAC before and someone gave me an NC40 [way too dark!?] It was way too yellow and I went back and another woman gave me an NC35. I explained that the NC40 was too yellow and she got smart with me and said "well, you have a golden undertone"

    I know that!

I went today for the 3rd time and this really kind woman gave me an NW20 which matches perfectly!

But you are definately right, you do have to keep testing foundations to find the right one.

  • Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge. Your video helped me a big deal. Greetings from Europe ! :-)

  • Happy valentines day

  • I just discovered your channel, and I LOVE it. I watch a ton of makeup videos and I think you might be my new favorite. You look beautiful in this vid!

  • I actually own two different foundations where one is too light and one is a little dark. I can't wait to try this method! (Maybe I'll get my money's worth after all! :D)

  • At the moment, I still have some of my Mary Kay medium coverage foundation, but I will eventually have to go to this method because I need to budget when it comes down to makeup!!

  • You are looking gorgeous skin, hair, etc,. So glowy!!! Great tips...most of us have to blend for sure, and you demonstrated perfectly what to do.

  • Thanks for the tips Dezi! You're looking great!

  • Thank you so much !! I'm going to do this today :)

  • Great vid..had to favorite this one!

  • Wonderful advice, very informative. You skin is just glowing today, by the way! Thankyou lovely x

  • Loved the video, Dezi! All your videos are so informative and fun to watch... cause I know that's not just "blah, blah, blah"... :) This actually made me care more about foundation. Always neglected that... :( Not good at foundation... yet!

    Thanks!

    Blessings.

  • Dezi, thank you so much for sharing this video with us. It is very informative! I use Revlon Custom Creations #60 Deep. I love it b/c In the summer I'm darker & the winter mos, I'm lighter. It's perfect b/c it has the 2 pumps. A lot of people complain that it is heavy, but I always thin mine out w/ a lil' moisturizer. Awesome Video!

  • you're so beautiful Dez!!

    Very informative video :)

  • helpful vid

    thanks

  • Thanks for doing this video! I recently read an article about blending the two foundations and i am glad you actually demonstrated maybe i will start using it now :) BTW I love your room lol Your so calm, cool and collected but i knew secretly inside was a Rebel! LOL Breaking makeup rules I love it hahaha :P

  • I simply cannot find a good match with MAC. The NW25 in the satinfinish is the lightest shade and it was as dark as my beige foundations that I use when I have a very dark tan in the summer. I truly wish they would take fair and very dark skin tones into consideration. I have a friend that is very dark and cannot use MAC. I live an hour from the D.C. area and I would rather order & return than fight traffic (1x per year to store only). Maybe I should just try NC's. Thanks again Dezi.

  • Hi macface2adore , not finding a match, may indicate that MAC foundation is not right for you.

You may need to experiment with other brands. I use foundation from other brands also. I match up using the same method.

    Thanks for watching!!

  • Hi Dezi1016, I want to say a big thank you for making this video.I really needed this because I have had a hard time finding matching foundation at the drugstore.Have you ever heard of makeup by a company called Sebastian Trucco?

  • I wish everyday they would make NW10 in a decent coverage foundation. Cause when you're that fair EVERY little imperfection shows.

BTW in my experience NCs run lighter in liquids and darker in creams.

  • Dezi I Agree about MAC not matching colors correctly. I stopped using thier foundation because of that. Its always to red. I have a natural orange undertone. Now I get my foundation custom blended at prescriptives. You'll never go wrong. Actually, i've never found an over the counter foundation that matches.

  • You know I hate to mix and match. I like to find one product that matches my skin tone just right. I wear Marykay foundation Bronze 808 and it matches my skin color just fine and Im always getting compliments on my skin while wearing Marykay foundation medium coverage. That is one reason why I stick with Marykay because I dont have to worry about mixing and matching.

  • I wore MARY KAY at one time, I found it difficult to find a color that look NATURAL. It mostly looked MASK-LIKE on my skin!!

    Thanks

  • this was extremely helpful!! thanks so much!

  • You are so beautiful :)

  • Great tips and I totally agree with you concerning the lighting. Having the right lighting makes all the difference.

  • Great video! Im new to the whole foundation thing and I brought some last night and tried it when I got home and it DID NOT match my skin tone. It made my face look ashy lol. I washed it off my face.

I will test it out next time the same way you did in this video. Great vid! Thanks! :)

  • I am so glad you did this video, Like I can do a match looking at you and you say the foundation name and go down or up in colors. But this weekend I tried letting someone at clinque color match me. I bought it. But I wanted to cry when I got home because Its like2 hades 2 dark

  • Hey Pink, take it back!!!!!!!! Next time color match yourself, only YOU know what's going to look best against your skin.

Years ago, I was color matched twice at the MAC counter, both times I was matched with a color that was too dark!!

Try matching yourself, using this method.

    Be Blessed, Dezi

  • Great video! Do you think that the foundation should match the chest or just the neck?

  • Hi Princessbatty, don't match foundation to either your neck or your chest!!!!! Match it to your face, that's where you are going to wear it!!

Sometimes, the neck and the chest are a different color than the face.

    Thanks, Dezi

  • Thank you for posting this vid. Someone asked me the question about how I chose my MAC (NC45 and NC50) foundation mix. I sent a concise reply but I will be sure to send them the link to this vid.

    Lovely

  • yayyyy:] thanks this helps

  • GREAT VID Dezi.

I will say that Ive been bless to be able to match up most foundations to my skin tones..i know its not easy...any that I might be to light, use them as highlighters...

    really good vid.

  • im nc43!
