  • I agree, protestants don't understand how the Catholics see saints and Mary. Does it not say in hebrews that we run our race before 'a great cloud of witnesses'? I dont think though that Mark is bashing this view of her really, he is just getting a bit of history to sink into us protestants :)

  • "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I The Lord thy God am a jealous God."

Problem solved. When it comes to crucifixes and statues irregardless of who they portray, the Lord plainly states it's a sin.

  • It's art. If you only want to see historically accurate images you've got a lot of art to ignore.

  • catholics dont worship mary, i dont understand why do protestants make up things they dont and cannot understand as long as the are protestant, if there is any protestant who thinks catholics worship mother mary, he is certainly mistaken, and ignorant about both catholicism and the history of the church,

  • You may have been a Catholic, but you have no clue what Catholics believe. Just read the Catechism which says what Catholics believe. Maybe even check out the quoted Bible verses or the references to those verses. I don't know, just a thought. If you want to make a point, make a good, substantiated one. You say you love Catholics, but you like to find ways to poke at them, is that not true?

  • @gilbert4321 Did you remove your own comment? Either way, if I don't know my church's history, please enlighten me. I'm waiting.

  • Wow, Mark, how superficial an argument! If you want to argue against Catholic views of Mary by talking about one particular statue. You have to understand what that statue symbolizes. No piece of art is simply a picture. There are meanings in it, in the color, the strokes, the style, etc. Oh how horrible and unsubstantiated your argument is!

  • i nearly Cried thinking about 12 to 13 year old mary and probly 18 to 22 year old Joseph

  • @libbyandtai

It was a whole different deal back then. Life was a lot harder, and you had to grow up a lot faster. a 12 to 13 year old back then would be worth a 25-year-old today.

  • @Jerkwad152 Back then? This is still the way around the world, life is still hard outside of the West!

  • @Jerkwad152 Life is easy for only 10% of the world.

  • @libbyandtai Mary was not 12 to 13 years old. That's spread by Muslims to try and make Muhammad look better.God made Eve a "woman" from Adam. Elizabeth, Mary's cousin, was "Very Old" .The young age in Judaism began via the Talmud of 500 A.D. (nearly twice as long as the USA has existed.) and flourished in Medieval times, The min. age allowed to serve in army 20 yrs Num 1:3. The Bat/Bar Mitzot weren't even during biblical times. Few misinterpret virgin for young girl.

  • I don't offer worship to Mary. I don't even pray to Mary. I'm not Roman Catholic. Just kind of tired of people feeling that it is necessary to belittle the one who brought Jesus into the world.

  • Ahhhh, yeah, the Catholic pictures of the Blessed Virgin Mary are when she is up in Heaven and now the Queen of Heaven and Earth. And the artists will portray Mary how they want. Jesus was terribly whipped and scourged at the pillar, yet people will make crucifixes with an absolute minimum amount of blood and will try to hide the pain that He felt on the cross. I would hope that someone who was raised "Catholic with a side of Catholic and Catholic for dessert" would know more about the BVM.

  • Wow. Lookin' super trendy, Mark! The back ground of your "stage" even matches the color of your clothes. You gots it all together!

Mary bore God in her womb, and is most definitely glorified in heaven with her Son, Jesus the Christ.

  • @stpaulphillip Mary was a sinner in need of Jesus's grace just like anyone else. She is no different than any other sinner who has repented and come to Jesus for forgiveness (by grace.) Stop giving your worship, honour and respect for a human and worship God alone. Anything else is idolatry

  • @JPBuysjr I second that!! Amen!!! we all need Jesus including mary.

  • @JPBuysjr Stop spewing heresy!

  • @sgal88 Was Mary a human? Yes, then you cannot worship her. Idolatry is worshiping anything that is created. God alone is worshiped, not his creation.

  • @JPBuysjr No one denies that may was a human but honor can be given to Her.

  • Anyone notice, at 4:13 "marry wasn't sittign on a throne with a crown on her head", the camera goes up an inch to show weather or not Mark has a crown on his head or something.

  • Yeah, I noticed, Rian O' Driscoll the rugby player.

  • @comali2212: you don't understand anything about Jesus. Jesus is God. He exists before time begins. He is not a creation. He's the Creator. He created Mary. God's purpose for creating the earth was to glorify himself, and God's plan before creating the earth was to allow men/women to sin so that He will come to die for us as a savior to give glory to God. Jesus chose to enter human history through Mary, so she's just a mean to an end for him. Nothing special is in Mary, except she was chosen

  • Jesus was born in a manger, worked as a carpenter, lived in poverty, experienced hunger, tiredness, lack of sleep, persecution, mockery, torture and humiliation, crowned with thorns and died on a shamefull cross..

Why we see Him in pictures as a King, in all glory?

The same reason why we see Mary in glory, the same reason why we see Saints in glory, it will be the same reason as well, when we'll be in glory one day IF we follow their path to the Kingdom that is coming, the Kingdom of God.

  • What wrong with Mary!

She's the Mother of Jesus, the MOTHER of Christ. We pray to the divine Father, but we put aside the earthly Mother that became divine and filled with the holy Spirit by conceiving GOD in Her womb.

We saw and heard GOD through Mary, no one can dare to deny this fact.

For Christ sake, give this holy Mother what She deserve:

    Veneration

    and Respect!

  • @comali2212 You can talk everything about the Queen of Heaven....for another thousand years, but you'll never know the true JESUS unless you stop worshiping this demon-goddess.. The Mary of the Bible is in Heaven with Jesus Christ; so, it must be demons who hear your prayers and sometimes grant you "miracles". You don't read the Bible and understand it correctly, do you?? Mary is NOT Omnipresent; she's NOT God! Don't fantasize the Mary of the Bible as being more than what she really was.

  • @MrToli62 She is the Mother of God, Jesus Christ is the living God, if you think Mary is not the Mother of God then Jesus is no God, you have to deal with that on your own.

Plus, tell me, how do you see your mother in this life, that brought you to life? Do you see her as a vessel who brought you to life and then her mission is ended?.. Your answer to this question will determine how Jesus Christ sees His Mother..

    Enough said.

  • @comali2212 God's Holy Word speaks extremely little of Mary because God is Omnipotent, Omnipresent, & Omniscient. He knew ppl would worship her, as the pagans used daughter & mother deities to intercede for the main god. That's why when the woman shouted out "Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you'. He replied, 'Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it'." Luk 11:27,28 "My mother and brothers are those who hear God's word and put it into practice." Luk 8:21

  • @MrToli62 True.

  • Sacrifice is a definite mark of a primitive religion. This has always been one of the issues that causes me not to take Christianity & Judaism seriously. Frankly I find it's practices very repulsive. I'm quite sure god never requests death of any creature to forgive another creature. Wake up people! This is a major cop out. Each of us are responsible for our own actions. Lamb of god does not mean gentle person, it means SACRIFICE! Grow up people! Flesh Sacrifice is never required from god!

  • who da fuc knos dis

  • How can you have a grandmother who was a Nun?? Isn't "no nookie" a condition of being a Nun??

  • Many women who become nuns do so after being widowed.

  • Not only was the statue of Mary on the way-siade but the statue young Jesus... The baby Jesus pictured there was like a Third Reich Jesus; blond hair and blue eyed. No wonder there are a lot of misconceptions regarding Christianity; medieval media had it wrong from the get-go.

  • Quite incredible is Mary's story!

  • pft, I won't bother if you wont.

  • Specifics please, or gtfo.
