To really understand what evil IT is, you basically have to read all of King's body of work. It's all connected. Even his latest 11/22/63 connects to IT. I'd start with the Dark Tower. It's taken me years to get through em all, but so satisfying.

He's talking to this older guy whos only daughter "disappeared" and the older guy tells Hamlon how a few weeks before her disapperance his wife heard a myriad of voices coming from the drain as she was doing dishes and when she asked who it was, it answered that its name was Legion.
