I have a siamese cat and he is the sweetest thing ever. Mostly he just likes to eat, sleep and cuddle...but he always follows me around the house and likes to give me company wherever I go. This movie is from the 50s, the cats are pretty stereotypical, the lyrics somewhat reflect image of how racists saw Asians back then, these cats are complete dicks, and it's not the first time we'd get a buck toothed, engrishy siamese cat(see Everybody wants to be a cat, though at least he was nice).

But the siamese cats here are more blatant and likely intentional. Ignoring racism where it does happen is just as bad as looking for it where it isn't. I think the real issue is you don't know how to handle it, otherwise you'd acknowledge it(or at least see how one could) and still respect the work for what it is, which is a good movie.

I watched that movie a million times when I wan a kid and never connected the cats with an ethnic group; I don't think most little kids watching it would make that connection either.
