Congratulations, Mark. Yeah, I knew what an osprey was, and I was hoping someone would put together "seldom was heard a discouraging" BIRD. Because surely with those clues, you would have known it was nest.
i can't believe i didn't get that.. nipsey was telling me it was "wish," so i wasn't really thinking.. i don't think i'd have solved the problem.. the clues made me think the answer was "chicken."
surprising that they couldn't come up with a puzzle where all the words connected.. I don't think I've ever seen two isolated puzzle parts like that on CW
I was screaming BIRD! at the screen, but you did a much better job than I would have. Many of the other clues during this and the other rounds went over my head. Crosswords were never my thing.
i'm ready to bet that they only rang the bell so as to try and stop you from winning the $1,000 (if it hadn't been for that you would've won it, obviously.)
actually, the opposite is true.. they were running out of time, and you can hear the show's producer in the background telling me to hurry up, so that i would get an opportunity to win the $1000... you can even here the producers sigh of anguish after i got the last clue wrong..
I grew up with the Cross-wits. It was my favorite Game Show. Great job! This is a more of a behind the scenes question. What are your most vivid memories from the first time you ever walked into the studio. Is there anything that sticks out in your mind?
i was only 19 at the time.. kinda naive.. there was a lot going on in the studio.. especially with the "stars." it was a bit surreal.. just standing there, taking guesses, being told that they were going to give me prizes for it all..
Nipsey did that b
it about "food not fit to eat without lard fat" on $100K Pyramid in the 80s.

How much did you win in total?

So the word Soup pertains to Nests because of Birds' Nest Soup...I never heard of that before.

btw, i read on wikipedia that the scores were converted into cash for the actual players, is that true mark?
Noraa972 3 years ago
NOT true... the only way to make any cash, was to score 1000 points, for which you got $1000. so, i only got prizes..

and regarding that last clue, did you actually know the answer to that?
Wheeloffortunefan999 3 years ago
i wish i knew that answer... although, i don't know that i'd have gotten "nest" from the clues... i'll never forget what an osprey is again..

wow, they actually wanted some1 to win. (that's a first.) :) i'm not really kidding about that, it's not often that you see something like that.

did that bell mean that time was up? or was it used to indicate that you were within striking distance of winning the $1,000?
Wheeloffortunefan999 4 years ago
it meant time for the regular portion of the game was over.. the person in the lead then got a chance to play in the final round...

Just out of curiosity, was that you all those years ago?

it sure was...
