@Ferrobbra Man-Bat was a scientist who cam up with a serum that turns him into a humanoid bat-like creature almost like a werewolf but well a bat but look up Prometheus he is the exact opposite of Batman but they are similar in many ways
i have a comic book from DC which is called MAN-BAT. its really old and im not sure if it has anything to do with the batman series. anyone know anything about it?
the 60's TV show comes on the channel called "the hub" (channel 335 on AT&T cable) and sometimes it comes on at 11:30 PM and sometimes they show 2 episodes at 3:00 AM and 3:30 AM that are and episode and after the cliffhanger
batdance made me cringe, not gonna lie :S I generally love all iterations of batman though, excluding a few ridiculous story arcs in the comics themselve.
@Dubs60 You know if 99.5% of the people watching this video actually watched their Tv's at 9.40 Am, they wouldn't see it... Wanna know why? You didn't state which channel, network or if it's cable or not. And you're aware that different countries and states have completely different set ups.
But it's okay, i can tell you're only around eight years old, intelligence will come to you soon.
It play Adam West's Batman on IT4 ( In the UK ) and i also have a really old casset tape of batman haven't ever listened to it fully But When it just says Batman i think the Tim Burton movie .
@kurvos I think that the Nostalgia Critic did that pretty well. He only mentioned 10 episodes, but it's the content that counts. And it honestly is a lot to cover.
@pigfarts992 I know - but since James Rolfe looks at this from another perspective than Doug Walker does, it would be interesting; and most likely educational to get to hear what he says about it. It was thanks to James Rolfe I finally understood why some people love Kill Bill. Granted, I still hate the movies; but now I can at least respect those who love them a lot easier.
@pigfarts992 Didn't mean he should precisely do a top 10 episode, but... yeah, it would be awesome. And good for you then you loved Kill Bill... but I won't be able to love those movies as long as I live. The reasons are many - but the biggest one is Uma Thurman. She is buttugly, and a rather bad actress from time to time. And... well, I can't believe she's and excellent martial artist when she is superskinny; and her toes are shaped after her high heels. That's just silly, IMO.
@OurGangFan Personally, I think that movie is a tad overrated. Don't get me wrong - I liked it for what it was, but... I think they could've left out that pointless love story. That's MY opinion, anyway. I think Batman: Mask of the Phantasm and Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker are both much better. But again - that's my own opinion. If you love Batman: Mask of the Phantasm; more power to you.
@UltimasIsland Static Shock? I have the entire Batman the animated series collection, and I do not get what the fuck you are talking about. Be clear about what you say or don't say anything.
@kurvos Definitely. This review was great, but it would be a crime to leave out the Animated Series. No overview of Batman is complete without Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill (the definitive Joker imo).
@opszanski Guys did you not pay attention? He said the series would be too big to talk about in the reviews. He loves the series it just deserves a review on it's own instead of being cramed into the movie reviews.
@ShadowCrowX As one of the biggest Batman fans out there, I can say this from the bottom of my heart - I really could care less about the Nolan movies. :P
@kurvos lol I was being sarcastic but whatever. I still respect your preference. I personally think Nolan's films have been the best by far. inb4 Burton fanboyism
@ShadowCrowX I think Nolan is a selfish director and his realism in his movies clashes with the Batman universe. He seems to have forgotten the fact that Batman isn't supposed to be realistic. Let's face it - there's nothing realistic about a rich guy dressing up like a bat nighttime to fight crime. It kinda ruins the point with Batman to me to make it realistic.... and no matter what you will say to defend Nolan's movies - trust me, I've heard it all already.
@kurvos fair enough. I'm not the biggest fan of Nolan's films, just Batman in general. I play AC everyday, even been downloading TAS. I've also rewatched BB and TDK recently and am in love with them. They're not perfect--because, even though some of the dialogue is profound and realistic, some of it is unfortunately contrived--but I think it's the perfect series to trump the Schumacher BS before they make a more balanced reboot of the Batman series.
@ShadowCrowX Good point. I mean, I can still watch the Nolan movies... I just don't like how pretentious they are. But yeah, I wish for a new live action Batman franchise, where they stick closer to the source material... and where they can learn to pronnounce "Ra's al Ghul" properly. :P And this is a minor detail - but I freakin hope we will finally for once get to see a Alfred with a mustache, like he is supposed to have.... damnit. XD
bill finger is the true creator of batman. bob kane just drew the design and came up with the name. bill finger created the concept, the world, the characters, etc.
So in the future, his ghost writers should be getting all the credit for making batman what he is today, as they invented all his supporting cast and unique attributes. While Bob threw in his two cents, it was mostly his ghost writers who wrote the stories, drew & inked & lettered the panels, and invented snazzy new concepts. Case in point being that Jerry Robinson for example is still around. His autograph should be worth more than Kane's now as he invented Joker & Bill designed the look.
Now what Bob Kane didn't figure is that comic book afficianados of the future would uncover these truths, and while it's true taking sole credit is nothing new, it is damning when an entire series' creation is leeched from other works, and when the badasses who invented all the unique stuff get zero official credit for it while the liar who only put 2 & 2 together got everything. By lying about his inspirations, he ensured sole credit and evaded these accusations for decades abd banked heavily.
So while batman I agree is my favorite, his alleged sole creator is more of a hack who just wanted to get rich. He did afterall leave the comic in 1943, and only went on to do the newspaper strip which he claimed 90% of which was his own work. Backchecks on employee records proved he lied about that too, leaving most if not all to his ghost writers, yet taking all the credit and biggest paychecks, leaving his loyal team of geniuses with nothing. Not even any official recognition from DC. Jerk.
He combined the shadow & phantom ideas with the shadow story to get batman, then plagiarized artwork & plots, and lied about his true inspiration to appear unique and legit, conning his team out of rightful money, and taking sole credit for inventing a character he leeched to the nth degree, whereas all the cool unique things about the batman stories were made by his ghost writers, like Dick Sprang, Bill Finger, and Jerry Robinson to name a few.
Bob's last claim for inspiration was Da Vinci's flying machine. Yet in his own autobiography, it was clear he falsified the date he drew his version of it, as he drew it after the batman comics were in full swing. Lastly, "The Shadow" story "Partners in Peril" has the same plot as Batman's first story, yet precedes it. Furthermore, there are 7 references to bats in it.
Zorro was another alleged inspiration, but he was nothing like the batman character. But it worked for Bob since there was no comic book. In actuality, "The Shadow" & "The Phantom" were his inspirations for batman's style from the former, and origin from the latter. He then traced and recolored panels from those comics to make his early batman work, despite that his ghost writers invented the rogues gallery, and made the only original comics which didn't leech anything. Bob took sole credit.
Furthermore, the batsignal you're referring to was a moth which hits a headlight, hence why it moved. And the bat only wore the mask for 5 minutes or so in the film. Bob said the bat whispers (the remake) was his inspiration, yet there are no bat signals or literal bat costumes in sight. Theater records prove the 1926 film "The Bat" didn't rerun in the early 30s when Bob claimed he got his idea. Hence, he lied betting no one would check him, and thus severed ties to his actual inspiration.
Bob Kane lied alot about his inspiration, lied on all 3 counts actually. He didn't even do most of the work. His ghost writers did. Plenty of evidence mounted against him lead to a halfassed confession after Bill Finger died in '74. But Bob never gave credit to his actual inspiration (nor his team) as he leeched the batman from an amalgamation of already exisiting comics, even copying animated frames. Bob took sole credit in his autobiography. His team got nothing, and Bob got millions.
These are my ratings. 10/10 Batman(1966) 7/10 Batman(1989) 8/10 Batman Returns 8/10 Batman Forever 6/10 Batman and Robin 2/10 (I give it a two because it's laughable) Batman Begins 8/10 The Dark Knight 10/10 As for the animated series BTAS 10/10 The Batman 6.5/10
kno wats ironic? they dont wanna release the adam west tv series on dvd becuz they dont want to go back to campy batman, yet theyve released batman and robin and batman the brave and the bold
I really hope he will do a review of TAS someday. It's a rare example of a cartoon beign better than many live action movies (whether Batman or not). It's a good reminder that animation isn't just for kids and sports some of the best voices and stories I've seen for the characters. Still every version is worth mentioning and as he said there's too much to talk about when it comes to that. Hopefully he will someday.
Heh, the last rating reminded me of the fact that Burt Ward's dick was HUGE, and that it wasn't appropriate for a kid's show at all, so they did everything they could do hide it, and he even had to take drugs to make it smaller.
I guess they just gave his junk to the wrong person. Oh, well.
actually , James..It was BOTH the Bat and Leonardo divinci's Flying Machine that gave birth to Batman. but still, right you are! and i agree, the dr sucked. they shouldve used The Monk.
Did you know that Clint Eastwood was cast as Two Face for the original Batman and Robin TV series. There were never any episodes filmed with him since the show was canceled shortly there after.
@foreverdjendy Reason they couldn't not use two-face was because the character looked too gruesome for that serious. According to the imdb, he was supposed to be a tv commentator.
@foreverdjendy Reason they couldn't not use two-face was because the character looked too gruesome for that series. According to the imdb, he was supposed to be a tv commentator.
What people tend to forget about the 60's series is that it was made during the silver age of comics. In other words, it wasn't much different from the comics at the time.

