  • I love seeing any footage of the Bay trams during the 80's and 90's. Thanks for sharing

  • The H Class trams have more soul in one of their bolts that holds the seats in then the new flexys have in whole. Nev.

  • @will409 yep but for a real experience go to the Museum at St Kilda, soem elderly wotrking trams there

  • mmmmm Pity they didn't keep them all now they find they are short of trams.

  • Whaaaatt ..?? I thought the Glenelg Tram was sacred and not to be replaced by those soulless plasticky things !

I remember riding on them many years back with the enduring memory of the jolt that rocked the cabin as the drive motors kicked in.

  • Oooh, I love that nasally whine these beautful old girls have, almost as good as a Brown Bomber's whine!

    Great video! ;-)

  • @B58PMCSA yep that unique sound is caused by the straight cut gears though many "classic" types of tram have the same sound. When the H cars are wound out to full speed you cna hear a "pinging" sound which is a mechanical overspead gadget that lifts the brushes of the commutator so as to not keep acellerating. Top speed is believe it or not around 100kmh

  • 100kmh??!!! That is amazing!

  • @extrammie

not 100 kph around 80 kph my dad used to drive them

  • shit i remember 9 years ago when they had the old trams, left adelaide only just found out now the have replaced them!

  • its a shame they dont run the old trams anymore :( it would be good if you can run the new and old ones at the same time :(

  • very nice video:)

    brings back good memories:)
