  • Brilliant !

  • she has big hands for her size

  • Very clean and amazing technique.

  • she pulls great sound from her bow!

  • Is it really called "Caprices 15" or "Caprice 15"?

I've even heard people saying 24 caprices.

    Which is it?

  • 15 persons are fail and nature failure!

  • that was great and she had her eyes closed the whole time

  • I don't like her sound, but her technique is outstanding.

  • I don't like her sound.

  • Maybe is Chuck Norris disguised.

Tal vez es Chuck Norris disfrazado.

  • prodigy

  • r u sure this is a human playing d violin?

  • çinlilerin taklitte ne kadar usta olduklarını bu video ile açıkça görebiliyoruz:D

  • I like how she closes her eyes to enjoy the music as she plays it oh so beautifully <3

  • FELICIDADES. :)

  • for asian people not the sound is important but the age ridiciolus...

  • I found an error!!! In 0:48 !!! haha, now, is only 99% perfect XD XD XD

  • Hahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!

  • @zmaacrekk YOU WIN

  • Very good , bravo!

  • that looks effortless too her. amazing.

  • Man! how does she do all those staccato notes all on an up bow at 3:36??? and of course all the other stuff too... ;)

  • tenia k ser chino ¬¬

  • Double octave.

  • She is so good that it's scary.

  • the octaves at the beginning are just.............. perfect~

my teacher always told me that when your octaves are perfect they should sound like one sound (like for example when you play the open A string all the harmonics are played as well)

    i want her technique!!!!!!

  • Genia

  • Very, very nice!

  • niceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • is she playing double or triple octaves?

  • I love the way she plays the violin...

  • que vieja tan loca!!! fooo...

  • woow...very good. .

  • BRAVO!!!!!!!

  • Fuck man, this is amazing!!! wether she plays like that cuz she's forced to practice 12 hours a day or because she really loves music and she's passionate and devoted to it, this girl knows how to play strings...

  • How old is she?

  • She's 15 or 16 at that time,.

  • still jailbait...

  • what did you mean? I dunt understand your language.

  • she is an amazing musician, she plays with a lot of emotion too..

  • i agree that there is definitely reverb, but she is awesome not a word there. but still its the hardwork and not herself in the piece. try jiri vodicka and his live unedited performance of this piece

  • i see many hours of hard work and dedication to superior technical skill which is needed to play like this

  • wow

  • yes, she's really good, but the sound is edited a little. there is definitely added reverb, which helps to clean up the sound. i think.

  • That was incredible!!!!!!11111111

  • I think she has such a great control of all aspects of playing the violin and top that with a lovely sounding violin (it sounds of a good quality)

this sounds so great . . . her higher pitched notes sound sweet instead of scratchy. I agree with Silvoleon =)

  • oh bull shit.............

  • olha... deus te abençoe viw... olha... eu... q isso

  • Chinese people are extremely hard working. I am pretty sure she spent countless hours practicing every single day! She deserves it, and I just think she's brilliant.

  • yeah but no emotion

  • @hiladelphia there's plenty of emotion in her playing. It's just that she is "too advanced" for you.

  • @Enix5548 nah I can play guitar like paul gilbert and ynwie malmsteen this is not advanced lol

  • Close your eyes and just listen to the music. That is all that counts.

  • @Silvoleon No, it is simple math: for every genius in US, China has 5. Anyone can put in long hours. But only the talent one can be successful at PERFORMANCE level. China is going to rule the world: music, Olympic, science, engineering. Just simple math.

  • @wanyatkit The genius in the US are germans, chinese, mexicans, french, russians, etc... US just offer the money. Yes, the genius people exist in that countrie, but is a little number. Is not a provocation, is just the true.

  • @zmaacrekk Yours is the traditional melting pot theory where great minds come to the land of opportunity (US) and proper. Given the way US is handling the economy and politics, US is no longer a land of opportunity (high unemployment and trade deficit). This discourages people to come to US and different ethnic groups are fighting over what is remaining of the economic pie. The pot is NOT melting anymore. Population-wise China is still bigger than the sum of people from the above nations.

  • @wanyatkit Believe me, i Know your countrie, sooooooo goooooood! hehe

  • holy shit!

  • this is not unlike yngwie lol

  • you are an idiot

  • Tianwa Yang played this 8 years ago when she was 13.

Now, after studying in US and Germany, she is a brilliant/beautiful young violinist with several recordings. She just made her US west coast debut in Seattle on May 9, 2009.