Still every version is worth mentioning and as he said there's too much to talk about when it comes to that. Hopefully he will someday.

technically The Wizard, villain in the Batman and Robin serial, is a villain from the Golden Age of DC comics.

I think the "Batman" fans who hate the 60's show have a case of "Bat-Nesia".

Is anyone worried that the new Batman movie will become Dennis Miller's Batman.

I enjoyed the Batman 1940 serials. they were funny to watch. Especially the cheap visual effects for the invisible wizard
mp01juve 9 months ago
Heh, the last rating reminded me of the fact that Burt Ward's dick was HUGE, and that it wasn't appropriate for a kid's show at all, so they did everything they could do hide it, and he even had to take drugs to make it smaller.
I guess they just gave his junk to the wrong person. Oh, well.

The reason that Batman and Robin was bad was because it had nothing to do with Tim Burton. (Batman Forever was produced by Tim Burton)

Totally agree about Adam West!
Great voice, even now! I got to meet him at a convention in Pittsburg a few weeks ago, got his autograph.

The Riddler was also played by John Astin (Gomez Addams) in the 60's series, but Gorshin made him his character.

actually , James..It was BOTH the Bat and Leonardo divinci's Flying Machine that gave birth to Batman. but still, right you are! and i agree, the dr sucked. they shouldve used The Monk.

Did you know that Clint Eastwood was cast as Two Face for the original Batman and Robin TV series. There were never any episodes filmed with him since the show was canceled shortly there after.
foreverdjendy 1 year ago
@foreverdjendy Reason they couldn't not use two-face was because the character looked too gruesome for that serious. According to the imdb, he was supposed to be a tv commentator.

What people tend to forget about the 60's series is that it was made during the silver age of comics. In other words, it wasn't much different from the comics at the time.
