The lens adapter is actually more widescreen than wide angle- you get to have a wider aspect ratio (2.33:1 or whatever for anamorphic) without cropping the top and bottom, which causes less resolution. You don't lose any pixels this way. Also you get nice bokeh and flares.
@ArcticExposure Ever heard of cinemascope? It uses anamorphic lenses aswell and it gives you a much more asthetic look for wide images. And THAT is the benefit you can get from it :)

Why use such an adapter? What's the benefit with it compared to an extreme wide angle lens?