    Google her Bio if interested.

  • her intonation on every note is almost bridging perfect . and that is almost impossible to do with paganini even with professional's

  • this is a violin godess. clear and tuned sound

  • those might be some of the best octaves i've EVER heard...brava

  • hey violinists... does anyone know what scale is this??

  • its G major or E minor.. lol iono

  • It says at the beginning, E minor

  • she looks like if have 13 years but remember is asian they looks very young when are grown uo

she most have like 25 years

  • what you mean with that?

whats the matter if i cant write in english perfectly i can speak in 5 languajes

but mi way to write is no so good

  • man she is so stiffy

  • How can you say she's not enjoying it? Can't you see the way she moves that bow?

  • this is too amazing, the sad thing is that her parents probably forced her to practice non-stop, who's to say she's even enjoys the music she plays? it's awful but she's still amazing.

  • she'd never be this good if she didn't have a passion for playing

  • Do you mean a bitter wine can bear sweet fruits?

  • somebody know where can i get this songs

  • who is she?

  • Tianwa Yeung

  • Another great violinist of the past incarnated as an Asian girl ... interesting tendency ...

  • @violinoamore yes, but she only has one half of the talent.... all these classical pieces were created by Europeans.. so i wouldn't suggest a complete incarnation

  • Incredible! I just might burn my violin.

  • She play's this caprices almost at the same level of the best recordings ever of paganini caprices, perfect. She deserves all respect for her fantastic achievements in the violin.

  • Yes, indeed, you are right. She's a real wonder. Al respect to her and teachers as well. I dunno though if she still needs teachers-she is simply better than most teachers. I would love to hear more of her. Beethoven, Brahms and Paganini concerts among others.

  • paganini would be happy if he hear u ... bravooooo!!

  • WOW~ very correct and clear:D beautiful sounds~

  • woah...

  • its perfect!!! Congratulations!!!

  • she doesn't play like a machine. She's very expressive, actually. It take a lot of concentration to play like that.

  • Great job..and actually I wish we offered children MORE opportunity to CONCENTRATE on music. I would have loved to have been able to study music all day for my "studies"..literally have cherished that opportunity but music was not considered important enough..let alone a stringed instrument. I would have LOVED to have been "exploited" in the manner celloprof describes as my parents punished me by taking my violin away..during money crunches our music programs are first to go

  • cont--the expense alone to study with a decent teacher, attain a GOOD instrument, attend competitions, summer camps almost automatically exludes a large number of our children from higher study in strings (or even other areas of private music study) I wish every child who had the desire could have the opportunity-that thought saddens me deeply.

  • I'm not the best with words but let me say something to all the haters. I'm a musician and I love what I do, but on stage I've been described as looking like I'm in pain. I just don't like looking like an idiot. Dancing, making stupid faces, smashing my instrument onto the stage and setting it on fire, grabbing myself like Michael Jackson. Thats just not me, it wouldn't and couldn't make me feel what I'm playing anymore if I already love it as much as I can.

Maybe shes just shy or something.

  • well put, She hides a magic most of us don't understand but all the same, have.

  • I don't think she is shy, she is explosive in her playing, very much concentrating on the violin. Unfortunately some poeple are looking for entertainment, instead of great quality music. Miss Yeung is one of the greatest young talent. I wish her all the good luck in her carrier! If I look at her playing, her fingers, her beautiful violin sound, tears come in my eyes. Tears of happiness.

  • holy shit that was incredible!

  • the fact that she has her eyes closed all the time doesn't mean anything to you who complain about her musicallity?try not looking at her while listening to her sound and you will find it right there..!!

  • oh my God, she plays like a machine! i don't like it although technically it's perfect...

  • If she would play like Lang Lang you would complain about it

    you ALWAYS complain, complain, complain!

  • Lovely

  • I listened carefully - and you can *hear* the musicality. Just because she doesn't make silly faces, bend over, rock about, or nearly walk off the stage doesn't mean she isn't musical, it just means she stays in one spot.

  • YEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH thats rite

  • What the heck is with stereotypes... gooosh!!

Now she might not feel it but... She understands! She could not pull that off if she didn't. Anyways she still Rocks lol

  • shes not chinese and i'd like to see you play something like this and not have try your hardest not to fuck up.

  • She is chinese and her name is Tianwa Yeung. So shut up, I'm sustaining my opinion!

  • why do you think they dont feel music? becuase they dont make faces while theyre playing?

