My father lost his life on the Edmund Fitzgerald. I think your song is a very nice tribute to him & his fellow crewmates. Thank you for writing & singing your song in honor of them.
Brother Tom, thanks for this moving & wonderful tribute to the crew of The Edmund! I'm sorry that I missed this from your channel previously. Just a great job you've done in remembering these brave men! I've always found both the story itself and Gordon Lightfoot's classic song so very moving and haunting! RIP all the brave men who were lost 35 years ago! Semper Fi, Brother!
@eds1994fatboy That's an incredibly disrespectful and inappropriate comment, especially here.
TunesNorth, another fine video. My mother's family comes from a tiny town in Michigan's UP, just a few miles from the shores of Gitche Gumee. I very much want to visit the Whitefish Bay Museum now next time I am out there.
Wow ! Some Vid. Great song of a tragic event. My Mom worked in a Charity (The Royal National Mission to Deep Sea Fishermen) a Christian Charity looking after fishermen's families in ports across Britain. Not one of the trendy charities but it does its best. Nice work. Andy
Nice tribute Tom. I absolutely love the U.P., there are some VERY good people up there. I also have some family up there. Nice, simple, hardworking people. I love the U.P. can't say enough good about it.
very nice song...and to add ....a great tribute! such a fateful nite that must have been.i wonder what it feels like to be alone out there on a night like that.i know ive been out on the gitchee after dark....and it is a lonely feeling.
A haunting yet very well done piece Tom. Completely fitting with the somber feeling surrounding not only the loss of the Fitzgerald, but all the sailors lost doing a hard job that has to be done.
good tune Tom . I plugged in the Bose headphones to get all the audio I could but It only came in on the left headphone so most of the audio was the vocals but yeah man very well put together. I travel for a living and will no doubt visit that museum when the time and place allows..Cheers!!
This is a poignant and very professionally done piece. I echo the sentiment of babbchuck, truly a labor of love. As to the vocals, I felt the emotion. It must be a one-of -a- kind feeling to live so close to history!! Also, how do you put together so excellently the choreography of the video? I will sub also!!
Well composed, it is a fitting honor to those who cannot speak for themselves. Also, thank you for passing your video to me, I like the usage of lake scenery and the way you blended the photographs into the time sequence of the film. 5 out of 5.
My Grandfather worked in the port there, he loaded up the Edmund the day that it sunk. So this is really nice to see. Thank you, sir!! I'm going to Sub you.
It is so lovely, and the twenty-nine people may rest in peace now. I'm a writer, and this song, Lightfoot's song, and it all together has inspired me to write a book based off of it. Thank you, Tom.
good song..it captures the state of mind of sailors everywhere, never knowing what a gale would bring...not just the E F but all the wrecks since the Griffon
Thank you for sharing this with me. I don't know the story of this ship as I am not an American. However, I enjoyed your song and I could hear the passion in your vioce as you sang it.
Hello Tom ,thanks for your kindly words ,on my profile, Yes i´m not an american citizen but i like your country , and i recognize the hard work from the US armed forces ,making a, safe and better world for living. great video i remeber this wreck because i saw it on a documental , thanks for sharing and invite me to be your friend. best wishes from a mexican living on Colombia

Great song, and a fitting tribute to lost sailors in an incident which is sadly all too common. The video is great as well, almost chilling. I might try to sing this myself once I figure out the chords.
Thanks for posting, and greetings from a Scottish sailor.
Thank you so much for helping us remember those that were taken that day. Your video brought tears to my eyes as I remember all the times my family has visited the Museum.
As with our freedom fighters, we must never forget. Thank you
An AMAZING tribute--even not knowing much about the event, this beautifuly written and excellently sung song made my computer screen blurry. God Bless!
Nice job Tom!! I didn't know all those details about the story. Thanks for the comment on our version of Gordon's song. I have a T Shirt from the Whitefish Point Museum that was tossed to us by a then-shirtless guy who was listening to us playing "The Wreck" at a bar and grill in the mountains of New Mexico.... In fact...we were recording that night...it was at the same performance you commented on....Jeff
Beautifull made video Tom, i read the story you wrote in the info, there's a little grey area between the reported difficulty's and the sinking i believe, sad story.
Sailors pray For fair winds and a following seaThe smell of salt in the air,
The feel of their skin as it's touched by the spray An albatross soaring above,
Dolphins in the ship's wake at play To witness a work of art that only God can create,The sunset at the end of dayAt night a million stars in the sky,
Safe anchorage in an islands lee. When the time comes to die as for all it must,
To awake in Sailors Heaven where nothing ever rusts.God bless and keep you Tom
Nice video; it had a homey feel to it. ^.^ The Shipwreck Museum reminds of a museum for the Nancy (another shipwreck) in Wasaga Beach, Ontario. You're a good musician and singer! Also, I find your respect for the dead admirable.
The shot at 3:24 reminds me of that little State Park in Paradise. My family and I went on vacation there in August of '75, a couple of months before the sinking.
That was awesome. Thank you for remembering those brave men. May the Edmund Fitgerald and her crew never be forgotten. May all the ones taken by the sea rest in peace and never be forgotten
A very good and fitting tribute video and song. I remember hearing about it when it happened and have seen all the documentaries on the loss.
The only thing I would say about the song is to truly make it a timeless song, you could change the words from '29 years ago' to 'all those years ago' or something similar. I understand you made it for that specific event but it could be for any othe the anniversaries.
The best way to honor the men who didn't come home is to simply remember the 10th of November and the tragedy that happened on that horrible night so long ago, and to remember all who have lost their lives to the Witch of November
Great video,Tom!,by a lot,I emphasize it for the emotion that caused in me.

Such a powerful, well-done vid. The images are memorable and poignant - burned into my consciousness. Hard to believe it all happened so long ago but still seems like yesterday. The winds and the waves of the Great Lakes lie at my door, and I, too, will always remember the great loss. *****
