I buyed it, and I dont know, yeah, maybe u can, anyway, u unlock characters this way:

U fight in storymode with any character and ull notice missions is japanese(I dont understand, but u can get what they mean, try beating ur opponents using ur special tech and KO them), that way u may get coins, when u beat storymode u have to win in the coin machine, thats the unlocking system, it sucks and ull have to try it many times