  • how much do you know about people? not much! then shut up

  • it takes skill to play something, but it takes a genius to compose it. there is a HUGE difference between the two. ok?

  • oh my GOD!! she's so good as though she a robot with conciense and heart

  • what are you talking about dumbshit? paganini, the genius who composed these made it beutiful. its like a book, he makes it and she just recited it. but it did take skill, nonetheless

  • She is truly amazing. An artist is truly an artist when they can take a Paganini Caprice and make it beautiful.

I love her tone. She releases every note with this wonderful small woosh!

    *****

  • hahaha are you saying their ugly to start with?

  • you cant possibly be serious...

  • This violinist is amazing. I want to know more about her. Has she done any other recording? Is she playing as soloist? Where? All I can find in Google are references to the Paganini videos.

  • It's all in Chinese...

  • though she is amazing to say the least you have to stand in aww of the creator of this song, paganini, his work is amazing and the

    5th is breathe taking

  • she's a machine from the future sent back in time to destroy man kind!!!

  • paganini nun ripete!

  • 4 errores, pero no me importa me sige gustando...XD

  • She's a beast!

  • she starts the piece like she means business, but then in the major section, it sounds like it gets a little bit too "nice". although her performance is absolutely incredible either way, but i think it would be more effective if she carried out her badass approach for the whole piece.

  • very beautiful playing!

  • lol yes yes.. everybody can.. we are just machines like a powertool.. we all "feel" we should change the world when we are 17.

    Ps. Video was great!

  • that is true that everyone has the capacity. the human being is no different than a machine. some machines can sense things better than others, and thus express "emotion" better.

her bowing is perfect on the second part though.

  • she iz better than mii ........... thw

  • Does anybody has a score for this piece?

  • per copiare la musica i cinesi sono bravi, ma nn sanno fare un caxxo!!

  • hahahaha yeah sure "everybody"

  • hahahaha yeah sure "everybody"

  • she reminds me Hillary Hahn. God's given talant!!!

  • O.o

  • AMAZING...!!, GOOD DIGITACIÓN...!!

i THINK IS ABSOLUTELY PERFECT .....

  • I wonder what make her violin is? It sounds beautiful (though ofc a lot of that is the playing involved!) My teacher is currently lending me the one she did all her diplomas on, because she wants me to be able to practice on a better quality violin - I wish I could keep it! I love its mellow, robust tone!

  • who made your teachers violin?

  • I've got no idea! She said it was Scottish, that's all I know. And that it was made in 1810 (amazing to think that Beethoven was still alive when it was made! And Haydn had died only a year before, Mozart just 19 years before). It's nothing super amazing I don't think, but it's good quality, perhaps semi-pro/pro at a push?

  • hmmm scottish . . . that's interesting lol. Well it wouldn't surprise me if it were on the low side of professional level or better just because usually that may start at a value of 8,000 and higher (depending on where u get it from) just cuz that's about a minimum start to violins used by music majors and therefore beginning professionals.

  • I see. Well it certainly sounds good to me, although as of yet I don't have the skills myself to bring out it's full qualities and colour! One day, one day... hehe. What type do you play, and how old is it etc.?

  • well, that's why you upgrade violins a lot of times. . . to allow you to improve. But it usually takes some getting used to at first. I find it so exciting upgrading . . . despite the fact that it also mean's parting from the violin that I've fallin in love with haha. But I always manage to get over it lol. I currently play a 1775 Tomasso Carcassi

  • Hehe, yupyup to all. Wow, it's fantastic how such a thing can last over 200 years! Then again, look at the Strads/del Gesus! Are Carcassis a good make? Ofc, its age will confer a lot of benefit to its sound too. (which reminds me, I meant ' its ' in my last message, not ' it's '. I'm picky about grammar, especially use of apostrophes!)

  • I think it's a Gagliano... worth hundreds of thousands. Although she'd sound good on a $50 skylark.

  • I think she's one of the most technically competent violin players on youtube. Her intonation is 99.99999% flawless. Her left hand seems like the perfect machine for violin. I'm guessing she's around 12 or 13 here. to find someone as "good" as this I usually have to search under the greatest names in violin. Even then, she still holds her own.

  • wow..every note is like in tune..amaaazing

  • . . . geee this video makes me sad D: ... she plays so good and i play soo bad D:

  • TOTAL respect and admiration to this Chinese girl...I play the violin too, but not on this level of virtuosity! I hope that one day, through hard work and dedication, I can play as well as her.

  • I totally agree with you :) and I believe that even if prodigies get a head start, so to speak, by the time we're mature adults we'll have had enough practice to play as good as they did at this sort of age, even if as adults they've still got that head start, all the insanely good ones like Vengerov!

  • this piece is a pain in the ass to play with such control. Bravo

  • Hear how she hesitates so purposefully on the top note of the phrase.

  • im simply jealous...the rude comments dont change the fact that this girl can play...EXTREMELY well, so dont hate because some 10 yr old can play better than you..just work harder duhhh go get a clue, and stop acting like 3rd graders

  • Lovely, just outstanding.

Certainly motivates me to keep on practicing my Violin :D

  • is emoitions supposed to expressed in music or in the face?..I mean if we closed our eyes and just listened, do we feel the motions of it?....cause this is an ultimate question of mine..what's emotion, isn't it timimg signature of going with the voume up or down perfectly on each note as it feels...welll that could be practiced as well...so maybe we can endup with a wonderful music coming from uneemotional well practiced guy?

  • She never shows emotion. The only possibilities here are like joanna said, she decides to show us or not, or she's just full of technical knowledge and skill, which is kind of depressing.

  • Emotion is expressed in the hands and fingers ; it is expressed in the music. You do not have to pull silly faces like a rock guitarist every time you playa a difficult piece of music.

  • I would love to know the maker of her violin. Anyone know?

  • Gagliano

  • More in tune than Perlman on this one.

  • what a life that would be though... to study music and play it to people for a living

  • All the emotion are in her heart. She decides whether to show them to us or not.

  • maybe americans would succeed at more things if we more like asian people

  • Although there's certainly nothing wrong with rock guitarists showing emotion, I think this is a beautiful performance. But since I already saw a couple of videos played by this girl, I expected nothing less!

  • holy fuck amazing.

  • iihhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • Too many people think you have to show emotion in the music by pulling strange painful faces like a rock guitarist. It is a pity that some violinists have started doing this too Yes, you know who I mean ! Your hands are all that is needed to express emotion and this girl does that beautifully.

  • Yes im very tired of idiots saying people dont show emotion. I didnt realize music came from stupid faces. I want to hear music not watch someone's facial expressions and body movements while they are playing music. People that say this are probably crappy at playing but very good at making dumb faces.

  • well done ! why are people criticising here ? okay, she practises for many hours a day. Well, hello ! that is how you get good at something ; not by sitting around in front of the television watching Jerry Springer !

  • Goodness

I don't kno what's with all the bashing of "robot" and emotionless

I think the most difficult part is "technique".

emotion can come once you master the right hand and all that,

personally, I think we use 90% of time to master technique, and 10% of time to put in emotion

    especially at her age

she'll need to worry about her emotion when she becomes like Hilary Hann or Cho Liang Lin, but not as much now, IMHO

  • just to complement to your comment, where exactly is the emotion if not in executing a piece as perfectly as she did. In music emotion is not shown in the face, but in the instrument, and if you can't feel it in this vide then you oviously dont know a lot about music.

  • debí haber nacido en chinaaaaaaa!

  • celloprof, i am ashamed that a fellow cellist can say stuff like that about a clearly good musician. its clear we all hate you, so why not save some dignity and shut the hell up?

  • Celloprof quit being an ass. I hate her too damnit, but you can't bash an 11 year. -.-

  • I LOVE CHINESE people!

though it is a little stange how all my orchestra is chinese and they are always first chair geezz : (

  • white horse, why did you use this page, think abuot that parents this page visit to teach her childreens please stop this on page withPHENOMEALMUSIC, thanks

  • it is a good demo for young violinst, esp. to me.

  • This video is a demonstration for the Bejing Conservatorium. She was 14 at the time, playing on a Nicolo Gagliano 1752 violin, 6 times China Violin Comeptition winner since age of 5, student of Prof. Lin who's students are First Prize winners of Paganini, Tchaikovsky etc. competitions. This girl is wonderful AND, she is normal, a regular kid. She is very popular in China. I think, because this is a educational video, she doesn't move as freely as she would usually.

  • mozart8181, HAHAHAHAHA, see proves my point!!! I've known tons of Violin players and Viola and Cello and Bass players. I KNOW EXACTLY HOW HARD IT IS TO BE THAT GOOD and I've known others as good as her or better and they had to plactice all day long to get that good so don't any of you people even go there.
